Worship

Recommended Posts

In ancient times people took to worshipping elements of nature, believing them to be powerful, granting their wishes. They were lost as to how the world was sustained, what was the power behind nature? Nature, a perfect balance, where the needs of every species was provided 'Rijak dia sab hoo ko tadka'.

Many started worshipping the water, not only in India, but many other countries such as in Europe and China, people threw money into wells, streams of water believing their wishes would come true. What was the reason behind this worship? Lobh (greed) and fear. Fearing eternal damnation in Hell and the greed of material pleasures.

People went as far as worshipping the sun. Hindu priests offering water to the sun, in the hope that their ancestors would quench their thirst and answer to all their needs. Guru Ji had to do the same in order to make them wake up and face reality. What was the need for Guru Ji to start throwing water in the opposite direction? To participate in this ridiculous ritual?! Merely to attract their attention. Reason, 'Bhagtan te sansariyaan, jod kadhe na aaya'. How are we, as mere Manmukhs able to understand the real message?

People worshipped men when they saw certain good qualities, and talents in them, the ability to perform miracles and so on. Their heads bowed in their direction also, not only whilst they were alive, but after they died these same people worshipped their graves! They believed even after death these men of powers could help them. In Islam, even though grave worship is strictly prohibited, the grave of Mohammad Sahib is in Mecca-Medina. It is where Muslims go for Hajj, for their pilgrimmage, it is the direction towards which they pray.

People worship snakes, in China there are temples called 'snake temples' where hundreds of snakes roam and are fed and worshipped. Naag Panchami is an example of this type of worship in India, even now.

Does a GurSikh worship the creation, or the Creator? Gurbani says 'Dehe Lehe Ek Tu, Digar Ko Nahin' He is the one who takes, He is the one who gives, there is no other. Many streams leave the ocean, but ultimately they are all destined to return, and they do, merge back into the source of all, the ocean.

Hmm, Can we handle that the creator and creation are the same? can be understand infinity? Yes and No, we cant count to infinity but assume its use in maths.

If we take a simplistic view of God as having human attributes of anger, attachment, thought and the ability to make. Then the islamic context of God will be angry with you if you are not a muslim hold credibility, the creator and the creation are seperate and god only loves those who are muslim makes sense.

However if we read the Quran, which states,

Say: "Of your 'partners', can any originate creation and repeat it?" Say: "It is Allah Who originates creation and repeats it: then how are ye deluded away (from the truth)?" Yunus(10,34)

Is the truth Islam? or the mere existence of God? which do they refer to?

let's check further,

...... In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the Night and the Day; in the sailing of the ships through the Ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth, (here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.

Ar-Ra'd(13,5)

What are the signs? do they find god through creation? If so then surley the creation can not originate from anything else except from Allah himself, if it does then there is more than Allah himself and he is no longer supreme!. For allah to be almighty - creation = creator must be valid. Allah or god can not go to the shop and buy stuff for creation!! where does it come from if not from god himself?

The truth of the creation is no different no matter who writes it. Lust will be lust, greed will be greed, ego will still be ego - what matters if it makes or if it has been diluted. The Quran was not written by Mohammed Ji himself - that is acknowledged by muslims themselves

I found that Gurbani has a clear, logical and concise answer to all questions i have asked. I have to look for the answer but i have not be left without an answer yet.

nutters the lot of you!!
