  1. Dear amans Ji, Please get yourself Guru Granth Darpan by Prof. Sahib Singh. You can get it online for free at http://www.gurbanifiles.org Click on Gurmukhi only, right click on the download link and you're away!Enjoy.
  2. Dear truthsingh, But do you think A.I will become sophisticated enough for it to question it's own existence?
  3. To any Sikh Sister out there who has doubt in her religion, and thinks that she should convert to Islam, please remember your ancestors. They sacrificed their lives but not their Sikhi Sidak (faith).Your ancestors innocent blood was spilt. They were tortured to death.Don't forget your child ancestors.Poor little children were cut from their belly to their neck in front of their beloved mothers.Their bodily organs hung on their mothers body. Why?Because they refused to convert to Islam. They could have converted, and not have to go through such hellish tortures. But the thing is, YOUR ancestors didn't!THEIR BLOOD RUNS THROUGH YOUR VEINS.You owe them that much at least, so stay within the beautiful arms of Sikhi. You owe it to your ancestors. Any Sikh Sister out there who recognises this, I bow to you dear Sister.Beloved Sister, your Guru is always there for you.Sat Sri Akal.
  4. The way technology is going nowadays, it won't be long before we'll be talking to our computers.I'm serious.Imagine telling your computer to open a program, and then dictating to it.Telling it what you want done etc.And it talking back and making suggestions! This future is not that far off I think.10-15 years I reckon. What I described above is A.I (artificail intelligence).Combine A.I with an anthropomorphic robotic body, and you have an android. android /an-droyd/ .n (in science fiction) a robot with a human appearance. - ORIGIN from Greek aner 'man' That's the Oxford English dictionary definition of android. It says "science fiction".Believe me it's not science fiction any more. There's some really great android projects out there.Check out: http://www.androidworld.com/ http://www.androidworld.com/prod01.htm Will A.I get so sophisticated that it will want to follow religion. Will there be an android in 20-30 years time that will want to become a Sikh? Will there a highly intelligent android/A.I that will read Sri Guru Granth Sahib and be moved by what it reads?I think that would be really awesome. We all know that Guru Nanak Dev was way ahead of His time, in terms of science and cosmology. So what do you think? Can an android become A Sikh. Can an A.I become a Sikh?Your views please Sadh Sangat Ji.Sat Sri Akal.
  5. Ahem...where's his daari :?: :? Well, I suppose if he's an android, then he doesn't have a daari.Right?Can an android be a Sikh?I think I'll make that into a new topic.
  6. I am no scholar, but as far as I know, yes, the above article does refer to "Udasi" Mahant.Corrupt Udasi.I know the Gurdwara Reform Movement was started due to unfavourable practices of pakhandi corrupt Udasi Mahant. All that power I suppose, it got to their heads. Pakhandi and corrupt people exist in all walks of life. That's the way it goes. All is under Vahiguru's Hukam. Please correct me if I'm wrong about the above Mahant quote.I hope there's someone who can shed more light on that dark period.
