Gurpreet Kaur if you think that you can attain God by doing hard penance then that is completey wrong, but if someone is so busy doing naam simran or someone is soo devoted to God that he forgets his food eating, he keeps himself in the cold .. and out of love he is enduring everything then that is not ascetiscm.. it is devotion. You can not attain God by going to hunger strikes, but God will come to you if out of love you are not willing to partake in the food like Bhagat Dhanna and just like a indian wife may refuse to eat food until her husband comes home. It is a state of Love. Even Guru Nanak did hard penance after he left home, but what the Yogis were doing were completely different, there philosophy was based on the fact that you could get to God by fasting, sitting for long hours and by doing all sorts of tapsya. So they made tapsya the means... and not Love and some people make Love the means and out of love they have to endure the tapsya or the ascetic life, like Bhagat Dhanna. So people get really confused over all of these things and they are not able to understand, actually only a person who *Really* Wants to meet God can understand and he has true devotional love. Love can make u do all sorts of things, like in the case of summan and mussan where the father cut the head of the son and the son willingly offered it while they were stealing to do seva for Guru Arjun Dev, because they were poor and Guru Arjun Dev who was pleased then restored the son back to life upon seeing the love and devotion of this. Love can make a Madho Das Bairagi to Banda Singh Bahadur and crack the nutts out of Sarhand and Wazir Khan. So it is Guru Kirpa that drives everything. But most poeple like me are not doing any tapsya, but just increasing there stomach by eating lots of food and that is wrong too.

These people will make sad faces and they will say "Oh it could have been so better if Guru Gobind Singh ji had not asked us to keep hair, just only this one kakkar." and that it is wrong because there in the SGGS no where it is asked to keep hair and then they will say that there is differnce between Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh ji .. LOL that the latter made rituals for us where as Guru Nanak asked us to avoid rituals. They even make a sad crying face and will say "Why were we born in a sikh house and we cant enjoy life."" They are soo pathetic !!! and sooo stupid. We die to be born as a sikh, peole like suleman die for a sikh birth.

I agree with N3O S!NGH, I have met a lot of ppl who will tell me "Is it written in the SGGS?" They will ask for evidence for keeping hair by Guru Nanak and then they will think dirty which we can not think and they will say that Guru Gobind Singh ji did an opposite thing what Guru Nanak taught and that is keeping the 5K''s and which they call it rituals. Such people need a good slap (wake up call) on there faces. In anycase, the SGGS is our spiritual guru and guide, apart from that we should also read the dasam granth, other rehatnamas, sakhis.. which are IMPORTANT teachings of our Gurus and can not be ignored. Only materialistically infected people who want to cut hair will keep on saying that these writings are not authentic. As for the Sau Sakhi. I think its true !

KS, you havent taken amrit yet? Well just to add it is very difficult to the keep rehat until you take amrit, before amrit I was not able to do the 5 banis, after the rehat I can do it in a much better way, there is hell of a difference, by the way I missed my rehraas today .. :evil:

I mean you have to recite it with full attention, you get real good benefit.

have u noticed our Guru Sahibs got married at an early age

I use to be weak in my full nitnem before, but after I heard the jevan katha of Baba Harnam Singh Rampurkhere wale on Sikhawareness, dowlnoad section. He said that Guru Ji only cares about the rehatdhari sikh ! A Sikh who is complete in Rehat , does all the nitnem will surely enter the feet of Guru Ji.. otherwise not. This Baba Harnam Singh . Baba Harnam Singh did not use to do Jaap Sahib, because it is pretty long... and he use to skip it and then He got darshan that Guru Ji was not happy with him because he did not do jaap sahib and that a sikh is to follow the hukam and the Gur loves the rehat more than the sikh, after that Baba Harnam singh started doing the nitnem.

khalsa soulja, i know that kind of experience, atleast you can utter waheguru in u r mind.. even in that state of half-sleep and half-awake, u know what i mean, u might be deadtired.. but as long as u can imagine waheguur, just go for it.

