Luckily I don't have an open style modern kitchen, I always turn on the exhaust fan in the kitchen keeping the kitchen door closed. I use nice fragrance candles in the living room and near the main entrance (live in the UK) just outside the kitchen while cooking. Best to keep your bedrooms and wardrobes closed as well. Use a candle in the kitchen once I finish my cooking. Most important I cook curries mostly on weekends.
At work, I use polo and perfume to freshen my mouth and clothes resp. Someone is always eating curry in the staff room as gore loves it.
Nobody ever said I smell like curry.
Hope it helps!

Update since started Gayatri Mantra earlier this summer
*NAAM SIMRAN chanting has gone really good.
*Found Sachi sadh sangat, mainly focusing on NAAM SIMRAN.
*I have never felt lighter and better
* Previously I wanted to have friends but now I want to connect with WAHEGURU
I am reaping the rewards and carry on doing my nitnem prayers, GAYATRI MANTRA and NAAM SIMRAN.
WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH!

I am attending GMG GURUDWARA SAHIB regularly. It is very much the same as what I dreamed of or what a true gurudwara should be like. It is like 'Bhagti da Ghar'.
Mostly what I have experienced or noticed is good like simple food, simple clothes, a great focus on NAAM SIMRAN, helpful towards each other, no gossip while doing sewa in langar hall, no politics noticed and their main focus is to provide the best experience of naam abhiyaas and Gursikhi teachings to the sangat. Sangat is doing sewa from the heart not just a formality and the same is applicable to sewadaars doing naam abhiyaas and other sewas.
The overall experience is very good, I was praying for this dream gurudwara for many months where I could find sachi saadh-sangat and now my search is over.

Don't know the gurbani tuks but every religion teaches to treat parents like God and this is applicable to both you and your wife. Do you respect her parents and compromise in some situations? If yes, then she should do the same. If no, then you should set the example first for her to follow later.
Apologies for not adding any gurbani, but couldn't resist replying to this question !

Very true.
No words or video could do the justice to explain the experience there.

Attended Sunday event from 12.00 pm, enjoyed every moment, kirtan by children and grown ups was lovely, diwan with Waheguru simran was amazing and the way they read the Hukumnaama was magical.
Simple langar ( only sweet rice, daal, prashaada and tea) no fancy unhealthy items like jalebis, burfis, samosas, oil fried sabjis etc.
Even though a family presented with Rumala Sahib but no names were mentioned in the Ardaas and it was more on behalf of all the sangat.
No gossip going on in the main hall, everyone seems to enjoy baani and naam simran.
Sewadaar on duty requested mum to sit outside the main hall as she was constantly talking to her child.
Waheguru Simran by sewadaars inside the langar kitchen and washing area.
Superb Art Gallery !
Overall, MAGICAL EXPERIENCE ! I would definitely be attending weekend event on June 3 and 4.
I think it is a must-visit Gurudwara Sahib for UK Sikhs.

Waheguru sent this video for me, appeared from nowhere in the suggested list.
Worth listening, how a girl developed physical and mental issues by not doing mantra jaap with saihaj. Saihaj is very important, we often lost in number count or rush to finish on time.

Keep to 15 minutes until it gets stable. You'll intuitively know when to increase it. I increase it by 5 minutes per change. Don't be in any rush. Bani even says, just one moment with correct focus is life changing. It's not about quantity, but quality in my opinion.
Do 15 minutes for a few weeks and see how you get on. In the early stages, all manner of deep seated stuff from your karams and subconscious may come flying out. Let that settle down a bit.
Thanks for your kind advice, would surely follow and update after a month.

I found I had to build up over time. Increasing periodically.
I have done 15 mins yesterday and today, tomorrow aiming for more.
You are right in saying building up over time. Feeling little mentally tired, suffering from PTSD especially flashbacks symptom.

Bhul chuk maaf
I am willing to do one hour of Gayatri mantra and two hours of NAAM SIMRAN daily (1hr am and 1hr pm). Currently reduced my working hours, so trying to focus on spiritual development.

The facility, teaching etc is excellent but ultimately its down to the individual what they want to get out of it
Very true. Fortunately I am not into making friends or doing a fashion show in Gurudwaras.

I am thinking of attending one, they have a day long event (9-5) on every first Saturday of the month and summer camps too. This Saturday is the king's coronation and there could be bad traffic near london.
A naam abhiyaasi friend advised me to attend events there. GMG Gurudwara has night stay facility for the sangat.
I watch many diwans of Bhai Ajit Singh Ji in that Gurudwara on you tube.

Has anyone attended Naam Simran sessions/camps in Guru Maneyo Granth Gurudwara in Slough UK ?
It is not like other gurudwaras where mostly local sangat visit, but they have sangat from other counties and countries.

Update since last post above
Struggle: I could not focus on one inhale exhale technique while doing simran.
For example, while sitting in the morning for nitnem/simran it would go from throat to navel (WAHE) and then navel to throat(GURU) , while walking it would synchronise with steps, in gym it would go very different depending on the machine i am using and while lying in bed it would syn with my stomach going up and down. In brief I am struggling with this rhythmic synchronisation.
I am experiencing Anhad naad most of the time.
Does it matter which technique my body follows?

@paapiman I am doing WAHEGURU naam simran since last year, gradually added four nitnem banis to my daily routine by WAHEGURU kirpa. Now I wanted to do Gayatri Mantra for 40 days as having one issue which needed more Baani/Simran to cancel out my bad karmas.
Would it be fine to do two mantras daily?
My morning nitnem and naam simran varies from 45 minutes on working days to 2.5 hours on off days, same place and sunrise direction.

Visited 'Saada Pind' near Amritsar during my last visit, it shows the epic image of olden times punjab. It has a weavers house, carpenter house, ironsmith house, camels for transport, olden tools for farming, the biggest manja you could ever imagine and many more old things.

When do you guys do Gurbani Vichaar reading, I mean how do you manage time? Do you work full/part time or are you retired/semi retired? Do you help with house chores or any other activities at home? I am sure you do Nitnem and Naam Simran daily too.
Sorry for asking these silly questions!

Bichon Frise, lovely breed , a very good family dog, friendly, likes cuddles and going out for walks, not fussy, very good temperament, no complaints.
Cons- expensive dog grooming (white) and needs it every 6-8 weeks. If doing washing/drying/fur cutting at home then it took a good 3 hours, so time consuming. Don't like nail clipping.

Naam has the utmost importance and Gurbani shows the direction for reaching God. What is more important Naam or Gurbani?

Waheguru Ji Di mehar naal , I found video autobiography of Maharaj Sant Baba Balwant Singh JI.
PREMANAND MAHARAJA JI

Is here anyone else who listens to PREMANAND MAHARAJA JI on You Tube daily? I am finding answers to my questions in their parvachans. THEY ARE TRUE LIVING SAINT and say Universal TRUTH that aligns with SIKH religion too.