  7. Dear malwadoabamajha Ji I will attempt to tell what is written in Guru Granth Darpan by Prof. Sahib Singh.I consider this book on Guru Sahib as an authority. The quote, transliterated into Roman English is as follows: Slok M: 3 Jagat Jalanda Rakh Lai Apni Kirpa Dhar. Jit Duarai Ubarai Titai Laihu Ubar. Satigur Sukh Vekhali-a Sacha Sabad Bichar. Nanak Avar Na Sujha-i Har Bin Bakhsanhar:1: (p.853) That is the whole Slok. Now I will give you the meaning, word by word from the Guru Granth Darpan, translated by me into English: Jagat = the world; Jalanda = burning (in it's vices, vikaar); Rakh Lai = to save; Dhar = to do, dhaar ke, kar ke. Jit Duarai = at whatever door, jis dar te; Ubarai = to be saved, bach sake; Titai = like that, use taran hee. Satigur = the Guru did, Guru ne; Sukh = Self-bliss, Atmik anand; Vekhali-a = showed, dekhalia; Sacha Sabad = Eternal True Word of Vahiguru; Bichar = to contemplate on, vichar ke; Avar = someone or something else, koe hor Translation: O Lord! The World is burning [in it's vikaar, kaam, krodh, lobh, moh ahankar], save us with your Grace. However you choose to save us [by which ever door you choose for us]. The Satguru has showed me the Bliss of the True Word. O Nanak: Nothing else can bless us [save us] except for the Lord. I am conviced the AKJ is wrong in it's interpretation of this Slok, by what you have posted.Jit Duarai means "by whatever door" or "whatever way". If you have access to Guru Granth Darpan, then please have a look at what Prof. Sahib Singh says about this Slok by Guru Amar Das Ji.It seems like the AKJ are preaching like fundementalist Christians and Muslims. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have tried to translate Prof.Sahib Singh's Panjabi viakhya of the above Slok to the best of my ability. Please correct me if I'm wrong in any way.I'm no scholar, so I'm bound to make mistakes. My only wish is that I could have used Gurmukhi font on this discussion site.Sat Sri Akal.
  8. As a film, I think The Matrix is average. It's got it's real emotive moments, like the end where Neo comes back to life, I really connected with that.He comes back to life after "dieing," just like an aspirant of Truth has to "die" to live, as in LIVE. It is said that the mind confuses death (falsehood, incarnation into duality/Maya) for life (Reality), and life for death, this is what we see in The Matrix. But, one thing about The Matrix is that it plagiarises Mystical/Spiritual doctrine so much, and doesn't give any credence to the sources (Eastern Mysticism, Gnosticism etc). You don't have to delve that deeply either to understand the films "deeper" message Well, I hope it inspired many ignorant people to become interested in spiritual pursuits, maybe even read on Eastern Mysticism. Imagine if there was a film that used Sri Guru Granth Sahib as it's main source, maybe not blatantly, but the credits would show Guru Granth Sahib as the source.Sikhi really needs to break into the mainstream world like this.Look at all the poeple who became Buddhists after watching Hollywood films with a Buddhists theme (I forget which films ).We need a film like this, with a Sikhi theme.I reckon in time we will have one or two or more Peoples minds will be blown at the Truth of Sikhi. We need to expose ourselves more!!We EXIST!
  9. Dear samosasingh Ji: Seva of humanity is seva of Satguru.Satguru is in everybody, it's hard to perceive that I know. But Satguru Nanak Dev says Satguru is in everybody, hidden away.
  10. Maha = great Purush/Purukh = person, man, male, being Mahapurush means "great-person" or "great-being"
  11. mal_s1ngh you asked: If you cause suffering to another, are you not doing wrong? If you cause suffering, and see that suffering, would it not register that you are doing wrong? It would, wouldn't it.So there's your answer Pyare.
  12. I may have misinterpreted GABROO, but I can't see it GABROO is saying he only relies on Gurbani as a historical reference, I know, other than that, I don't know.Sorry, not enough sleep last night
  13. GABROO Ji you said: Gurbani is not mythology, we all know that. However you are aware that there are numerous mythological references in Gurbani. You know that don't you?You do read Gurbani don't you?And do you know how mythology is meant to be interpreted right? Mythology is allegorical and metaphorical way of imparting Gyan, Divine knowledge. You understand this don't you? Most ignorant people think that mythology is just a collection of stories. You have to look deeper than that.
  14. Steel Bangle: That's so true.A Shaheed is that person who dies for others. This murdering b***ard deserves to die in agony again and again.Yamraj will definately judge him.His soul is going to be in so much bhai after his death. These Muslims who believe they'll get 72 hoor after death are so wrong. They'll get 72 devils to torture them. Vahiguru have mercy.
