  6. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh i was wondering as to what the sangat thinks about GurSikhs accepting prasad (offerings made to Hindu gods/goddesses) from Hindus. Sometime in the past i have refused from accepting it from my parents (who are Hindus), but it hurt them as they never hesitated from eating langar at the Gurdwara, and this act of mine was offensive to them. Although i wasn't forced to have it, i did feel bad. After all, whats wrong in accepting it if its done only as a sign of respect for another religion? Not like i am a worshipper of the deity! i know some (infact many) are gonna argue that its against the rehit, but disrespecting other faiths is also against the rehit, isn't it? Another probable answer i am expecting is "talk to them and tell them that u are not supposed to accept prasad". Well if a Sikh does this, it only gives non-Sikhs reason to reject Guru ka Langar too, dont u think? and wouldn't i feel bad then? After all everyone loves their religion the same way. Its gonna sound so disgusting telling someone else "i am superior, so i cant accept it. But u are free to eat langar". i am not looking for any clearcut answer to this issue as i m pretty sure that there may not be one. People like me who have family members of another religion do have to take that extra step in being accomodative and accepting of each others' beliefs. It wouldn't be wrong if i say that i have already made up my mind on this issue, coz i have my own reasons and limitations, but i do wanna know what other Sikhs think/feel about this matter. thanks for ur time waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

  8. A woman at a nightclub (Mumbai) on Saturday night was taken by 5 men, who according to hospital and police reports, gang raped her before dumping her at a bus stand in Mumbai. Unable to remember the events of the evening, tests later confirmed the repeat rapes along with traces of rohypnol in her blood. Rohypnol, date rape drug is an essentially a small sterilization pill. The drug is now being used by rapists at parties to rape AND sterilize their victims. All they have to do is drop it into the girl's drink. The girl can't remember a thing the next morning, of all that had taken place the night before. Rohypnol, which dissolves in drinks just as easily, is such that the victim doesn't conceive from the rape and the rapist needn't worry about having a paternity test identifying him months later. The Drug's affects ARE NOT TEMPORARY - they are PERMANENT. Any female that takes it WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE. The weasels can get this drug from anyone who is in the vet school or any university. It's that easy, and Rohypnol is about to break out big on campuses everywhere. Believe it or not, there are even sites on the Internet telling people how to use it. Please forward this to everyone you know, especially girls. Girls, be careful when you're out and don't leave your drink unattended. (added - Buy your own drinks, ensure bottles or cans received are unopened or sealed; don't even taste someone else's drink) There has already been a report in Singapore of girls drink been Spiked by Rohypnol. Please make the effort to forward this to everyone you know. For guys - Pls inform all your female friends and relatives, remember you also have sisters. " Your life is God's gift to you. What you do for others is your gift to God"
  9. If every human being (of any religion) thought and felt like u, this world would be heaven!
  10. From my personal experience, my Muslim friends were more accepting of my beliefs that anyone else. When by Gurujee's kirpa i started keeping kesh, they were the 1st ones to congratulate and encourage me. The ones who thought i was crazy were those who had "Singh" as a suffix to their names.
  11. another 1 by Kabir Jee and there goes Neo...smiling brightly when he reads the word ANAND ANAND HIIIIII ANAND !!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh just got some info from a local sardar i know who is from dubai...he says that its true that 5 Gurdwaras were closed down some 3 months ago...but 3 of them re-opened shortly after, which is why there wasn't much uproar about it...however, 2 are still closed...dunno if anything is gonna be done about them as the actual culprits in most cases are the gurdwara committee members who mess everything up. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  13. Thats it!!! Thats what I wanted to type but it never happened (coz i suck and i am lazy ) thanks a million Pheena veer for taking the time and pain...i mean...pleasure!!!
