Originally the 'Jai Maala' was to be conducted in a 'Swamvar', in which a girl selects a boy among many other candidates. A Sikh boy and girl already have been enganged and the date of their marriage is fixed. There is no question that the girl has still a choice to select any of boys present there. She has already selected a boy for her.