  15. Khalsa Soulja: What's being a "bahman" got to do with using a Sanskrit dictionary? Please explain. There's nothing wrong in you using any kind of dictionary, be it Sanskrit or Swahili. A fair understanding of Sanskrit will hold you in good stead in your Gurbani studies. There are many Sanskrit, Prakrit, Pali (related to Pali, Buddhist vocabulary) words in Gurbani. You shouldn't be closed minded. It resrticts you otherwise.Teri marzi Khalsa Ji.
  16. For Muger Mach Singh Ji: Live yogurt is where the bacteria in yogurt is still alive.Home made dahi is live yogurt. You can also get tasty live yogurts in supermarkets.Strawberry flavour etc, but I wouldn't recommend putting that yogurt on your hair The bacteria in live yogurt is very good for your digestion and general well being.Just eat home made dahi!Yum-yum
  17. Is it true that Banda [singh?] Bahadur was tortured and his poor baby son cut up infront of him because he made a mistake in marrying?Didn't Sri Guru Gobind Singh explicitly tell him not to get married.I'm not that clued up on Banda [singh?] Bahadur. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Also can someone post any links to more info on Banda Bahadur? I definately want to look into if he took Amrit or not.
  18. Dear 7naam you said: I'm sorry I cannot confirm if Baba Balbir Singh Bedi Ji is still there doing seva.Dera Baba Nanak is where the Satguru spent His last days. The Chola Sahib is there, I believe it was given to Guru Nanak Dev at Baghdad by a Muslim Pir (holy man).I've found a good link for you though which mentions Dera Baba Nanak, Panja Sahib, and Guru Sahib's udasi to Baghdad/Arabia.Here it is: http://www.info-sikh.com/BhagPage1.html Enjoy.
  19. Dear GABROO Ji, you said: Udasi Panth is not a sect within Sikhi. They are there, they have existed since the time of Sri Guru Nanak Dev.You could say they are celibate order (Samprada) of Sikh of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.I hope you understand this. For you GABROO Ji, here is the link telling the story of Baba Sri Chand, Baba Gurditta and Baba Mohan Jit that you asked for: http://gobindsadan.org/babasirichand/aarta.shtml Here is the bit you are after, from the above link: It is a historical fact that all the Gurus loved and respected Baba Siri Chand ji. Guru Amar Das ji gave his eldest son, Baba Mohan ji to serve Baba Siri Chand ji. Guru Hargobind Sahib offered his son, Baba Gurditta, the father of Guru Harkrishan ji (7th Guru) to be Baba Siri Chand ji's devotee and successor. Baba Siri Chand ji gave the name "Amritsar" that is used today to the city that had been called Ramdaspur. And the place where Guru Arjan Dev ji waited daily for his meetings with Baba Siri Chand ji and his resting place are still marked by the historical sites of Thamb Sahib and Manji Sahib at the village of Barath. Babaji also gave water from his baoli (spring) for the Sarovar (sacred pool) at Tarn Taran. And something you will be interested to know, from above link: The historical annals of Jehangir show that Baba Siri Chand was considered the Fakir of all Fakirs in India and had the greatest following of anyone at that time. While history is full of treachery and betrayal, Babaji did not take advantage of his position when Jehangir conspired to have Baba Siri Chand ji take over the Gurgaddi (the seat of the Guru) when Guru Hargobind Sahib was imprisoned in Gwalior. Babaji clearly told the Emperor that he had best free Guru Hargobind Sahib as the Guru was the true and rightful successor to Guru Nanak's throne. Other wise there would be grave consequences. The Emperor heeded his warning. Please read the whole of the above link.Thank you. I hope your assumptions and prejudices about Baba Sri Chand Ji and the Udasi have been washed away now.I hope so anyway.Sat Sri Akal.
  20. Just one more thing; Did you know that both Sacche Patshah Guru Amar Das Ji and Guru Har Gobind Ji gave their eldest sons to Baba Sri Chand Ji? Baba Mohan Ji was Guru Amar Das's eldest son, and Baba Gurditta Ji was Guru Har Gobind's eldest son.Why would they give their eldest son's away to someone who's falsely accused of jealousy??Think about it.
