  1. Well, Sim tell me this. Would you want to walk naked in a rainy weather?? We wear clothes as a matter of our good culture. They have the additional advantage of protecting us form weather. Even when we have the best weather and we don't need to wear clothes, still we wear some clothes as a social requirement. Its like wearing the 5K uniform is a religious requirement for a Sikh, a member of the Khalsa Panth. Of course, like clothes, they have other benefits too. Clothes are kind of like a neccessity of life, while makeup isn't.
  2. Well literally enhance is to modify it ..change it..make it better..so it is alterting the way. Alright, again with health issues. You can't really control your eye sight from getting lost..Usually its environmentally caused or genetic. If you just get plain old clear contact lenses..It is the same thing as without them. No Fashion trend here or anything.Your point about glasses and operations for cancers is well-taken. The Gurus did not say altering the body for MEDICAL reasons is wrong; altering for ego and fashion and peer pressure is. For example: ...Rajini's husband was CURED of his leprosy by dipping in the waters of what is now Harimandir Sahib? Second of all, Teeth??...Crooked teeth are the source of many health problems such as misplaced jaws, overbite and crowded mouth that cause bite problems, jaw problems and subsequently other problems. Something that is well beyond out of your control By all means, If you need a surgery or braces get it done! If that is what you want, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You can say that it is Waheguru's will to give you such a problem, but you can also say that Waheguru invented such a procedure to correct it too! If you're still having trouble with it, think of it from the karma standpoint. Maybe in your past life you owed the dentist something and never repaid your debt. Now is your chance by giving him your business. Hope this helps!
  3. Bruaaaaaaaah!Balle Balle Warriorsingh!
  4. TrueSingh, mate you said your self. It was a oil rich province in Canada, So I wasn't sure..If you had said US..Alaska or Texas for sure  .
  5. Its some scary stuff. In this case, kaur1699 and I could relate. Don't know about the online version, but I've got it on tape.
  6. Don't prefer ..these "FWD" type of things. Because any bloke could have just typed it.. Though far as the content of it is concerned, very nice. If I was a teacher would give it an A+! -
  7. Here'z something about hats: Kangha Dono Waqat Kar, Paag Chune Kar Bandhye Comb your hair twice a day and take oof turban by taking off every single palla and same to wear. Do not take it off as a hat. Guru Ji ordered us notto wear hat Sikh Hoe Sir Topi Dhare, Saat Janam Kushti Hoe Marre A Sikh who wears hat shall die seven lives with illness of Kohar
  8. Tying the beard is not mentioned in the Rehit of Guru Gobind Singh. Wearing the beard flowing and long is the natural state of the beard.Tying of the beard for social custom should not be done. Historically, Sikh men started tying their beards because of the British. They didn't want to shave their beards, so tying them up was the next most British thing to do. It can be compared to Blacks straightening their hair to be more like Whites. It makes a huge difference. Let your beard flow and be proud of your Sikh heritage. And the effects of reading banis with a flowing beard? I think it matters, if the untied beard helps one feel more connected with the Gurus. The Gurus didn't tie up their beard when they recited bani. It would seem that on a subtle level, we would feel more connected to the Guru if we in turn read with our turbins flowing. But, of course, the practitioners devotion is the most important ingredient Hope this helps
  9. No, I think its more of a style trend. For example: Some wear white puggs while other blue and so forth.. Its just their like and therefor a style trend. I think thats the way it works...Correct me if I am wrong.
  10. Steel Paji, did you draw the back as well? If you did, you are quite an artist.
  11. Yeah, They have.. I got plenty of them from India.... Such as Raakh Pita Prabh Merei-Bhai Ravinder Singh Ji Khalsa Mera Rup Hai Khaas-Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji There is plenty of 'em. The Images they put in are so cool, cause if you can't get the words, the pictures explain 'em.
  12. Hey guys, I don't know about you guys, but I have seen plenty of Gursikh pehnjiz,auntiz,...with makeup?? What's the difference bleaching and putting foundation?? Because Our bodies are a gift from God. To alter the body is to tell God he got it wrong.. The Sikh Rehit is explicit that Amritdhari Sikhs are NOT to alter their bodies in any way. So, when you put make up and something of that nature your altering your looks...Like you skin color becomes lighter with foundation?? ...With lipstick ...lips stand out ..and all that junk.. So is this right or wrong?? What do you folks say??
