    786

what is the significance of the number 786 in islam ?
  2. Good afternoon Mr S Im sure the admin can provide you with a list of previous dicussions that may interest you, use the Search option its great! Hmm, well i would ask you, do you exist? If you say yes, then you accept that you exist within an existance. That existance is known to some as 'Har'. If you say no, read Descartes. Existance is everything there is. (that includes you) Belief doesn't come into it, you just proved it to yourself. The varities within the existance are all linked( Ik Onkar), they are diverse and 1 at the same time, hence Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Jaap Sahib formulates 'ik hai fir anek hai' ( x to the power of 0 = 1, x can be anything, but due to the mathematical significance of the power of 0 they are = 1(har)) Another way of looking at it, when a lay person walks into a jewelery shop he sees rings, chains, necklaces, etc he differentiates because his mind likes to do so! On the other hand a spiritual person will walk into THE SAME SHOP AND JUST SEE GOLD( because he has REALISED that x to the power of 0 =1) Sukinder, please note, many subjects we study in school and college are a search for the truth; Science - scientific truth Maths - Mathematical Truth History - Historical Truth Guru Granth Sahib Ji maharaj starts where all these subjects are heading, , Satnaaam. When you ask a scientist about thier discoveries they will normally say, this is the scientific truth,,, AS FAR AS WE KNOW,..... The Truth in gurbani is Eternal, it is timeless and therefore is science will always be trying to catch up with Gurbani! Foreveryday use Gurbani provides a range of meditations to make you a HAPPY PERSON, in fact it wakes you up to reality(your true self) Gurfateh Harpreet
  3. I suppose this guy has been upto dharam raj and had a full blown debate with him ? Serious N30 that post from Topaban has created more questions than answers. The writer infers that you will not get mukti if as a Gursikh you remove your hair. I agree mukti is immensly important for a Gursikh, if hair was essential for mukti wouldnt has the Guru sahib put a specfic rule down, ie dont remove hair from any part of the body in Guru Granth Sahib Ji!?(please provide evidence of a shabad if you think Guru ji has done so) If by removing a single hair, you cannot get mukti, i feel sorry for Bhagat Jaidev( he only had a bhodi). The writer inputs a fear element into his post by saying; Sounds like he wants you to keep your hair out of fear of the Dhram Raj ! As a side note, i must say that the attitude shown towards the scholar on this forum is somewhat childish, his approach towards the Rehitname seem to be objective and based on historical fact. A couple of you peeps seemed to have teamed up against Mr L and have resorted to name calling and other derogatory comments because frankly you have no real evidence and lack knowledge to defeat Mr L's comments. You are a sikh - you learn, even when you are a bhuddha! You seem to be very passionate about Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, so why dont you try to follow his example, he was fuent in several languages........ they wrote bani in different languages...... I would also like to add that i dont cut my hair from any body part, because i dont see the difference between my hair on my head and under my arms. However that does not mean that im going to carry out a personal attack on Mr L and acuse him of being a hindu because i disagree with him. It means that i should analyse his evidence, and if that is in another language then tough, you want to prove him wrong then so be it, learn the new language and prove him wrong academically. If you love your sikhi that much and feellike the wrong message is given out, then dont just sit there and moan, go learn the languages and win debates on a academic level. Name calling is signs of ignorance and insecurity. Gurfateh Harpreet

  6. So can you Eat meat in the UK ? Im sure the HSE wouldnt favour back garden Chatka, I have been advised to start consuming meat again because my sister had Laxi Joints - it kinda runs in the family which means have that condition too(but it is less extreme). Is Tuna fish okie Mr L ? Gurfateh Harpreet
  7. MY friend once said to me 'When the woman gets out of control press the reset button(the bhindi)' Only joking Harpreet
  8. The Uk does not have a WRITTEN constitution. The justification for this is 'flexibility' to allow 'changes in society'. The Lord Chancellor(selected by the Prime Minister) has judicial powers too, this shows that he has an Executive role aswell as a Judicial one!? This is allowed because its a 'tradition of the Uk unwritten constitution'. In this students view, its an abuse of an unwritten constitution. How the hell can a Cabinet Member be the head of the House of Lords?! How can an individual with a political role have enormous Judicial Power too!? How can he act objectively in the House of Lords aswell as act subjectively when debating in the House of Commons?! Yes, my friend from Iran(who now studies dentistry at QMW) told me they did the equivalent 9 A levels whereas we(UK) on average do only 3! Gurfateh Harpreet