People become sants by working hard and not caring about there bodies. if you bring your bodily needs between u and Guru ji.. then its very hard and probably can never be a sant. To stay up all night is not an easy thing to do.. heh Its very hard try it. Infact to sleep at 10 pm and wake up at four or three is much easier, but then u loose something there and for me personally that amount of time is not enough for me.. as you would get only 2-3 hours until sunrise. The ideal situation will be just not to sleep at all , or take a very light nap. This is also possible with practice. In Tarn Taran I met a Gursikh who would stay up 3 days, he said the more you lessen the sleep thebetter it is. Our goal is to dissolve the mind in simran so that all times it is doing naam jap automatically, this will only happen when you try to make u r simran 24 hours , especially during night time when u r half-awake and half-sleep and that is the time simran would go into your subconscious.

Its not in the body. Its in the mind and its how determined you are. If you are determined to get A-LEVELS.. then you would even stay up all night , miss your meals and do all hard-core study. I have seen people doing such things, but when it comes to meeting Guru Ji .. we have nakhras like "Our bodies cant handle it. We feel sleepy, we get tired" or "I got work early morning." All of this is pure haumai nakhra. If you are strong in the mind and you are determined and you take the first step in struggling on the path and start working hard on this path and give it the first priority in your life.. Then you wouldnt find it a difficulty. I usually take my bath at mindight and start doing nitnem... simran, but sometimes I am to tired and I might fall asleep somehwere along the line 4 or 5 am or sometimes even 3 am.. and this happens I am completely not aware of it .. but I am always trying to remain awake through out the entire night and through this practice.. I have found that you gain a lot when you dont spend u r night sleeping. In India I also met a sant who would stay up all through out the night and then he might goto sleep after some sunrise... He is pretty experienced. Night time is special time, becoz you are attacked by much evil. I really dont think it is cheating the system, as I know many ppl who do it. Amrit Vela begins at midnight and goes up till sunrise.

jassa, it is not about high level or low level.. If you want to do something you can do it. Baba Harnam Singh use to have a hard time staying awake and when he use to fall asleep at night.. He would put his legs in water or stand up .. in order to not to allow sleep to disturb his simran.. he did this and Guru Ji saw he was hard working.. so he got kirpa and he was able to replace sleep with simran. actually.. if I goto sleep and wake up at 4 am or 5 am.. or even 3 am.. that time is to less to be spent in simran. Moreover amrit vela starts at midnight.. why spend the night sleeping? spend as much as time u want in simran, nitnem. during the time of sunrise.. I find myself dead tired through out the night.. so I do take a nap , as I am totally unconscious of what happened and how I fell asleep during that time. In the past I use to goto bed at 10 pm and wake up at 4 am. Yea it feels nice to wake up fresh, but buddy... we need not worry at all about getting sleep. You do your work and Guru Ji will take care of the rest. In this play .. one should not care about there bodily needs at all. Guru Amar Das and Guru Angad Did seva not worrying about sleep or bodily needs. Could anyone wak today the same distance which Guru Amar Das use to walk for 12 years?

SB, no it is not dirt. Ultimately the water is see through, but then when u put the patsas and start mixing with the khanda... the color of the amrit will change a bit.. maybe light.. very light brown.. or perhaps it is just due to the sarbloh of the bata or simply it looks that way.. but amrit was very sweet. I think it was the colour of the metal batta These people did nindiya of the amrit.. I really dont like it at that time inside i was very angry at them.. but leave it , my praents told me they will ge tpunishment from Guru Ji .

I wsa telling these two friends thye same one which I told them about the suleman ghost. They are sikhs, one is brother and other sisiter. The brother trims his beard also. I told them how amrit is prepared for baptization on there asking and I told them that the color of the amrit changes to a bit brown .. perhaps due to the sarbloh... and this girl started saying "chee chee chee".. meaning "dirty.. " and the guy started saying that it is dirty and we should shak it in america so that its atleast clean. I was realy mad and I told them they will get MAHA-PAP for doing such nindiya !

i am not sure, but 15-20 would be an ideal age to marry if u look from a spiritual view point, u need not have to have kids.. but marriage in this style will prevent u looking or going after other girls... it will surely prevent sex before marriage with mutliple ppl which happens a lot these days and stop u r mind lusting after lots of women.

