  2. Heart you said. Then I agree with you. If you feel the presence of Waheguru in your heart, in one single breath, then you are a giani - not the one with a certificate, but from the true sense.

I didn't say heart... that's what is says in Gurbani (well, the SikhiToTheMax translation of).

& you really didn't answer my questions.

    Are you Eros?

Do you believe the Quran is false?

  3. In light of recent events in Panjab, there will be a rally on Saturday 19th May in Southall @ 5pm starting @ Havelock Road Gurdwara and ending @ Park Road Gurdwara in Protest AGAINST Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his supporters!!!!

    posterrallywy3.jpg

    What exactly is happening?

Mahaan panthic sevadar from various panthic groups will be holding a rally where many tbt goodsikhs will be shouting slogans of hatred while dressed up in balaclavas.

    Why?

Some guy in India dressed up like a painting of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

    A painting?

    Yes.

Is that what Guru Gobind Singh Ji really looked like?

We're not sure... but probably not.

...ok... If he's in India, why are u holding a rally here?

To show our support to all the tbt goodsikhs in India standing up to him, & to raise awareness of the enemies of the panth.

    Raise awareness to who?

    The sangat.

Wouldn't that just give him unnecessary publicity?

No! We protested against Behzti & that didn't get any extra publicity.

Hmmm... Don't u think a mob of angry Sikhs will just scare people?

Yes... Scare them enough not to follow the fake baba! This is our seva to the panth!!

You've convinced me... I'll be there!

Make sure u bring a kirpan & a megaphone. Goodfateh!

  4. Here is my partial translation of the AL-Jazeerah intervew between Maher Abdallah and Shiekh Ahmed Katani talking about the issue of 6 million muslims leaving Islam every year in Africa alone. This was a television interview that was transcribed and I translated it into English.

Here is the original article I translated from Arabic from Al-Jezeerah's web site.

That's really strange "namjap", because there's a moderator named Eros on an Islamic forum who makes exactly the same claim here!!

    Are u Eros?

Also "namjap", could I please ask ur opinion on the following from Gurbani...

"Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false. Those who do not contemplate them are false." 1350

"Practice within your heart the teachings of the Koran and the Bible;" 1084

  5. I am not sure if this discussion has already been had in detail (if so, apologies, could some kind person please post the link).

Is an Avataar a manifestation or incarnation?

There's a good discussion on it here... Was Guru Nanak God himself?

I think the general conclusion is an Avatar is NOT an incarnation (ie in the flesh)... & there is no real translation for it in English, but manifestation is much closer.

  6. No worries I am not a "majhbi" unlike what some people here have said (you know who you are). That I know of Portugal doesn't have any of this classifying human beings by their birth. Nor is birth a problem when it comes to marriage or eating with other people. Nor is birth used as a way of mocking others. You won't see farmers cussing carpenters because of some superstitious belief about higher or lower birth. Nor does Portugal have the worst gender imbalance rate in the world. Nor do families go into dept for some idiotically expensive dowry.

I am not slatting anyone here just giving payback to some people who find it funny to ridicule my family and my Portuguese origins!

    *debt

    *slating

How can someone outside the caste system have a caste?

  7. I have the budha dal version, & afaik it's the same version as the one edited by Vir Singh. I've heard there's been a new publication with the unedited version of Pracheen Panth Parkash, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the author. I'll try to find out & post back.

  8. Freed its dead simple, you tie one bit round the other bit on the left and wind round about four times and then with the other bit, loop that through the right but, kind of half knot so that it looks a bit like a hoop but not quite, then pull half tight, get your thumb through that hoop, then pull the other string over your shoulder slightly and twist the kirpan facing due northwest while opening your thumb and forefinger into a sort of heart shape so as to pull the first bit under the left hoop, drop the shoulder, pull really hard and bobs your uncle. I learnt that from a mahapuratansnatanpavittarudhhasityagi old lady in rotheram, 1983.

    Remarkable paintings as always.

Of course!!... Why didn't I think of that earlier?!

  9. LOL!! Nanakian philosophy rejects Hinduism, therefore anything that sounds remotely Hindu has been translated incorrectly because Guru Nanak Dev Ji had different meanings for the same words used by Hindus. The correct translation for the words can be determined by if the new translation is in accordance to Nanakian philosophy.

    It's a watertight argument!

This is my favourite bit... (read the bits in bold)...

"AGGS makes it clear that reincarnation of God, karma and transmigration, and hell and heaven, caste system and gender inequality, are not real; rather they are man-made concepts, as pointed out by Guru Angad.

It is the teachings of Vedas, which has created the concepts of sin and virtue, hell and heaven, and karma and transmigration. One reaps the reward in the next life for the deeds performed in this life-goes to hell or heaven according to the deeds. The Vedas have also created the fallacy of inequality of caste and gender for the world. AGGS, M 2, p. 1243.

Another relevant issue that needs addressing even though you didn’t ask and that is of soul. Again, here the Nanakian philosophy radically differs from other religions. In Nanakian philosophy, soul is God--the Transcendent One that permeates the entire cosmos and it is called as jyoti (light). Other synonyms used are hans (swan), atma, jio (spirit), Sabad-surat (God-consciousness) and moral principles that guide life (conscience). Guru Nanak rejected the idea that soul is something separate from God and that it leaves the body after death to seek punishment or reward depending upon the deeds of the person whose body it inhabits. Many verses in the AGGS attest to this fact that God is soul."

  10. Oh, one more thing:

GUV - you stated "Ramchander & Seeta, Krishna & Radha, Guru Nanak Dev Ji & Bibi Nanaki, Guru Gobind Singh Ji & Mata Sahib Devan are all seen as manifestations of Shiv & Shakti."

Rama and Sita...understood (Husband and Wife)

    Krishna and Radha...understood (Lovers)

Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Devan...understood (Husband and Wife)

    BUT...

Guru Nanak and Bibi Nanaki...Brother and Sister...

Looked up the reference for that... I got the Shiv Shakti bit wrong...

"In accordance with the described qualities of Sri Ram Chander and Sita, Nirmala scholars have drawn a parallel here in the relationship and qualities of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji and his sister Bibi Nanaki. Symbolically, one represents the manifestation of Gyan or knowledge, the other of Bhakti or devotion."

    Bhavrasamrit Tika P. 79

  11. 3. The source of Jassa’s sakhi also in a another sakhi claims that Chandi was born again as the Guru’s wife. Now let me get this straight, Chandi first arrives in Satjug (according to this source, but not according to the Dasam Granth as highlighted above – so up to you which you decide to believe), helps one Samund Rishi and fights alongside Rishi Dhustdaman and promises him that she will return in Kuljug to help him again…OK, then we learn that Guru Sahib supposedly worshipped Chandi at “Veshnu†Devi, Anandpur…whilst simultaneously she is his wife reincarnate??? Even if she was Guru Sahib’s wife, then why would Guru Sahib marry the Devi rather than worship her???

    What is the source?

Are u sure "she is his wife reincarnate", rather than manifest?

sathigur naanak dhaeo hai paramaesar soee||

Satiguru Nanak God is that very Parmeshar

    Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaaran

joth roop har aap guroo naanak kehaayo ||

You are the light form of Hari Guru Nanak.

The Embodiment of Light, the Lord Himself is called Guru Nanak.

    P. 1480

If Guru Nanak Dev Ji was himself Parmeshar, why didn't he worship himself?

From my own (very limited) understanding, Ramchander & Seeta, Krishna & Radha, Guru Nanak Dev Ji & Bibi Nanaki, Guru Gobind Singh Ji & Mata Sahib Devan are all seen as manifestations of Shiv & Shakti.
