  1. Quote Bhai Mani Singh was appointed Granthi of the Harmandir Sahib and Jathedar of the Akal Takhat.[27] Mani Singh thus became the third Granthi of the Harmandir Sahib, after Baba Buddha and Bhai Gurdas. Unquote [1] [1] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhai_Mani_Singh Bhul chuk maaf
  2. Sangat jee: Please listen to Gyani jee talking about the power of Amrit (Khanday wala). 150 lifetimes of a Sikh, were eliminated by tenth master in a dream. Please listen after 19 min. http://www.gurbaniupdesh.org/multimedia/04-Katha/13-Giani Thakur Singh Ji (Patiala Wale)/Katha Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji/CD10(Ang0748-0885)/0757-Ang-0750-Pankti-15.mp3 Bhul chuk maaf
  3. Quote Baba Nand SIngh Ji declared from time to time that the Gurbani strictly prohibits the eating of meat, fish, eggs and all kinds of non-vegetarian foods. Unquote [1] [1] - Life Stories of the Sikh Saints
  4. Hen's menstrual waste = Raam Laddu - wth is going on?....lol Bhul chuk maaf
  5. Are the teekas done by Prof.Sahib Singh jee and Gyani Harbans Singh jee, available online in pdf format? Thanks a lot Bhul chuk maaf
  6. But bro, Chatka's aim is to kill the animal as quickly as possible, in order to minimize the pain. Killing all other animals swiftly, in order to reduce the pain, but no such mercy for fish - doesn't it seem odd - a non-Sikh might easily question this practice. What is the source of your Nihang friend? There was even a Nihang Mahapurakh, who did not allow Singhs to eat fish, but he allowed Chatka of goats. According to Nihang maryada (correct me, if wrong), one cannot even eat Chatka meat from shops, in addition to Halal meat. They can only eat Chatka meat, which is prepared according to maryada (washing the animal, reading Gurbanis, etc). Bhul chuk maaf
  7. Bro, does it specify the way to kill the fish? Bhul chuk maaf
  8. According to your line of thinking, one can even say that having sex with hundreds of women, drinking alcohol, smoking, etc, won't affect us, after following the shabads which you posted. Paaji, we cannot talk like Brahamgyanis. This type of talk will only misguide people. Rehat Maryada (Code of conduct) has been made for a reason. We need strict rules, for our minds to stay within limits. Bhul chuk maaf
  9. Bro, did you find any historical evidence? Any sakhi? Eating fish is clearly prohibited in Gurbani and it seems difficult to kill them, using Chatka maryada. Bhul chuk maaf
  10. Do Nihangs eat fish? If yes, can someone please describe, how do they kill them? Any historical references, indicating Singhs eating fish during tough times? Thanks a lot Gurbani Verdict: ਕਬੀਰ ਭਾਂਗ ਮਾਛੁਲੀ ਸੁਰਾ ਪਾਨਿ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਖਾਂਹਿ ॥ Kabeer, those mortals who consume marijuana/chicken, fish and wine - no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to hell. ||233|| Bhul chuk maaf
  11. Lowering of physical standards in military, police, firefighting, etc, to accommodate women can have serious consequences. Quote This week Wax, who repeatedly flunked the rigorous physical test required by the New York City Fire Department, will be allowed to graduate anyway, according to the New York Post. All over the nation, fire departments are easing physical standards to increase the number of women firefighters. Unquote [1] [1] - http://www.newsmax.com/McCaughey/Homeland-Security/2015/05/05/id/642647/ Look at what women's groups are claiming: Quote Women’s groups claim the test is needlessly difficult and unfairly bars women. Trainees wearing fifty pounds of gear and breathing through an air tank must climb six stories, raise ladders, break down doors, and drag a dummy through a dark tunnel, all at breakneck speed. Sounds like fire fighting. Unquote [2] [2] - http://www.newsmax.com/McCaughey/Homeland-Security/2015/05/05/id/642647/ Sangat jee - Do you want to be in a situation, where a woman who cannot pass the above test, comes to rescue you or your loved one? The above test does not even sound tough. There are many men out there, who will most likely pass it. Bhul chuk maaf
  12. The fact will not change - Women are better at child rearing, than men. Even their brains are designed by God, to do that after child birth. Quote After childbirth, new neurochemical pathways are formed in a mother's brain to reinforce maternal behavior, new responses, and priorities. Her brain and reality have both been transformed. And because of regular oxytocin rewards, the bonding and caring hormone, even fathers, adoptive parents, and care givers can experience similar differences when in close daily contact with an infant. Unquote [1] [1] - http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-17814/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-female-brain.html If men start taking care of babies, it is a possibility that emotional/psychological problems start popping up with children. Going against nature might have some serious ramifications. Bhul chuk maaf
