  1. It happened sort of suddenly. I'm still fitting into the role. "Hear ye, hear ye all. Behold my words for I am the great guru Dal. What I sayeth shall be writ for so is it proclaimed by the great flying spagetti monster in the sky! Beware ye, beware! The horned one lurketh amongst thou even as I speakth." "Repent thine arrogant behaviour for the man who unjustly striketh down another with his word is the beast of men and shall suffer eternal damnation and buggery in the depths of the fire pit of the horned one! Repent thine ways!" "oohhhoooo!"
  2. When did I become a Guru? No one told me?! As for being HSD's Guru, you honestly think I have any sway on him.....seriously.... What the hell guys, come on! We can discuss this stuff without insulting each other. Calm it down. There is no need for any broadsides when doing discussing issues. Come on man!
  3. We're f**ked. Until we move from rural pendu-centrism to more sophisticated, educated worldviews we wont truly progress as a society. It may inadvertently happen as the rural communities get decimated and are forced to move to towns en masse. But then maybe they will simply bring their backward thinking with them and spread that? Surely the petty mindedness will attenuate when they are exposed to the big wide world? But then again they may just choose to play petty politics like they do in the UK through Singh Sabha Gurdwaras? I don't think we will grow until we are forced to because we are on our knees? Until then expect more of the same.
  4. This generation is f**ked. Maybe the next one will wake up en masse. Then effect the subsequent one. And that's wishful thinking!
  5. I don't about the former but the latter have retained their masculinity and have a deep understanding of female psychology by the looks of it. From what I see of Hindus in the UK they are infinitely more open and warm to outsiders than Sikhs, maybe this plays a part too.
  6. That cannon vid was a good find. Okay so nothing is going to happen for at least 3 generations then.
  7. I'm talking as in some perceivable movement with motion, support and traction within the panth, not one or two individuals with no sway on matters. None of the Khalistanis even seem to have a realistic clue about social dynamics and nation building! We truly are rudderless as a community right now.
  8. These two things are often related from my experience. Too often I've seen ambitious Sikh girls think 'forget all that crap' when they witness the plain backward, obstacle course that comes with simply being with a Sikh man of their choice. There are almost invariably complicated family issues like dodgy suss's or objections on the stupidest of pretexts (i.e. caste), then they feel the men are too controlling etc. etc. so what do they do? They take the easy option and go with a gora who lets them do what they want and not only that, they get an extra hand up in their careers as well for joining the 'team'. A big aspect of this is Sikhs being able to create an economy where women can progress and achieve their career objectives in a positive way and not have to sell out to get ahead. I can't even imagine our penducentric community even thinking on these big scales. Plus lets face it. If you are going to educate your daughter she is unlikely to view her existence as one of raising children and looking after the home. These days it is infinitely easier for an attractive 'exotic' female to get ahead in industry in the west. They can quickly and easily make more money than a bloke. In the meanwhile our lot just carry on like the apelike man who is just behind the homosapien in the famous Darwinian picture of man's evolution. Under these circs I might not like what they are doing, but it doesn't surprise me that they do it. What are Sikh men offering Sikh women these days in terms of opportunities? Seriously, answer that. Because that all comes into play. Instead we sit around like fudoos complaining with no big plan of our own.
  9. Let's all take a deep breathe chill for a second. I know the thread has seriously deviated from the OP but the discussion is still interesting. I want to focus on this statement. I'd like to ask this. If the 'reigns' of Sikh destiny where hypothetically back in our hands, where do people think the driving and dominant forces that exist within our community, would take us? Because right now, I can't see a drop of progressive, forward thinking, intelligent thought for the 21st century amongst any of us. We just don't even seem to have the imagination right now for anything grand or sophisticated. My worse fear is that in the absence of anyone visionary and capable pendus will drive us back to the feudal ages if they were left unrestrained.

  11. When life is rigorous and involves daily hard physical work like rural work would entail in undeveloped or semi-developed environments, it stands to reason that people in such contexts develop a robust attitude to towards physical hardships and and an indifference to austerities. However, when the same people stop doing the said work (say due to new technology or cheap labour) and start to live in luxury, would they retain the characteristics that made them tough?