  9. Mr L, firstly :yo: I would like to add the fact that i have come across many sikhs girls who actually do not mind dating Kesdhari Sikhs, however they do say VERY OFTEN that they say that they find it really hard to find a decent one! Many reasons are; Most of them drink(excessively) Those who dont drink are normally very intimidating, not very approachable, they seem uptight! They act like they know a lot about Sikhism, then at night you see them at clubs grinding with anyone and anything There are some say that they dont like Kessdharis, because they are hyprocrites( One girl told me her bad experiences with her brother and father - that has put of Keshdharis). On that basis i think it a bit harsh having a massive 'pop' at our ladies. LETS FACE IT IF WE WERE PROPER MEN, WE WOULD BE ABLE TO LOOK AFTER OUR OWN WOMEN, PERIOD. Gurfateh Harpreet
  10. There was a thread about this before http://www.sikhawareness.com/sikhawareness...topic.php?t=924 thats the basics. Theres a guy at my uni, hes a Radhasoami, they believe basically in living Guru. They believe that Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj is not the Guru but a mere 'recipe book to find the True Guru'. On a general note, they believe that many shabads in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji are telling us to go and find the True Guru. In the UK they have a HQ at Haynes Park where they hold satsangs. During the satsangs they discuss the meaning of some shabads and how to apply them to your life. Anybody is allowed to enter. Their greeting is 'Radhasoami!' They also have a Seva - rota- you go and perform your seva for an allocated time period that time and do seva Why are they doing well; - Human Interaction - the 'guru' offers a human medium to help your spiritual growth - They have dicussion in satsangs, where they discuss spirituality and how to apply it in life note - not common in gurudawaras - They do not believe in Amrit - less commitment required to be a 'pakka' Radhasoamis - They are very friendly at their satsangs - You do not need to go to the gurudwara because your guru is not there ! - You do not need to think about making donations to your gurudwara, for the same reason. - You can do seva of the 'Satguru', who is yes you guessed it, living! On a personal point a wsie man once told me that the Radhasoamis are a confused lot! why, because they have got Guru mixed up with Ustad(teacher). Your guru is the face of the DIVINE! whereas your utstad is just a teacher, relaying a knowledge taken from the Guru(who is the face of the divine).... On a personal note, to any radhasoamis reading this i would say, WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH DHAN DHAN DHAN GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI MAHARAJ! Human Lack of knowledge of general population Helping the poor Loving hand - inviting people to come
  11. I have commented in brackets () Driving the Darkness Intoxicated and frustrated was he Shouting abusive very freely he found dark was his room (spiritual darkness/ kalyug of the mind) Shouted at darkness and caught a broom Hitting the darkness the furniture he smashed Struck, smashed, called names and thrashed. Broom broke he used his hand bare Fingers were bleeding he didn't care. He shouted and shouted more did he shout The obstinate darkness was not getting out After having made every fuss He started praying to jesus Jesus arrived and switched on the light(jugs of darkness disappear with 1 falsh of spiritual light) The darkness disappeared in a flight, Everybody is making the same mistake Desparation is everybodys fate. We try to DRIVE AWAY WHICH IS NOT THERE WHY TO FIGHT SATAN,MAYA WHICH IS NOT HERE Children are not lazy(your 5 vices) Given worthwhile, interesting they are busy TELL THE CHILD NOT TO DO AGAIN HE WOULD DO! What a foolish God was He! Do not eat that apple thee! Commanded Adam and Eve It became a SOURCE FOR TEMPTATION( we talked about this) GOD THREW THE COUPLE IN DESPARATION AS LONG THE DONTS WITH THE COMMANDS STAY The people will be tempted not to obey (catch my drift) Better Don'ts WITH DO's YOU REPLACE people will do with a happy face We grope in the dark shame and pity As there is abundance of electricity By M S Cheema Read this poem a few times PN theres alot in it Time for bed otherwise tomorrow i will be the walking dead by Harpreet Singh Gurfateh