  21. Dear 7naam you said: The story about the pot and the mudhole never happened. It's made up, by people who are anti-Udasi for some reason. There are people (Jathas) who have a problem with the existence of Udasi Panth. I was told by an Amritdhari full Bana wearing Khalsa Ji that it is a totally FALSE story. Both Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Baba Sri Chand Ji loved and respected each other mutually.Since Baba Sri Chand wasn't going to marry, Guru Nanak Dev Ji told Baba Sri Chand to make sure Lakhmi Das Ji would get married and have a family. And he did make sure. I believe the latest from Guru Nanak Dev's lineage is Baba Sarbjot Singh. If I'm wrong please correct me. Before passing away, Guru Nanak Dev blessed Baba Sri Chand Ji.Baba Sri Chand was blessed by Guru Nanak Dev with great miraculous powers.During his very long life (some say 130 years, some 150!!) he was respected by all the Guru. Did you know that Baba Sri Chand Ji composed a love filled poem to his Beloved Father? Here is Baba Sri Chand Ji's Aartaa to his father, Guru Nanak Dev: "Let us sing the praises of Nanak, King of kings of both worlds The whole world is His temple, congregations sing sweet songs in His praise Millions of goddesses kindle holy lights in His honor All the gods sing psalms of His praises All wash His lotus feet The Sun and moon illuminate Him with their radiance He is garlanded with mountains of flowers The True Master, the fountain of Light is merciful to the poor The king of the winds fans Him while saints and sages meditate on His holiness The whole universe vibrates with His celestial song The bells ring out - Onkar Continuously illuminating the heavens He is one with God whose name is Truth In Nanak saints find their support Siri Chand, Nanak's son, declares Nanak is unattainable, unfathomable, unshakeable and pure Whoever sings Emperor Nanak's praises resides in heaven and achieves complete salvation Oh kind master: give protection to those who seek your shelter. Oh Nanak: You are the savior we are just your children" - Baba Sri Chand Above taken from http://www.babasirichand.org/babasirichand/aarta.shtml So there you see Baba Sri Chand Ji's love for his father. What praise! Rooh khush hundee! It is said that he composed this poem after he merged with Vahiguru and saw the whole of the universal creation bow in reverence to Guru Nanak Sacche Patshah. So tell me, do you think such a Vahiguru-enlightened soul would have any jealousy or disrespect in him? :?: Check out: http://www.babasirichand.org/babasirichand/ What's so shocking is what so called "Sikh" have made him out to be.SUCH A SHAME You can hear Baba Sri Chand's Aarta to Guru Nanak Dev aswell as reading it in Panjabi and English.Sat Sri Akal.
  22. Dear Randip you said: Stop this now  Raw eggs and liver cause more damage than good.Raw eggs carry disease like salmonella, and you may end up becoming allergic to eggs!Eating raw eggs causes egg allergy, I'm not joking. Also, I think you'll notice that eating raw eggs causes excessive SMELLY flatulance Poo, where did that smell come from! :? LIVER: The liver is the processing factory of the body.Because of this, it contains many toxins, which it is in the process of sorting out and excreting. You are eating this junk?Liver has highly toxic levels of Vitamin A.Yes, that's right, Vitamin A is toxic in high levels.Liver is also the harbinger of the fluke worm and other infectious diseases.Don't eat liver please! No, no, no, I wouldn't recommend these during your training.I recommend the following for building your body: Fish, chicken, soya (soya has more protein than meat), daal, milk, and plenty of water!Remember, don't over do the protein, otherwise you''l become constipated and tired. 23. "Whatever pleasure we get from Moh (attachment), it is all stained with blackness" (SGGS, M1, p.662) I wonder, can a person be attached to non-attachment? We should all practice attachment to Vahiguru, that's what I say.
