  5. That Audio tape is like a ocean where beautiful concept of sikhi- peace of mind, get rid of suffering, scarifices, 5 vices all been discussed.

But its not for everyone..because i have tried this attempt i actually gave this tape to about 20 people. But they still cant figure out whats the point in the tape??

Its like you are dying for thrist but ocean is right front of you. You have doubts in your mind and your mind thinks its not a ocean but its a pond.

So its not everyone to beleive in and only people who can beleive in it its because vaheguroo wants them to beleive..

oh btw its baba ishar singh ji rara sahib divan... i be settin up my ftp server again on thrusday.. you can have it then.

  6. First of all ji

    welcome to the site.

You are right about genderaism in our punjabi culture however as far as sikh scriptures are concern there is no gender bias. Here what our guroo's sahiban said about woman-

    In praise of women.

"We are born of woman, we are conceived in the womb of woman, we are engaged and married to woman. We make friendship with woman and the lineage continued because of woman. When one woman dies, we take another one, we are bound with the world through woman. Why should we talk ill of her, who gives birth to kings? The woman is born from woman; there is none without her. Only the One True Lord is without woman" (Guru Nanak Dev, Var Asa, pg. 473)

Marriage is an equal partnership of love and sharing between husband and wife.

"They are not said to be husband and wife, who merely sit together. Rather they alone are called husband and wife, who have one soul in two bodies." (Guru Amar Das, Pauri, pg. 788)

Women have an equal right to participate in the congregation.

"Come my sisters and dear comrades! Clasp me in thine embrace. Meeting together, let us tell the tales of our Omnipotent Spouse (God). In the True Lord are all merits, in us all demerits." (Guru Nanak Dev, Sri Rag, pg. 17)

God is the husband and we are all his brides.

"The spouse is but One and all others are His brides. The false bride assumes many religious garbs. When the Lord stops her going into another's home, then is she summoned into her Lord's mansion without any let and hindrance. She is adorned with the Name and is dear to her True Lord. She alone is the true bride and the Lord lends her His support." (Guru Nanak Dev, Ramkali, pg. 933)

God is our Mother as well as our Father.

"Thou O Lord, art my Father and Thou my Mother. Thou art the Giver of peace to my soul and very life." (Guru Arjan Dev, Bhairo, pg. 1144)

Faithfulness to ones spouse is stressed.

"The blind-man abandons the wife of his home, and has an affair with another's woman. He is like the parrot, who is pleased to see the simbal tree, but at last dies clinging to it." (Bhagat Nam Dev, Bhairo, pg. 1165)

The rape and brutalities committed against women by the Mughal invader Babar condemned.

"Modesty and righteousness both have vanished and falsehood moves about as the leader, O Lalo. The function of the Qazis and the Brahmins is over and the Satan now reads the marriage rites (rape). The Muslim women read the Quran and in suffering call upon God, O Lalo. The Hindu women of high cast and others of low caste, may also be put in the same account, O Lalo." (Guru Nanak Dev, Tilang, pg. 722)

The practice of women burning themselves on their husband's funeral pyre (sati) condemned.

"They cannot be called satis, who burn themselves with their dead husbands. They can only be called satis, if they bear the shock of separation. They may also be known as satis, who live with character and contentment and always show veneration to their husbands by remembering them." (Guru Amar Das, Var Suhi, pg. 787)

The ritual of dowry so prevalent in Indian society condemned.

"Any other dowry, which the perverse place for show, that is false pride and worthless gilding. O' my Father! give me the Name of Lord God as a gift and dowry." (Guru Ram Das, Sri Rag, pg. 79)

  7. So basically what the majority is saying out there is that until I make the decision to become an amritdhari, I'm not a sikh...

Thats not what we are saying thats what gurbani says...scroll up you will see mr singh givin you the verse.. we are nobody to tell you what you are or not..we can show you the verse from the sikh scriptures...

Ok... how come Guru Nanak Dev Ji didn't start this up in the beginning then, how come Guru Gobind Singh Ji created it, what was the purpose of becoming an amritdhari. Couldn't a person place themself at the Guru's charan without physically changing themself???

Before guroo gobind singh ji ..there was a amrit called charan amrit as well where kesh was really important as well...

Thing is I'm willing to take up all the K's except for the kesh one at this point (which I stress is right now)...I'm born and bred in a canadian town, I'm very independent...I love wearing skirts and dresses, and enjoying life in general...I treat myself by going to get my hair down at the end of the year...(like colouring cutting, etc.) Is there something wrong with me then???

Kesh does play a important role in spirtual enchancement...if you see the porpehts from all the relegion they had kept unshorn hair all the times... hair concept is a sacred one...

No there is nothing wrong with you...but you gottta feeling inside that you can not keep kesh...thats quite common for youths... sikhism helps you control the mind...by controlling the mind you can get rid of all the suffering, desires and other stress in life....how you control the mind??? by understanding scriptures...reading them and following them...

what would u choose these "materealistic world" or "peace of mind"??? i would go for peace of mind anyday.....

  8. Also canadian jatti,

If someone from now on bothers you just ignore them because ignoring the world and attachin with the guroo's feet with no desires, ego, greed, anger, attachment, lust and being inferior... it cant get better than that...if you do that ji... you will see big change in yourself...you will get peace of mind.. anand hi anand...

And all you fools....our guroo's are hungry for love ..give them love rather than deciding who is sikh or not.. look at urself first....

  9. Main aim of an sikh is to be dust of guroo's feet which is sggs and follow guroo's hakum.

Note: Following guroo's hakum with no hestiation plays very important role in spirtual development and that is intiatated in khalsa way of life. People often say i m sikh from inside it shouldnt matter from outside. If a person can soo much inside by following guroo's hakum and then why cant person can change from outside?? 5K'S plays very important role in khalsa way of life where every kesh on your organ says vaheguroo's naam where kirpan is to balance soldier and saint concept where kanga take care of sacred hair, where kara take care of personal strength and where kachera take care of lust and other desires you might have.

    - Calling someone sikh or not sikh is not a job of anyone except the person who is claiming. He/she decide by lookin at the history if he/she deserve to be sikh or not.

I hope that helps canadian jatti sahiban :D

  10. isnt that the stuff dat strick hindus do? like some go into poses for ever, some tie themselves up to a tree forever and stuff. didnt Guru Ji tell ppl not do to do dat?

plz, i didnt mean to hurt anyones feelins.

ps - doesnt dat hurt the head???

Veer he is doing naam simran with full concentration... guru ji told us not to torture ourselves.. but he is not really tortuing himself is he??? it may seem to us but for him this a best way of concentration... so leave him alone... leave the poor sant alone under the feet of the guroo