  12. Okay but you've totally discounted the potential effects of 'social engineering'. A large part of apneean being like this is because of the social engineering of goray. They create a lot of subtle pressures and inducements for it both material and psychological. It stands to reason that if apnay ever organised and used similar principles properly themselves they too could (in all likelihood) create/mould a society broadly along the lines they wish to see it.
  13. They would just call that commonsense and preparation. War strategies to ensure you put the odds in your favour. Anyway, I don't know how we got from freshies murdering each other to this topic. If you want to continue it, maybe start a new thread under the yudh vidya sections?
  14. That is bullshit, that section of society produces the bulk of the mid/higher ranked soldiers/commanders of the country from what I understand. Whatever you may say about them (and I say a lot about the marauding bastards) they certainly aren't afraid to war.
  15. So your message is to take no action because we can do nothing? Seems a bit defeatist, though I do get your sentiment about ill conceived attempts having an opposite effects to the desired ones. So we just have to sit there and watch apneean become gorian then.....
  16. This is cool! We have a resident nurse in the hoooouuuse! SA rocks!!
  17. Maybe it's a Indian cultural thing then? Here you get plenty of pampered toffs who play rugby for example, so a tough life isn't necessarily linked to physical stature/ability here.
  18. I'm just waiting to an apnee to turn up on one of those 'slut walks' next. lol
  19. That's not true, some of the fighters came from well to do families, without hard times. Daljit Singh Bittu and even Bhullar are examples of this.
  20. I don't know if she was talking about Sikhism or Feminism myself, it says: Also: The problem with desi people is that they don't understand the impact that growing up in the west has on females. So whilst they condemn Tejpreet types, they never seem to produce workable solutions to preventing the westernisation of apneean. Sure, a part of it is simply down to the ਅਸਰ of growing up in liberal western societies, but clearly a significant component is a result of Panjabi patriarchal dominance and perceived hypocritical treatment towards daughters compared to sons. That seems to make a few jump on the feminist wagon. Don't just complain - produce and embody solutions as well. We are going to have more of these types in future, not less whether we like it or not. If you feel it is an issue, how do you think it can be contained?
  21. You're a dinosaur London, have the good manners to quickly go extinct. Don't ruin Sikh forums with your jaat paat buckwaas please. Go to where it's valued. The quicker your type of vichaar goes extinct the better. There is no positive future to be had through Jat culture - just more insularity and hatred. Your under an illusion that Jat culture represents dharam, the opposite is frequently true. The best, most progressive future we can have is through Sikhi moorings, not pendu caste-centric ones. Wake up and smell the coffee. The games over - although it will take years to undo the damage caused by people like yourself. History wont remember you well. You've just been a big obstacle to progression with your ill-conceived notions. Whatever you were born into doesn't mean you have to follow it blindly like a sheep, even when it must be patently obvious to you that it is the cause of much unnecessary negativity. Move into a positive direction through Sikhi, leave backwardness behind. This goes for any apnay of any jaat who foolishly cling to it.
  22. Well, I haven't had a heart attack yet. I need to get on top of this thing before I get there I guess. lol
  23. I think the cholesterol is not related to my food intake as it was up when I hardly used to touch ANY saturated fats at all. I think it may be 'familial hypercholesterolemia' as a couple of older people in the family have it too. Curiously none of them are visibly overweight, infact some of them are quite slim! Some of the more obese members of the family have significantly lower cholesterol levels than the slim jims! From what I understand (and this is your time to shine!) the portion of your 'fat level' that corresponds to what has occured through diet is the triglycerides. And mine are low possibly suggesting the issue isn't diet wrought. I do eat a lot of good fats too so my HDL levels (good fats) are quite good. I've been told to take simvastatin but have heard a lot of bad things about them. What do you think? Plus tell me about acute myocardial infarcts please, I presume they are the result of coronary atherosclerosis?
  24. I have to say. I took the time to have a look at the picture to test what you are saying and did not feel any sexual arousal whatsoever myself. So maybe what you are saying is a subjective thing more than universal? Then in fairness we must also point out the brothers who like to hit the gym and then wear 'tight fitted' clothes to show off their dolay and that. I'm sure some girls must feel a bit aroused by that, but no one condemns the boys.
  25. From what I understood kharkoos turned down offers of help from people here. Some people did fight though, don't know how many. Probably small number, none seem to have got caught.