  12. Good morning/evening PN I sit here in front of my screen and relate your story to mine, i must say that i find it astonishing! We have so many things in common! Pahji, Sikhi is all about enjoying life! Guru ji didn't come down here on earth to make us miserable! He came to liberate us(from ourselves, me,my,i,(homai)! Free us! TOO MAKE US HAPPY, balle shava ! 8) Why are you restricting yourself with principles, DO NOT IMPOSE SIkhi on yourself, it is a very dangerous thing for you to do, i speak from personal experience pahji. I used to try and force myself to do things eg. i told myself you must not look at girls. This surpression just fed my Kam, in the same way if you surpress yourself and FORCE restrictions on yourself it will damage you. Like a steam cooker, the pressure(from all the restrictions you have placed on yourself) will build up, and eventually EXPLODE. This can happen to people too! They put so many restrictions on themselves, rules and more rules, FORCING SPIRITUALITY HAS ADVERSE EFFECTS, its like forcin youself to love someone - you cant do it! If i told you love a girl(who you had never seen), you would find it very difficult, you could FORCE yourself to love her, but the more you force yourself the further away she goes! From personal experience, just let it flow, be an observer! Do not get into a big rush about spiritual and try to force it upon yourself. 2 yrs of searching? i'm afraid PN its been many Jugs! In Islam they say you will get liberated when you die! So if you do all good deeds you will go to heaven. Nobody has been to heaven or back, there is no proof of it(scientifically), its like me saying to you, here ill give you a blank cheque(religion), and cash it when you die. Guru Ji gave us the formulas to achieve mukti whilst alive! they didnt say believe this and you will get this! they didnt offer us a blank cheque to deposit in heaven! they gave us Gurbani and mukti whilst alive! WOW! :yo: If you give me your number i will get you into contact with some guides. Tell me about it! The best line i had was, 'huppy you look like Hagrid out of Harry Potter'. My parents at one stage suggested that i should re-think this' religious phase' before letting my hair grow - its part of the process PN, parents just need some time to get used to it! Singh dont get invloved in these thoughts just be like the scientist, obeserve! For example, imagine you have a test tube in your hand, then you heat it. The water then boils, do you start boiling with it! hell no, you just observe. PN, i know some people may disagree, but why on EARTH DID YOU FORCE YOURSELF TO CHANGE. Sikhi is inspirational, it wakes you up from inside! Now you tell me if you plant a seed in dead soil will the plant grow, no! In the same way you have to nurish the soil! what with - Love - which can not be FORCED. Imagine sins we do as a big tree. By stopping ourselves forcefully to stop doing(negative) acts we are just cutting of the leaves. They will soon grow back! Guru Ji has given us formulas to RIP THE TREE FROM ITS ROOTS! (look at Jap ji sahib - its full of hundreds of formulas) Singh this is what happens when you force it upon yourself, lemme find a poem for you.
  13. I must say im rather surprised at PN's comments, he seems to be an intelligent guy but he is basing his decision on Sikh politics and the sikhs he has met in the last 2 yrs? PN why dont you do the same with Islam, i would love to see your thoughts based on Islamic History. Why not go to the source ? - Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj - why on earth did you think Guru Arjan Dev Ji began compilation of the granth? i believe he knew that in Kalyug people were gonna be unreliable so Guru Ji put his STAMP, his APPROVAL on the Adi Granth(that is what it was called at the time). There are many reasons why people disagree on Spiritual Issues. Sometimes this is due to different stages of spiritual growth, gurbani is like a flower, you plant one shabad and it grows inside you, when you read it again it means something new, why because it is alive! Guru is living ! PN i used to HATE SIKHS, i thought they were a bunch of EGOISTS with FIXO on thier dharis always asking for money to build an extension on the gurudwara. PN i made the mistake of judging a religion by its people! dont do the same. From experience i have learnt that PEOPLE ARE NORMALLY UNRELIABLE GO TO THE SOURCE!!!!! You said that you believe in god. A man once said that 'sikhism is not about believing in the existance(some people call this god), its about loving the existance'. What is there to believe, existance is right in front of you, you need not believe anything. belief doesnt come into it at all, its fact. Also Khanday-o tiki valo nikki - the path is as sharp as a sword and as narrow as a hair. Sikhs you have met are obviously off the path! It is not easy being a sikh dude! but, with kirpa anything is possible! PN if you wish to find god(you have done so, but you havnt realised it) then continue on your journey. BUT BEFORE YOU GO GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER. Gurfateh Harpreet PN if you READ THIS PM ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER.
