  1. Don't you think it's just a little exterme to say that said problems would vanish if we were all vegetarian?
  2. Ha....we have you all beat... We have the biggest cars! ...but dem Germans have the autobahn.. :x
  3. damn right..let the illegal fireworks begin! well not tonight, but tommorrow at gurudwara!
  4. haha...Canadia... sorry I had to, just not used to so many people saying good things about Northern US...errr....Canada..
  5. The what is done is done attitude I believe relates to the fact that Iraq has already been attacked. If you read carefully you would notice that both us "americans" did not agree with the war...but since it has already happened might as well as stay and rebuild the country. And I will not deny that there are claim for oil, but dude we aren't exactly hurting for oil. We buy most of our oil on purpose so we don't tap too much into our reserves. And you speak of propoganda, and then you cite Farenheight 9/11?! There were some credible things in that movie, but to say it is full of accurate facts is stupid. I think you are the one being influenced by propoganda. And I state this again I try to maintain an objective point of view. I do my research, that is why as much as I did not like Kerry, I still didn't want Bush in office. And back to your original post, it still doesn't make sense...you generalize way too much, and in that respect I assume you could demonstrate how 84 is similar to so many other events in the world.
  6. History always repeats itself. Peace, prosperity, etc...never last forever. Civilizations rise and they fall....Ours is unfortunatly falling....
  7. dude, I think you have things very wrong....it is not nearly the same situation, and I think you need to do a bit more research before you claim such absurd things...oh and if the US wanted to demolsih Faluja then it would have been done a while ago, I don't think that is the intention. Also know that I say this as a person who is opposed to that war.
  8. US..quite happy living here...can't imagine other places being much better...
  9. Man...that just really pisses me off! How could something like this happen? Stupid ass shit..I don't take crap from anybody, and I would fight back. You can call me wrong, but kids who take abuse get nowhere. You need to stand up for yourself, fight back if you need to. Not only will your self-esteem not go down, other people won't pick on you. Most people just pick on others they know will take it passively. My younger cousin used to get punched by a kid on the bus, and he did nothing, I found out when I saw the bruise on his arm. I told him next time punch the kid back (self defense). He did and that kid has never bothered him since.
  10. A v. P, this movie was in theaters a while ago..are you talking about it being released on video/DVD? I saw it in the theaters, decent movie...
  11. But if it must be sharp, then does it not become illegal to carry it? I'm not trying to fight, just saying then that it is a weapon. And I feel perfectly safe if I see a sikh with a kirpan, but what about other people. From their prespective they just see a person with a sharp knife. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on this (anyone can answer)
  12. Do it! Hell, I would have joined the ROTC here, but In US no turban wearing at all. A rule they passed back in the 80's I think. Anyway I don't see why more British Sikhs don't join, I would love to.
  13. If you mean Age of Empires, then yeah I play AOE-have every singe game and expansion. Have CS, but suck at it...lol I also play Ultima online, a really fun game. Anyone else play Ultima Online?
  14. Oh, well I'm not sure how it works where you are..but in the US the most advanced high school courses you can take only equate to introductory college courses (provided you pass the AP standardized exam). And yeah, if a school doesn't offer a "pre-med" program then I would reccomend majoring in Bio, Chemistry or any other science (the first two are still very helpful). Again my info is based on how it is in the US, so it might be different for you, but I hope this gives you a lil bit of help.
  15. I think it depends on how other people ask you. If the people asking you aren't sikh or don't care then they don't really need to hear a sikh point of view. Example if my moderatley christian friend asks me for advice I am not going to tell him what he is doing is incorrect by citing Guru Granth Sahib. But if someone asks you if a sikh would do something then give them that point of view. I know many people will not agree with my thinking but that is how I am. The advice you give people should be for their benefit and should be stated in terms relevant to them. To me religion is personal, and I since I'm not the perfect sikh I don't preach to others to be good sikhs. My apologies if I have offended anyone.
  16. I'm an undergrad myself and am studying Business, but my brother just graduated from medical school here in the US. So I will try to answer as best I can. First I don't know what you mean by if your "school doesn't offer?" Also how will you complete Chemistry and Biology in high school? College level courses are more advanced, and as per my knowledge you have to take many courses in Chemistry to gain a degree in it. So to just give you a general idea Chemistry and Biology are the most helpful, if you want something else then do any science really. Residency is after medical school, and specializations/fellowships happen after that if you so choose...ex. my bro just graduated, he as a 5 year residency (1 year internal medicine required of all medical students, then 4 years in radiology).. So its a long path, good luck...Hope I have been of some help.
  17. Maybe in the Mid-West...here in NJ all the cops are ok so far..Never been harrassed by anyone yet cops, airport, security, regular people...so it hasn't been bad so far....So stay where other minorities stay..lol...usually better people there.
  18. That's ok, but I still don't know what you said..as I don't know what perma bhakti is, lol..I'll do some research thanks for replying.
  19. Buddhists believe in rebrith and not reincarcation because beliveing in the latter would imply some sort of soul or thing that gets reincarnated. Buddhists do not believe in the concept of soul or anything within us which is permanent. Hence the use of the word rebirth.
  20. Sorry to go on a tanget here, but Neo you just mentioned bhakti marg... Well I know that one of the three paths in Hinduism is bhakti marga (path of devotion to a god)...I realize in Sikhi it's different. But I have never heard of it used in Sikhi, so I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind elaborating a bit..thanks.
  21. No, "ours is not the hardest path". All paths are just different. Also Hindus believe in reincarnation dubbed samsara, and they have mukhti dubbed moksha. This belief has been around longer than Sikhi I believe. Also buddhists believe in rebirth (not reincarnation) and they as well believe in liberation (their concept is Nirvana, full enlightentment). So these views are not exclusive to Sikhi, in fact Sikhi has been influenced by these thoughts that were around since before the Sikhs. P.S. The Hindu religion also has "jivan mukhti" (Buddhism included). Anyone feel free to correct me if I have made a mistake.
