An announcement in this regared was Friday made by Sukhbir Singh Badal Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who said film city would give fillip to quality Punjabi movies. Approving the plan the Deputy Chief Minister asked Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture Geetika Kalha to put up the conceptual plan for the proposed Film city that should also have Film and Television Institute. . Badal said that he was being approached by many film professional who want to setup state of art Film studios in the Film city. Badal asked Kalha to make Film and Television Institute a part of Film city that would provide professional training to the youth the art of film making and its technical. He said that they was lot of shortage of quality technical staff for film making and this institutes would provide the human resource backup to the film studios. Badal asked Principal Secretary Culture to institute Film Awards for Punjabi films so that people should be encouraged to produce quality Punjabi films. Sukhbir had made commitment to set up film city at PTC Punjabi film awards. He himself wants to produce a film. Prominent amongst those who participated in the meeting included Geetika Kalha, Principal Secretary Tourism, Hussan Lal, Director Tourism, D.S.