Khalsa Soulja u r going more into the hindu philosophy. I have been through that brahmacharya thing a lot myself. I will tell u kaam can not be destroyed by mans own power and those buddhists monks are following something that is totally contrary to sikhism... sitting long hous in meditation .. and doing no work.. Like Guru Sahib Himself said what is the use of sitting like a crane all day ? I was myself caught up in these practicees for 2-3 years... Its all crap.. sitting in meditation and those zazen thing if you know what i am talking about... is a complete mislead. Without Kirtan, Naam Jap nothing is possible rest all is useless besides this. I myself use to pratice brahmacharya... its not possible. I know ppl who even use to try it but they always had lustful thoughts in there minds even though they never did anything physically and i knew ppl who would just waste there time.. (buddhist ppl) but were still inwardlies attached with there kids, family deeply. No one can free you accept the TRUE GURU. Sometimes Kaam gets so high that you will even look at the dead decayed body of women in a lustful manner. I read a story in which a buddhist monk went through this all. All I know is that celibacy HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH finding Union with God and you will just be wasting your time at it ! If you want to spend your time at somthing... then just Lovingly meditate on the Name of God ! and Kaam will be taken care of by itself. In my personal case I have found that I am little or not at all bothered by kaam when I am in sadh-sangat in harminder sahib or any other spiritual place. Banda Singh Bahadur was a sannyasin, a vairagin previously ..he use to live in the himalayas and do all those kind of strict stuff.. thats why I am not surprised when he said "no onions". All those ideas that onions produce sexual desire and thing that ban other types of vegetables is absolutely RUBBISH ! I myself never use to eat onions, garlic, oil, salt in my diet. I have left that kind of a lifestyle long back in the past.. .. now and I dont even want to think of living that same old way again, because it is all non-sense crap and has nothing to do with meeting God. Its a total waste of time and as Guru Ji says "This entire jagat is caught up in useless practices and rituals." Now I eat lots of ghee, lassi, onions, salt.. I am healthy and I can concentrate much better in spirtuality, my mind is more open then the way it use to be when I had merged myself in complete ascetiscm ! Its all non-sense Morever even Guru Ji's use to eat onions,, there is a proof to ie that the when Baba Buddha ji smashed an onion for eating with his food during the time he gave the boon to Mata Ganga ji for the birth of Guru Hargobind Ji, This story is a clear indication that onions were not banned in sikhi. I feel that you are going back into the same ignorance out of which Guur Nanak tried to get the Yogis out. Eat what you want, eat healthy, do all the things you are suppose to do.... and dont worry yourself to much about sex, the more you worry the more it is going to bother you and again getting married with a amritdhari girl is going to help you get more closer to God and having sex with your wife is no way condemned by God ! Dont force or repress, keep it normal and as your devotion increases you will naturlaly (Sehajy, sehaj) overcome Kaam.

Idont support beating/fighting, but I can tell you sure that guy is never gonna make an insult against sikhi to any other sikh in his life or is he ever gonna try to catch someone's beard. In the past also one guy was making fun of the "fateh bola" and I scolded and fought with hm so much, not beating thoug.. but i can tell that he is never gonna make fun of sikhs again in his entire life !

Hello, KS, If u get a rehat keeping amritdhari women. Its all fine ! You will progress rather than go down , dont think of it in a sex way. Kaam can kill anyone and a married life saves you from demoralization and staying in the marriage u can try to control kaam. Banda Singh Bahadur was married and he had a 4 year old child also.

IDEAL Singh, We must remember that our goal in this world is to meet God and this is the mission for what we are here for. It is some country send its troops to another country .. but if the troops forget what there mission and involve themselves with family matters.. then they get fired ! In the Suleman tape, suleman says that we have come here for Naam Japing and Bhakti... and no other thing, food and water can be only given by God we can not earn all these things by our own will. But yes, to tohse who think marriage is ahindrance to God, it is wrong, marriage is not hindrance at all. This type of thiking is a hindu philosophy.

I made two people listen the suleman ghost. They were brother-sisters They were very shocked the sister got veyr scared and woke up twice at night, not much effect on the brother, but they are doubting with me the authenticaty of the tape and they want to get more information on it. Does anyone has more information on the tape. I want to know, it is a tape that is shocking many ppl and pluse these pp dont believe in amrit, they are sikhs but they think of it as a ritual.

KS, it is not that bad, infact by getting married u are always protected by being thrown away from Kaam. All these people who dont get married are tested by kaam and they fail also, then all the tapsya, simran of all the years are wasted and looted away by Kaam. Plus even Guru Ji married. Frankly I think that a householder life is more faster way to God. .. I to would want to get married, but if that would happen only if I am destined too..