  14. This article is presented with the Gur Parsaad of Dhan Dhan Guru and God who is Agam Agadh Agochar Anant Beyant Dhan Dhan Paar Braham Paar Braham Parmesar: Let us pray to God and Guru with folded hands, with countless Dandaut Bandana at their lotus feet. With countless thanks to them with every breath of ours. With our head pressed at their lotus feet for ever. And for all ages to come may we remain at their Charan Kamals, with Garibi Ves Hirda. May we have utmost humbleness in our Hirda, full belief, commitment, trust, faith, Sachee Preet and Sachee Shardha. May we have true and unconditional devotion, without any worldly demands, with unconditional love in our heart for all His Creation and with our head pressed at the feet of the entire creation. May we always keep the Guru, Gur and Gur Sangat in first place and everything else at second place. May God and Guru give us the wisdom to understand what is the divine meaning of the Shabad "Manmukh". So we can understand and bring inside our Hirda the following points • what makes a person a Manmukh? • what are the characteristics of a Manmukh? • what are our own qualities, character and personality in light of the meaning of Manmukh ? • are we are a Manmukh? • or are we making efforts to steer ourselves in the right direction? The right direction means • heading towards the discovery of Eternal Truth, • towards the achievement of our real objective of this human life, • to become a Gurmukh, • to achieve salvation, • to get relieved from the shackles of the Maya • and be one with the Origin-Ik Oankaar Satnaam, Nirgun Saroop of Akal Purakh. First of all let us pray for the Gur Parsaad to understand the meaning of the Shabad "Manmukh". This word comprises of two words - "Man" and "Mukh" : MAN "Man" means your own mind. The mind is a invisible part of your body which is controlled by your own "Matt" meaning wisdom. Self-made wisdom is called the "Manmatt". It is based on your own education and also the rules of the society you live in. This is also called the worldly wisdom – "Sansarik Mutt". Both the Manmatt and Sansarik Mutt also contain some element of the "Durmatt". The "Durmatt" is the evil wisdom which prompts you to : • do bad deeds, • commit sins, • get involved in all kinds of deeds which make you selfish, • involve you in slander, gossip and back-biting ( Nindya, Chugli Bakhili), • doing bad to others, • hurting others, • cheating and deceiving others and so on. Basically all the Manmatt falls under the operation of Maya. All the actions and deeds conducted under the influence of Manmatt happens under two of the three parts of Maya : 1) RAJO (Desires & Negative Criticism– Asa Trishna Mansha Nindya Chugli Bakhili) and 2) TAMO (Panj Doots – Kaam Krodh Lobh Moh Ahankaar – prompted by Raj Joban Dhan Maal Roop Rus Gandh Sparash ) In a nutshell the mind operates under the directions of wisdom that is self-made, worldy and evil (Manmatt, Sansarik Mutt & Durmatt). All of that wisdom is gained under RAJO and TAMO parts of Maya. In order to blessed with the Guru's Divine Wisdom (Gur-Matt) we have start by practicing truthful deeds. That comes under the third part of the Maya called SATO. It means we have to practice: • kindness (daya), • forgiveness, • humbleness, • love; • Dharam-eternal truth Ik Oankaar Satnaam, • Naam Simran, • practicing Gurbani, • practicing truth in daily life, • being truthful in all actions and deeds, • work towards getting a control over the mind and Panj Doots, • restrain from doing Nindya Chugli Bakhili, • restrain from harming, cheating and deceiving others; • helping others, • giving Dasvandh, • surrender to the Gur and Guru, • Seva and Parupkaar, • efforts to achieve the salvation, • efforts to get out of the shackles if Maya, • work towards relieving yourself of all kinds of doubts, delusions, illusions and distractions; • Santokh-Contentment, • controlling desires, • no greed • Sanjam-patience, and • stability All these truthful deeds take us towards reforming our self-wisdom (MANMATT) with divine wisdom (GURMATT). Gurmatt shows us the path to defeating the three states of MAYA and going beyond it into the fourth state (CHAUTHA PAD) – Eternal Truth – SAT. This is the path to becoming a Gurmukh. MUKH The second part of the word ManMukh is the word (Shabad) "Mukh". This literally means "FACE". Whichever way your mind