  14. begs the question, did Guru Gobind make SGPC the panth? If yes - do they have lineage all the way back to realisation of the panth(1699)? If no, then how are SGPC(which is indeed a group!) the panth? In relation to the topic at hand, you commented on the Sarbloh Granth, I would say that the kind of attitude that leads to loss of heritage and sikh tradition as well as values. We as Sikhs must investigate all available Granths , Tableji dismissing them is a very and ignoring them could be an insult to Guru ji, because at the end of the day they could be Guru Ji's writings. Singh, you also stated that you dont need Sarbloh Granth to live, one could argue that you dont need Guru Granth Sahib to live either! (ie most people in the UK havnt even heard of SGGS but they are still living) The Gurbani is there to help us live happily and in 'chardi kala'(it has many other roles also), the Sarbloh Granth could contain further formulas(from the Guru) that would help us live life as a Gursikh! Why miss out on a chance to learn further by simply closing your eyes and turning your back on a Granth ? Gurfateh Harpreet

  16. From a personal view i would say that Amrit takes you ie. when 'you'(ego) cease to exist and realise(rather than understand) that everything is just being done. Some say God is doing everything - they say 'rab sub kuch kar da hai', personally i can see the duality in this relationship, 'you' - God, and me. By saying 'rab sub kuch kar da hai' there is still some ego, becuase you are still in the equation, by trying to relaise its 'being done' may be a better approach. Ms S Khalsa and forum , what are your views regarding taking Amrit, in the sense that; 1. if you turn up to a smagam and take Amrit from the 'Panj Pyare' do you automatically become a Khalsa? 2. Do you think that Bana should come before internal spiritual development? 3. Do you think there should be more stringent role taken by the panj pyare in the sense they should 'suss' out the Sikh before the ceremony? 4. Do you think you can reach a high spiritual stage without taking Amrit? Kind Regards Harpreet
  17. Thats one way of looking at it, indeed mugermach, an interesting post. Also X to the power of 0 = 1 X - lets take this to be 'Mugermach' The power - represents the Ego. If the ego becomes zero then he will be 1. So if the power is anything other than 0 then 1 cannot exist. So if we can get ego to become 0 - then 1 exists 1 = realisation Another application of X to the power of 0 = 1 Jaap Sahib - 'ik hai fir anek hai' X = any number - ie in practical terms any being - plant, animal, human etc Lets take the power zero to be constant for the purpose of this explanation. If zero does not change then x can be all sorts of numbers, but it will always equate to 1 Same way - Ik hai = 1 Fir anek hai = x no matter what X is, it will always = 1 Balle balle Uncle Cheema (biblo: M S Cheema - Self realisation volume 1 ) :bravo: Gurfateh Harpreet

    Converts

In my recent experience's at uni its not so much the conversion of Non - muslim girls but more the exploitation of them by certain groups, in particular muslim boys. I have repeatedly encountered sikhs girls 'messing' around with muslim boys at uni. The muslim boys say that sikhs girls and hindu girls are 'easy' and 'thick' . Why do our sisters do this? I think its to do with the lack of education they have about Sikhi, WHAT WILL THEY TEACH OUR KIDS IN THE FUTURE GENERATIONS? Hence we should now take this opportunity to recognise the importance of sikh societies at uni, programmes at the gurudwara for the sikh youth and many other activities. If we teach our siblings about the jewels the Guru and the panth have given us, they themselves will become more aware of certain groups trying to exploit them. They themselves will fall into love with Guru Ji and won't need to go through these bad experiences. Through education- we can PREVENT these situations. As a forum we should be aware of this situation and Ms Khalsa is right in pointing this out. Let's act, in your local area start something for the Sikh Youth, be all embracing, loving and share the fountain of knowledge given to us by our great gurus and the panth. I make a final Ple, i beg you people out there not to look down onto the sikhs siblings that have gone off track, dont just label them as 'manmukhs'. It is OUR DUTY as Sikhs to pick up these people and educate them about sikhi! This site is an example of a group of people who have seen the lack of awareness in the SIkh Youth, and have ACTED. Gotta give it to them :yo: Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh !
  20. The original title of the thread was GGS Seva, if i where to comment further on Ms Khalsa's comments it would not be of any benefit to the Singhs original question and the forum generally, as they are off topic and rather personal. Sorry Singh, couldnt help you Harpreet Ps Ms Khalsa check your personal message box.
  21. please read post carefully before commenting, you should as a 'Moderator' should know the difference between QUESTIONS and CRITICISM! Why do you have to get personal, your supposed to moderate, ! not JUDGE!? 'silly question' - Miss Khalsa, please this isa questions and answer zone, again as a moderator why are you calling our questions silly? we asked the questions out of curiousity, now your calling them 'silly', you might aswell SHUT DOWN THE QUESTIONS SECTION, your comments undermine the existance of this thread. Please reconsider your approach. Its getting too personal, ill stop there Sorry Harpreet Ps Mr Singh - question all you can!