  13. The point is: God has made us different. If God wanted, he could have given the same physical strength to women too, but he did not; hence the difference in physical achievements. We have to accept God's will, as we have no option. Bhul chuk maaf
  14. More information: Quote (n30singh saab) Sri guru granth sahib ji has many mahavaks/gyan shaloks of ekta of jiva and bhram which needs to contemplated but with that being said- Vedas/upanishads also have mahavaks of ekta of jiv and bhram, they have gyan slokas as well. Please see two very interesting threads below from japji sahib teeka on gurmat position on vedas by sant gyani gurbachan singh bhindranwale: http://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/15768-gurbani-position-on-vedas-beautifully-explained-by-sant-gyani-gurbachan-singh-khalsa-bhindranwale/ http://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/15795-~~deep-gnosis-behind-mahavak-in-gurbani~/ Unquote
  15. First of all, we (as Sikhs) must respect Vedas. They do have plenty of gyan (knowledge) in them and we can learn a lot from them. Some of the major differences between Gurbani and Ved bani are as follows: Quote (Ragmala jee) Regarding the Vedas , Baba Ishar Singh Ji said they are not false, they tell about the disease but do not provide the medicine. The medicine for Ego/ Haumai is only present in Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Unquote Quote (Ragmala jee) Pandit Narayan Singh ji would listen to katha of both vedas & SGGS. When listening to katha of vedas, he would sit at the same level as the kathavachak, When listening to Katha of Guru Granth Sahib , he would sit lower. People asked him how come ? This incident was narrated by Baba Ishar Singh Ji in his Bachans. "...they tell about the disease but do not provide the medicine. The medicine for Ego/ Haumai is only present in Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. " Unquote Furthermore: 1. Vedas don't talk about Prema Bhagtee (devotion based on love) Bhaau N Brahamai Likhiaa Chaari Bayd Sinmriti Parhhi Paykhai. Having gone through the Vedas and simritis one finds that Brhama also has nowhere written about the Sentiment of love. ੩ [1] [1] - http://searchgurbani.com/bhai_gurdas_vaaran/vaar/1/pauri/25 2. Vedas (most of it) do not talk about the fourth state of mind (Turiya pad), while Gurbani is written from the perspective of Turiya pad. The four Vedas speak only of the visible forms. They describe and explain the three states of mind, but the fourth state, union with the Lord, is known only through the True Guru. The Vedas proclaim that Maya is of three qualities. 16. Excellent point bro. For example: Suppose we had a seva, where very heavy weights had to be picked. Suppose, if Maharaaj had stated that only men can do this seva. Now, we know that women on average, cannot lift as much as men. Current record - Clean and jerk is 193 Kg for a woman, but for a man it is 263 Kg (a difference of more than 150 pounds). Only a fool would argue that this is discrimination against females or Satguru jee is making females look inferior or incapable. In addition to that, women feel pain more intensely than men. Quote For almost every diagnosis, women reported higher average pain scores than men. Women's scores were, on average, 20 percent higher than men's scores, according to the study. Unquote[1] [1] - http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/women-feel-pain-more-intensely/ On the other hand, women have been given certain other abilities (reading body language, multitasking, child rearing, etc), which men, on average, are not as good. Should men start complaining about that? Bhul chuk maaf
  17. Paaji, your points above make sense, if we were on a non-Sikh forum. Here, most of the people, if not all, should be aware that the Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Rai Dev Bedi jee Maharaaj is the greatest guru of all time. Anyone born in a Sikh family, should be ready for a pooran guru. That is why, they have been given birth in a Sikh family by God. One does not get birth in a Sikh family, with ease. Bhul chuk maaf
  18. Bro, is Sri Mehma Prakash available in English? Thanks a lot Bhul chuk maaf
  19. Bro, Vedas must be respected by all Sikhs. There is no doubt about that, but they cannot be put on the same level, as Gurbani. 1.