is facing (MUKH) defines the path you are following. The direction you are facing defines what influences your actions and deeds in your daily life. MANMUKH The word Manmukh describes the person who is "facing towards the worldly mind". Wereas as a GurMukh has his face towards GUR (God ,Guru and Gurbani). The Shabad "Manmukh" basically means "the person who follows his own wisdom". But his own wisdom is nothing but a mixture of Sansarik Matt and Durmatt. The result of his own education, his own learning from his environment and the rules of the society he lives in. In a nutshell the Manmukh is the person who operates under the influence of Rajo and Tamo attributes of Maya. A more practical and easy to understand preview of the qualities of a "Manmukh" are briefly described as follows: 1. Who has no belief in Gur, Guru and Gurbani. 2. Who is not committed to the Gur and Guru and Gurbani. 3. Who has no faith in the Gur and Guru and Gurbani. 4. Who has no trust in the Gur and Guru and Gurbani 5. Who has not completely surrendered himself to the Gur and Guru. 6. Who doesn't follow his Guru's words of divine wisdom. 7. Who doesn't give Dasvandh of his time to the Gur and Guru, means who is not involved in the Seva & Simran and doesn't give 10% of his time to the Gur and Guru. 8. Who doesn't give 10% of his earnings to the Gur and Guru. 9. Who is ruled by the Panj Doots. Whose life is ruled by any of all of the Panj Doots: Kaam Krodh Lobh Moh & Ahankaar 10. Who is ruled by the desires. 11. Who is involved in the negative criticism - Nindya, Chugli and Bakhili. 12. Who doesn't practice the divine wisdom – Gurmatt – Gurbani in his daily life. 13. Who doesn't love all the creation of the Almighty. 14. Who is full of hatred and discrimination. 15. Who doesn't recognize that all are equal, all are human beings. 16. Who doesn't think and do good to others. 17. Who lives a life full of Dubidha – delusions and illusions. 18. Who has no humbleness – Nimrata in his behavior. 19. Who is not kind to others. Who is not kind hearted. 20. Who is not honest in his deeds. And the list goes on. The bottom line is that : the person who is not a Gurmukh is a Manmukh. A person is a Manmukh until he has : • become a Gurmukh he will remain a Manmukh. • completely realized Almighty he is a Manmukh. • all his Bajjar Kapaats – all his divne doors including Dassam Duaar & Divine Eye open • been blessed eternally with the Gur Parsaad of Anhad Shabad Amrit • been eternally blessed with the activation of Sat Sarovar – seven centers of the spiritual energy with in the body • been eternally blessed with the highest Amrit – Atam Rus • become a Puran Khalsa by virtue of a Param Jyot Puran Parkash in his Hirda • merged in the Almighty's Nirgun Saroop completely. Only a Puran Sant is not a Manmukh. Only a Puran Braham Gyani is not a Manmukh. Only a Puran Khalsa is not a Manmukh. Only a divine soul who lives in the Dargah of Akal Purakh is a Gurmukh. And until that happens a person remains a Manmukh because his inside is not completely cleaned up. And until the inside is not completely cleaned up and becomes a Puran Sachyara and capable of seeing, speaking, hearing, delivering and serving the complete eternal truth, the person will remain a Manmukh.
  15. i dont think age has anything to do with Amrit...there is a sakhi in that audio katha posted by Pheena veerjee (oye Sukhi yaar when u gonna listen to it  ...making me type portions of it over here...u know how many calories i burn up typing? and i m already toothpick size skinny  ...anyways...juz messing with u )...its like an 8 yr old kid had to take amrit, and was refused by the panj pyaare...the dad was called in, and asked "will u make sure that he does all 5 nitnem baniaan daily?"...the dad goes "isn't Guru Gobind Singh his dad once he takes Amrit?"...they say "yes"...the dad says "well then its upto Gurujee to make sure that he does his daily nitnem baniaan!". the point is that age is no bar...some kids are spiritually enlightened from previous lifetimes and are fully ready at a really young age for Amrit...surprisingly they even keep proper rehit strictly...but usually it is advised to take amrit once u r mature enuff to understand the commitment and rehits... plzz forgive any mistakes... ps: Sukhi !!!!!!!!!...listen to the kathaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!
