Historical Meeting of Sikh Jathedars held at Nanded

For the first time in the sikh history, the Jathedars of the five Takhats met at Takhat Sachkhand Siri Hazoor Sahib, Nanded. This historic meeting took place at Siri Guru Angad Dev Niwas.

Singh Sahib Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar Siri Akal Takhat Sahib, Siri Amritsar; Singh Sahib Bhai Iqbal Singh, Jathedar Takhat Siri Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib; Singh Sahib Bhai Tarlochan Singh Ji, Jathedar Takhat Siri Kesgarh Sahib, Siri Anandpur Sahib; Singh Sahib Bhai Balwant Singh Ji, Jathedar Takhat Siri Damdama Sahib, Guru Ki Kanshi (Sabo Ki Talwandi); Singh Sahib Bhai Kulwant Singh Ji, Jathedar Takhat Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib, Abchal Nagar, Nanded were present along with other panthic personalities like Bhai Gurbachan Singh Ji Head Granthi Siri Harimandir Sahib Amritsar and Panj Piare Sahiban of Takhat Hazoor Sahib.

The Singh Sahibs also confirmed that this was the first panthic meeting attended by Five Jathedar Sahiban at Takhat Siri Hazoor Sahib and the day is historic. A total of 13 resolutions were passed in this meeting. Plans were also discussed about the 300th year samagam coming up in 2008.

It has been decided that the year 2008 will be the 'Guru Manyio Granth Tercentenary' for the Sikhs all around the world. It was unanimously decided that for the upcoming event the main hub for the activities will be at Takhat Hazoor Sahib and all Takhat Jathedars have agreed to extend full co-operation.

The second resolution was that there will be only one stage at the 'Guru Manyio Granth Tercentenary' celebrations and the agenda will be strictly about the Sikh Religion and the Message of Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It was also decided that translation of Siri Guru Granth Sahib should be made available in different languages to spread the message of Sikh Guru Sahibaan as wide as possible.

Another resolution states that efforts should be made for the recovery of the Kalgi and the historic shashtars of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and puratan sikh soldiers from the Govt. of England.

It was also decided to plan a Dharmik Chetna March (religious awakening procession) from Guru Ki Kanshi to Abchal Nagar Sahib on the route that Guru Gobind Singh Ji followed. On this occasion the Singh Sahiban said that they would make a routine to hold one such meeting every year in which Jathedar Sahiban from all the Takhats shall be present.

The plans for the tercentenary celebrations also include holding of Gurmat Samagams at the Birth places of all the Bhagats, Bhats and Gursikhs whose Bani is included in Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It was decided to mark year 2006 as the tercentenary of the completion of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for which the center will be Takhat Damdama Sahib at Guru Ki Kanshi in Punjab.

At the end of the meeting Singh Sahib Bhai Kulwant Singh Ji thanked all the panthic personalities and offered his ardas to Akal Purakh. The attendees from outside Abchal Nagar were presented with a Chola and Kamarkasa (robes) along with a Dastar and Siri Sahib each.
