  1. Dear Friends Gur Fateh! I would like to share with you all, I had a great experience. I came to know of a new web site as www.thelivingtreasure.org This web site belongs to an organization known as The Living Treasure. This organization aims to spread the true message of Gurbani through out the globe. Their main funda is that only recitation of gurbani is of no use until we start understanding it side by side and start practising it in our day to day life. They higly stress that Gurbani is a 'Jeevan Jaach' a way of living being taught by the guru sahibans and it should be understood and practised in our day to day life. These people are doing Gurbani seminars in various parts of the world. They have already done Gurbani seminars in Delhi, Mumbai, kolkotta, Patiala, Shimla, Pune, Jabalpur, Hyderabad and many other parts of India and also in Canada, NewJersey, New York , Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai and many other places. In most of these seminars they sing a single shabad from Guru Granth sahib and then they keep on discussing this single shabad from 6 to 8 hours continuously. A single orator speaks for so long . And the other surprising thing is that none of their orators are professional bhaais or raagis they all are Young Engineers and Doctors and Students from the most modern disciplines of Life and their commnad on Gurbani pronunciation , Gurbani Grammar and Gurmat Siddhant is marvellous. They way in which they relate the shabad with our day to day living is just great. Thousands of youngsters have joined them and they have really changes their way of life and have started following the footsteps of Gursikhi in the real sense. A lot of their audio/video cassettes and books are also available which can be arranged by contacting them through their web site. Moreoevr it is great that they have recently started a discussion forum also on their web site . When u see their orators who are all young educated guys and gals , and the depth in which they talk about Gurbani , then it is something just out of the world. They discuss the true approach to understand and practise Gurbani in a very lay man language. Side by side they have also started various types of social services to practise the concept of 'vand chakkna ' in the real sense. They say that the concept of 'vand chakna' which they have learnt from various types of seva in Gurudwara like 'langar' , 'jodian dee seva' etc. would actually bring its results when we would practise what we have learnt in the external world out of Gurdwara also . So they are trying to help the less priviledged brethren of the society in its best possible way . Though it is just the beginning of tehir dreams but slwoly and slowly with the support of one another these people are moving ahead on the footsteps of Guru Nanak Sahib. U can have better details from their web site www.thelivingtreasure.org Gur Fateh
  2. As per Gurbani , it never refers to Guru as some physical being because Gurbani talks of true knowledge (Gyan) to be as the only Guru . Kabir sahib says "Kabeera jahan gyaan tahan dharam hai , jahan jhooth tehan paap" . Even when Guru Nanak sahib was questioned 'Kavan guru kiska to chera ?" he replied "mera shabad guru surat dhun chera " shabd guru means that true knowledge is my guru. Many a times the word gur means the true technique . As sometimes we often say kee us manukk ne business de saare gur sikh laeyae hann , means that he has learnt the art or the technique of that business. Similarly 'satgur' means the true knowledge , the universal truth . This is what I feel gur and guru means as per Gurbani. these words guide us to true knowledge as to be our guru and not any particular human being as so many sants and saadhoos and so called baba jees are now a days in the market who are befooling the masses and who use the terms from gurbani for this t befool others as they keep on saying gurbani says 'Gur bin koye na utras paar' And they thereby signify the importance of guru. In real sense gurbani is talking of the true universal knowledge to be as gur and not some physical being. For that Guru sahib even says , so mukh jalo jit kaho thakur joni' means he uses an idiom to stress the importance of the message that 'ooh mukh taan jalan jog hai , jehra kehanda hai kee thakur yeah guru shareerak hunda hai "
