  1. yes that 'sant' 'brahmgiani' even 'mahapurash' are beign used mroe like bestowed titles then recognition of someones state of being is regrettable.
  2. theres also an old chinese buddhist from way back who travelled through panjab and into india.
  3. actually Kaljug and Shahhediyan I just realised that you have shared from a personal perspective in your own way. so thanks for that too
  4. i think the ideal kathak brings people closer to Sri Guru Granth, not acts as an intermediatary or insert their own or other peoples thinking. but have yet to see such a person giving a lecture.
  5. you call sanskrit and brij basha foreign? (hindi didnt even exist then- you're referring ot somethign else!) what is persian the native tongue?
  6. what is seva? what do we understand by seva? please share. the reason i ask if because it is clear that when we do seva, we serve the One. we do not serve people? We serve Him by serving others, or serve Him in the form of others. isnt it wrong to say that seva is service to others?
  7. balbir i like your posts but we should be careful about doing ninda of people. even if we feel they are misguided.
  8. in other words, talk about things Bhakti related, but from a personal/own standpoint and not theoretical/speculative standpoint
  9. uh thanks guys for turning this into a discussion LIKE I SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO. LOL kaljug it would have been fine for you to say 'oh i feel nothing but i carried on'. but instead you turned it into a discussion topic. very telling. i think the point has been misunderstood (my fault i wasnt clear?). i was not asking about personal experiences, which are obviously personal in their nature. what i meant was personal talk about how to approach bhakti? i mean to encourage each other as a sangat? devotional aspects. also if people read any quotes about Prabh but they want to share, please do. or even any (short) sakhis. please people no essay type responses here... cough cough
  10. " Āvhu bẖaiṇe ṯusī milhu pi▫ārī▫ā. Jo merā parīṯam ḏase ṯis kai ha▫o vārī▫ā. " Come, dear sisters-let us join together. I am a sacrifice to the one who tells me of my Beloved. please let us share personal accounts and own experience about naam bhakti and naam japa. no theoretical discussions please! let us put our differences aside and discuss the Master of us all. anyone reading this please do contribute. anything is okay as long as it pertains to you own bhakti and naam japa. no comment is too small or irrelevant. and please do not criticise anyones post. let us share and not comment on each other.
  11. seems no one knows. could you tell us about the book?
  12. shaheediyan as usual just trying to put down someone instead of responding. your idea of educated is some patiala uni students essay good luck to you. im no 'modernist'.
  13. if you really believe that why would you bother posting here at all? why read books and go do 'sangat of singhs'? why dont you just read the ONLY text as far as sikhi is cocnerned (im sure you can figure out what i am alluding to) and go sit somewhere and follow its guidance? the fact is that the reason you peopl are so threatened by 'Kala Afghanist' is because like you lot they view religion as purely conceptual entity. you are worried that your concepts will be unsurped by theirs. you people are fixated on institutions, ideas, interpetations etc. e.g. what consequence is it to someones worship if they believe in reincarnation or not?
  14. singh2 Sikhs have two gurus, Guru Granth and guru panth. guru panth is for temporal affairs of sikhs. A sikh is a saint-soldier. That is why Harmandir sahib and akal takhat. We are not comparing our Granths. both granths are equally important and are not rivals. They complement each other. Nothing change overtime. that is your concept but not of sikhs at large and akal takhat. theres no such 'guru panth'. seems like sikh clergy have fabricated this idea in order to seize power. Akal Takht was Guru Hargobind's throne. Much later after Guru Gobind Singh's times some Singhs used to convene there to have democratic meetings. it seems peopel are confusing this as meaning 'guru panth'. The Akal Takht as used in the modern sense seems fabricated. These people of SGPC sitting there thinking they can issue hukamnamas to the panth are deluded. SGPC are an administrative body, Akal Takt is not theres to sit on. Infact all 5 takhts are a modern fabrication. They are not a Guru tradition. Im tired of 'Institutional sikhi' being forced onto all of panth.
  15. as i have said, they couldnt even keep basic understanding of Guru Granth Itself, so now they are telling us that these Vaars are key? so you see if they dont have fundamental knoweldge themselves, then their authority is already undermined. they probably influence each other. no Amrit Sanchar=no sampardes even. whereas if they dont have Gurdas Vaars are you saying they will fall apart? No offence was Gurdaas Ji the only person is history to teach about Gurbani? If so they might aswell all merge into the 'Gurdas Ji samparda', if they are all based on his lectures. there's nothign in Gurdas Vaars that anyone 'needs' in order to understand Gurbani. so its not necessary, much less an authority. so wheres the 'key'? Gurdaas wasnt enlightened himself, and theres no evidence his writting was parvaan (approved by Gurus). so forpeople to quote his words side by side with Gurbani as if they also have authority seems inappropriate.
  16. also Amrit Sanchar exists without the sampradas and their teachings but not vice versa. the same centrality cannot be applied to Gurdas ji's vaars in these sampradas. therefore i do not think this comparison is fitting.