  16. so the problem probably is the ego of certain "amritdharis" who consider themselves superior and belittle non-amritdharis versus possible intimidation or jealousy experienced by non-amritdharis or other "Sikhs" who don't understand the essence/significance of Amrit and mock amritdharis. solution amritdharis starting to follow "ho sabhna ki ren ka to aao humaare paas"..."first become the dust of everyone's feet n then come to me", and realize that taking amrit is a new n fresh start of the journey, not the destination. and non-amritdharis starting to understand the importance of amrit, and admitting their present circumstances as "not favourable for taking amrit" and trying to make attempts towards making those situations as "favourable" sometime in the near future...admitting ur flaws or inability to accomplish something isn't necessarily degrading. thats what i feel...forgive any mistakes in my 1 cent
  17. Pheena Jee posted a link to a Punjabi katha by Bhai Sarabjit Singh Jodhpuri on Amrit and Logic. Its also available on www.proudtobesikh.com. I suggest one should listen to it (its only an hour long) and it may answer most of your questions about Amrit. Just to add on to that, a relationship without commitment is no relationship. One is just putting oneself in an illusion if there isn't any commitment. Its comparatively easier to get away if you cause any sort of damage to a relationship without commitment, rather than the case when you were committed. Amrit is committing yourself to Guru Gobind Singh Jee, that you will live by the code of conduct prescribed by Him and not follow your own mind which is bound to lead you astray thanks to maya. The rest I shall leave for you to listen in the katha.
  18. i have been around Dubai since nearly 6 months and know of 3 Gurdwaras where regular keertan programmes are held...there are other Gurdwaras as well...which Gurdwaras are these people talking about? ...as for mandirs, there are just 2 from what i know, and atleast 1 is attended by people regularly...forget about closing masjids, its a Muslim country! well, the Gurdwara i go to is made inside a camp where construction workers (mainly Sikhs) live...and the Dubai government has granted permission for it, and the land is granted by the company. Could someone please provide more info, as to the names and locations of the Gurdwaras?
  19. ok i didn't know where to post it, so i m posting it here...didn't find the gup shup section...lol do u wanna know who/what u were in ur last life ? go here: http://www.thebigview.com/pastlife/ all u need to do is enter ur day, month and year of birth...thats it !!! this is what i got : september 4 1979... I don't know how you feel about it, but you were male in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere in the territory of modern North India around the year 700. Your profession was that of a builder of houses, temples and cathedrals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your brief psychological profile in your past life: You had the mind of a scientist, always seeking new explanations. Your environment often misunderstood you, but respected your knowledge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation: Your lesson is to study, to practice and to use the wisdom that lies within the psychological sciences and in ancient manuscripts. With strong faith and hard work you will reach your real destiny in your present life. ok now to make this fun, every1 find out bout themselves and post it here...and yea, this is juz for fun and not to be taken seriously... enjoy !! ps : dang i musta messed up seriously...coz i m reborn in north India after like 1200 years...hahahahaha...mind of a scientist...hmm...nah, i sucked in engineering...lol... lets go people !!
  20. i think this is more of a morality debate...whats wrong for one person may or may not be wrong for someone else...and thats perfectly normal and natural as different people have different mindsets and standards...to sum it all up, the best way to rid yourself of all this mental and psychological complications and complexities is to NOT feel guilty about anything u may have done (no i didn't say u did something...lol)...accept whatever comes in life as God's will (yeah, i said WHATEVER comes)...if u make up ur mind to do this, life can be a lot more easier... now about paap, well, i read somewhere that whatever u think, do or say, imagine Guruji with u all the time...if u think He won't like it, then obviously u won't do it...makes sense?
  21. reminds me of a story when a person went to his/her place of worship, and the only thing he/she had to offer God was his/her sins...now the question arises "why sins?"...because sins or paap means paa + aap, paa means to obtain or get, and aap means urself...soo all that u get urself, all those karams that u have urself made a burden on ur head are paap...now whatever 1 offers God is a small portion of what He has given us already...and so offering ur sins is the only thing u can offer, because those are the only things u earned/obtained/got on ur own...i think thats why Gurujee repeatedly asks us in Gurbani to live in Waheguru's will (bhana)...once u let Him guide all ur actions, thoughts and words, u wont worry about sins/paap as all that happens thru u/by u is Him working it out...so where is the place, or where is the question for sins? sorry if i didn't make sense or confused u
  22. i made this up long back S : Shahadat (martyrdom) : a Sikh's aim, or atleast an honor I : Ibadat (worship) : a Sikh's religion K : Khidmat (service/sewa) : a Sikh's duty H : Hifazat (protection...of the weak and oppressed) : a Sikh's responsibility
  23. ice cream has egg  ...nahi chahidi  ...lolll...juz kidding... well i will have to search for it...will do it and type it out for reading...its not a whole lot...maybe a few more lines, i think...but make sure u remind me ...
