Bhai Gurdas Ji - Impartial like a Tree (Vaar 16 - Pauri 4)

Vaar 16 - Pauri 4

Pauri 4 (Impartial like tree)

Tree grows on earth and first of all it sets its feet into the earth.

People enjoy swinging over it and its cool shade adorns places. It bears

the impact of air, water and cold but still keeping its head inverse,

it remains steadfast at its place. When stoned it gives fruit and even

getting cut with the sawing machine it takes iron (in boats) across

waters. Life of gurmukhs is useful because by their natural temperament

they are altruists. They have no friend and foe. Away from infatuation and

delusion they are unbiased and immersed in the word of the Guru. This

grandness they attain through the wisdom of the Guru and the company of holy persons.

Sat Sri Akal:

A very accurate portrayal of the Sikh spirit. I think that there is a quote in Gurbani that says, "Sabh Ko Meet Hum Apan Keena, Hum Sabhna Key Sajjan" (can't give reference...Sikhitothemax is down :( ) that reflects the same sentiment. Similarly, a Sikh will go out of their way to aid even his/her enemy if they are in trouble and seek help.

Thanks for the post!
