again i don't want to get involved with this converting thing again... but i JUST want to be the other person against all of u! lol (j/k) i think RELIGION is a choice and understanding, one should except anything, right? isn't a sikh that CHOOSES to be a sikh a better sikh, if a GIRL or EVEN A MEN, YES OMG MEN CAN CONVERT< NOT ONLY THE LIL GIRLS, itz like all of u guyz are trying to be the big tuff brother trying to say omg our girlz, our kuriz are converting, like girls don't have a brain or sumthin, OR maybe they do and its PEEPZ fault for not converting, i don't think this should be a problem, accept other peoples choices and respect them for it, don't cause chaos over conversion... so we lost some, but we gain some! and therez brains between those two girl's ears... and i know u ain't targeting to other people, but its the girl's choice, and we can't be ignorant and appauled by it, so she doesn't want to be a sikh, well its her CHOICE and well if u ask me, if she doesn't want to be a sikh, she obviously doesn't know her religion, again i agree i have no idea of the situation of UK, but i heard the stories.... and u might think i don't understand, but i think i do.... u don't think other religions that have members of the community convert to sikhism have these situations as well?? it doesn't matter, let the person be damn happy! one ps. those stories sound a lil crazzzy! ok well if u ask me if u are going to give someone something, its should be food, u need food! imagine life without food! When i was in kenya... it hit me how many poor people there are... i knew it was bad, but when u go somewhere it hits you even harder! well my cha-cha and fam told me not to give them nothing.. so i did what they said, becuase once u give one person something, they all come after you... its kind of scary and sad at the same time. Well i just couldn't just stare at lil kids tossing a paper ball around with empty stomaches, so me and my cuz got a big box of cookies, decided to go to where the kids were playing (most of the kids had bloated stomaches) and we gave them like 3 each or so, and we rannnn like anything back home! lol even here.... the best thing u can do is just give food to food banks and give ur old clothes to them or new ones too! (thaz what i do!) n e wayz just don't give them money, b/c they cud be using it fo other things like peepz said b4! one! keep on smiling

about the brothers leadin the sisters thing.. my nani ma got really upset that my cousin never had her brother/ brother cousins help her around... the giani ji said that people don't do this anymore in the gurudwara, i think its more traditional thing than anything, i think it shuold be up to the individual, but i think a long way back the sister usualyl needed support from the brother to do this.. (juz my hypothesis) and some people say to FORCE the sis to get married, i think its good support.. juz tellin em i wil be with u in ya marriage.. i don't think my nani ma was that happy that tradition was broken... i think somepeople are just a little overanylitcal, but i do see where they come from!!!

ssa! hey! i think n3o singh put up a GREAT post, its so true, there are not a lot of females recognised in sikhism, even tho it is considered an equal gender religion... i find its preached but not practiced... thankfully things have changed and many women are getting recognised and known, but its sad to think our past didn't highlight the many that probably were equally great role models for sikhs! keep on smiling people! :sikhigrin: (and i say again i think there needs to be a smily wid a chunni on! lol

I personally sometimes find it pretty interesting how many use it as a culture symbol than a religious one, espicially with the khanda these days. I am thinkin of getting a khanda necklace, a silver one, but i am really hesitant since i think it wud be awkward, its kind of like showing off, like a jewlry item. I have seen many people with gold necklaces with ek ohm kar and the gurus on em, and i wonder well is that ok to do? i am curious, but i want to hear other peoples ideas and thoughts on this.