  13. I have noticed that sometimes when you go the gurudwara..at the end of the path they usually give the sangat parshaad or patas?? Does that just vary by gurudwaras? Or is there special significant value behind each of them??- and also what is the point of parshad-not that I'm saying its a bad thing, cuz the parshaad at the gurudwaras is soooooooooo good,  , but ...why do they give parshad??.. Reply if you can enlighten me on this one.
  14. Darshan Pehnji, Competing proffesionally..Such as sports and something of that nature.
  15. Sikhs does NOT believe in trying to convert anyone. We believe firmly that everyone has a right to worship as they choose, period. Our 9th Guru died for this very purpose. Never forget it.
  16. same problem as sukhsingh..da link don't work... an alternate host website link??
  17. The ardas as we know it today contains 3 parts. The first portion of the ardaas, where we acknowledge the 9+ Guru's, was created by Guru Gobind Singh. The second part of the ardas, is our history from the times of the Guru's to the presant. The third part of the Ardas is the prayer of the Sangat assembled. Ardas' have been formulated and printed up in the nitnems by the SGPC and the Akal Takhat. hope this helped..!
  18. This "crying" is called weeping. It is the "Rom rom har dhiavai". The full absorption of every hair of my body on God's meditation. This is a very sublime state of experience. Your experience reaches beyind time and space. Your soul's longing weeps with fulfillment of it's connection with the Infinite or perhaps something in your subconcious that could be reflective of a past karm is activated when you are in Gurdwara or praying and this can lead to tearfulness... this is all i could find and say...
  19. I was wondering. Fortunately, hasn't happened to me. But seen it arisen with my cousin and so forth. When you participate...in schools supports or even private club such as Gymnastics and Swimming ( Both Excellent Sport)..But I guess the problem is ..the attire ...Swim Suits ...and Gymnastics attire...What does Sikhi and you sangat have to say about it??....... I hope you folks, get what I mean.
  20. Whoops errors...Its like ...1:28 am here, so understand. Yeh, posters** I think its ..8 1/2 by 11 instead.
  21. True Singh, ....If you had least a 8 by 11 1/2 of that. I am sure you could take it to a local Kinkos store, and they could make you a poste. Indeed, that would be really nice to have
  22. So true at cussin' matches...You know whats sooo shocking...the girls are even worst Sometimes, its fun to watch chick fights though   I don't really appreciate it when they take it to family  , Thats totally called not having common sense. But, anyways yahoo overcomes your boredom. How about a Sikhi room  ? ..Sounds nice, but too many blokes to deal with
  23. Haha...Actually, It depends on how much common sense one has.. Its funny though, how so many punjabi families hope for a boy, and in the later years, it is the son that puts such a bad image on the family doin ..stupid things such as drugs, gangs, etc, etc...and usually its always the daughters that end up taking care of the parents. Na, there is still those "narrow minded" people who pass out sweets and something of that nature..only on a birth of a boy..But, All I know is that my parents passed out laddus and barfi when I was born to the whole pind...And oh jees that was back in 1985. Its kind of a disgrace, we are in 2003, yet our thinkings are like 1603.   Anyways, people need to get with time. Sorry, I didn't mean to show off kind of thing that this happened when I was born, but I wus just answering that to an earlier post that ..sweets do get passed out when a girl is born too.
  24. Well, the way I look at it is that all have their ups and downs..And its the final destination that matters, which is talking with god and such. Talk about Islam or Christianity, or even Sikhism, you'll learn some lessons in Sikhi, which you won't learn in Islam, but then you'll learn things in Islam which you won't learn Sikhi ..and on it goes. The final destination, reaching god should be most important.
  25. First and Foremost, One should dress that it should be to the limit where as sitting in the family would look appropriate. I know, I know ..some parents are too loose these days, but most know what is best for their daughter/son. And that whole glamourising saga, is totally the person's decision. Againnnnnnnnnnn Punjabi Media Influence, ..Nangiya Nuching Tupping. But again only your self knows your self better than anyone else. And parents only have a control to certain age limit. But, if the parents start it out decent, the child will have enough common sense on how to dress their self. Again, you can tell a lot about the person how they dress and such. And I don't think I made a point here, but I think I said something. And good luck...Gurpreet pehnji teaching , What grade by the way?
