  1. fasting is going well pra ji. Im quite glad this month came along.. I really needed it to get my mind and spirit back on track. The food issue is just secondary... its the spiritual cleansing and focus that feels good.
  2. "you should avoid eating food made by people that are angry while makin it as much as possible." ... so dont piss off your wife!
  3. Does anyone here know of any Sikh orphanages in Punjab? I would like to get their contact info for a friend who wants to travel there for a year to teach English to the children. I managed to find some Christian orphanages up on the net but Sikh ones would be good to contact first I think.
  4. What exactly is considered jhoota though? For example, if I was to tear a roti in 2 and give one half to another then would that be jhoota? Would eating daal from the same dish be jhoota? Of course eating someones leftovers would be jhoota but what about sharing as mentioned in the other 2 examples? Let me know which donut you like praava coz Im coming down 1st weekend of December. If you are at the Dera before me then Id like a xtra large triple triple with a toffee glazed donut please
  5. N3O... I didnt know eating someone elses jhoot was a forbidden according to Sikhism. Can someone provide quotes on this? I know for muslims it is quite the opposite... infact muslims are encouraged to share their food and arabs will sometimes eat out of the same large dish. It is said that there are blessings in this and adds to that sense of brotherhood. But ofcourse you wouldnt share with someone who is bamaar. N30... I was gonna share my Double Chocolate donut with you at the "Dera" next time we met but I suppose Ill have to buy you your own lol
  6. Everyone please pray for the victims of this horrible disaster.
  7. It was good to read this. Sometimes we get caught up with minute details and nitty gritty things in religion that we tend to overlook the basics and the pillars.
  8. Religion and politics are intertwined. If by politics we mean the law of the land then even the Western counties have their base in Biblical law. Things are changing gradually though. I think more spiritual and religious minded people should get involved in politics. A reason for this is that it has become almost a taboo for a politician to be accociated with religion (especially in Canada I find). But I also think that corrupt people who use religion will find their way into this just as we have corrupt people in politics right now. Getting involved in politics can become problematic also if one is religious minded. Following party lines may go against ones core beliefs... supporting gay marriage for example.
  9. This is a goshawk This is a Saker Falcon My guess is that it would have had to be one of these 2. Thinking about it now it is probably unlikely it was a gyrfalcon.
  10. Kiddan praava. Ramadan begins Oct 5. Could be a day sooner or later depending on where you are i the world and when the moon sighting is.
  11. haha! ok we will start the recruiting process over some double doubles
  12. My guess is that he had a goshawk as those were quite prized by people in India and Japan. Could have also been a saker falcon or gyrfalcon because the arabs and persians really prize those so because of moghul influence and conections it could have been one of those birds.
  13. Recently I was at a Ontario Hawking Club bbq and I managed to get some good shots of some eagles and falcons that the host kept. I thought I would share them with you. Golden Eagle Bald Eagle Saker Falcon Eagle Owl
  14. N30 praava, Ill be passing thru your pind on the first weekend of December so maybe we could all get together for a bit at Timmy Babay Dha Dera in Bramptonagar. Thanks for the compliments on my kids picture God bless
  15. Havnt been on here in a while. I thought it was about time I came back and surrounded myself with the company of the good people on here. In Islam it says the angels look for groups where God is being remembered and shower blessings on that group so it is good to be in your company. Anyway, Ramadan is coming around for me so its about I shaped up a little bit spiritually and tried to get myself back on track again. Intensive month for spiritual reflection coming up for me and its good to have the positive support of some my Sikh brothers and sisters on here and my Muslim brothers and sisters elsewhere. Oh and I also want to show of a photo I took of my little daughter Simran on my motorbike
  16. Its getting worse. Even in converts your will find some of the worst extremists. Take for example the bloke in charge of Findsbury Park Mosque at the present moment in London. He is a white british born convert. Extremism is a disease and it is spreading. Extremism tries to justify itself with logic... these people actually think that what they think makes perfect sense. Cancerous diseases need to be cut out. The thing about religious extremism (especially in Islam I find) is that you will find it at many mosques so children are fed this poison in doses in Sunday school and by frequenting the mosque and being around extremist people. Im not saying all people in mosques are religious extremists but you will almost always find that element there. Muslims in the West especially have to do a house cleaning and sort this problem out as it is getting quite out of hand. By the way I think it is more socially acceptable these days to be atheist than religious because so much evil is done by people in the name of religion. Atheism feeds on religious extremism and fanaticism.
  17. Does anybody know if his bird had a name? Oh yeah.. check out the photos I took from the falconry course I went on last week... 18. The first of the 5 prayers for muslims is called Fajr and it is supposed to be done before sunrise.
  19. About bloody time too! England has become a safe haven and breeding ground for extremist muslims and its about time they started to fix this problem.

  21. Yeah there was that Sai Baba "miracle" that got caught on tape... he was pretending to materialize a gold chain out of thin air but the camera caught him pulling it out from the bottom of a tray. Maybe he did have the ability to do riddi-siddi but lost that ability. "Guru Busters" duplicated most of his "miracles" and showed the public that it was mostly slight of hand tricks.
  22. How would Sikhs here feel about removing their turban to wear a helmet and then putting the pag back on once you get to your destination? It sounds like a bit of a bother to me especially if you were going to work on your bike... would it be too much of a bother?
  23. I believe in England Sikhs can wear their turban and still be able to ride a motorbike. Isnt it about time Sikhs in Canada were allowed to do the same? I think the Canadian Sikh population is large enough and there are many Sikhs in places of power to bring about some changes to the helmet laws. With that said Im picking up my new motorbike next week! Whoo hoo!!! Lets get the laws changed so I can take Barinder and Harminder on a ride! Wot a lovely thing it is too!
  24. A lot of these missionary miracles have been proved as fake on tv. Even Sai Baba was caught on tape faking miracles in "Guru Busters" I believe. Miracles do happen but I think the cases are rare.
  25. Oh yeah I think I remember Harry telling me this now. Where is this written though?
