i just asked that question out of curiousity b/c i get asked sometimes really weird questions and they are often vert IGNORANT... so i was curious about my fellow sikh people if they have experianced it! i just want to ask something that PEOPLE don't usually ask... question about questions! b/c this really tells us as sikhs.. are we sending out a strong message... or are we still hidden? i dunno it may seem really funny but im just glad they ask questions about our faith....instead of not asking! one!

I was born and raised and still living in Canada! ( so my point of views may be biased but realise that i am also living and assosicating with many other Canadians of 'sikh'/'punjabi'/ 'brown' "culture" ) Now acting a certain way and speaking a certain way does not inhibit someone from following sikhi or trying to learn it... if i want to dress in baggy clothes and wear a plastic chain and walk with a limp that is not going to change who i am in the inside.. and acting a certain way is not "black"/ "brown"/ "white" those are stereotypes and im always sickened that many people associate the colour of skin by the one acts... these are stereotypes... when i see a black male i don't attomatically kick in saying he is from the lower social class of New york and talks "ghetto" i think hes a guy.. just like the next "Gurpreet" (or 'Joe') and i am also sickened by the word "white Washed"..... people need to get away from these stereotypes... and sad to say almost everyone makes a stereotype but assuming that all canadian youth acts or wants to act a certain way is disrespectful to me and my friends and other canadians... there may be wannabes and some others trying to act a certain way, but let them be what they want to try to be or prove to be... don't get hurt by it.. im sure they are sickened by how some people wear, talk, dance the way they do... like u do to them.. leave them alone and let them do what they want!!!!!!!!!! (i also hate civics...) but i will still drive one... and he/she may be a tupac wannabe but if she/he is true to sikhi...then im with them and i will back them up! i have to say I RESPECT all canadians and other people for being who they are and doing what they do.. because i rather have a diverse range of sikhs than a 'typical' sikh

first of all im goin to uni to study! no party lol after all i want to get into med school! secondly, CANADIAN universities are amazing.... why else u americans taking all the doctors and everyone (called brain drain in Canada) b/c u guys offer more money for us..and Canadian uni costs so much less then american uni.... anywayz EVERYONE whos in western.. there will be a new princess in the uni ! watch out!!!! and pm me if u are in western.. i need friends! lol

thats my prob with it!!! ill be like 6 hours away from home and ill miss MOMM AND DAD and familia! so sad! but i think i am goin to end up goin there... i did a lot of thinkin and i think western is goin to be it....

thanx everyone for the input and support... i know i applied to McMasters and they rejected me..i applied to one of the hardest programs.. health sciences and for them i guess a 90 sum average ain't good enough... well im not goin to mac if they don't want me! lol screwwwwww them! lol my choices are with u of o, u of t, western and maybe guelph (but most liekly not b/c its in the middle of no where) i rejected queens... lol k any info wud be good! ps. i heard YORK uni is a ghetto school! well it is in the place where at least 2-4 people get shot a week! lol i don't think its that great for science one!

k i know theres canada people on here.. so tell me what uni do u go to... ur experiance... why u think its the best!??!!! any advice on how lil princesses should choose a uni.... If u ask me, a girl, i like myself without the tattoos and many peircings... i don't need to have that to celebrate my feminine side or honour my ancestral 'goddess" and i don't consider myself shy on a regular basis. And i think im not "FRUMPY" i like me and maybe i don't clean or cook that often... but i do go to school study because i don't want to depend on my future husband on a good income, i want to make more money then him and afford my ownstuff... and yes call me selfish i think i can do other things than cook and clean all day... don't get me wrong i love my nani ma and dadi ma all ahead of me... they are the best and they make ends meet! but the worlds changed and so has its people... there are different needs and different world! RESPECT TO ALL THE GIRLS WHO DO STUFF INDEPENDTLY! one keep on smiling:)

hey! well a FUNNY crazy speech always win in my schoool.... it has to be interesting, informative and creative.. i remeber someone did a spoof off "im joe and im canadian commercial" they said "IM ____ and I WANT TO BE UR GRADE __ REP!" lol it was amazing! and sumone did this crazy thing about some insane story but it worked! lol its mainly popularity (sad to say as well) but if u have the heart and the courage many people see the leaders, and they will choose u!!! just go with passion and ull beat em all! go kuri! lol keep on smiling !

Time is considered a next dimension added to the third... there are 4 dimensions...(all together... im not sure if u are in tune with physics (science geek talking now... lol ) but yeah its simple and very interesting to learn!!! a simplified version is when u are on a jet plane with a clock... and on earth are set atomically the same, go around ur world couple times, then drop to see the time of the clock on earth then on the jet... and tell me what u seee! and for all u peepz who think that physics is crazy it can be explained in math as well im not sure of the math.. after all im just a high schoool student! lol if u ask me its probable to have time travel and there are studies being conducted now... liek that million dollar probe they sent out to test it out... i forget what its called! anywayz keep on smiling --one

do you guyz remember being forced to go to saturday school punjabi school??? didn't u refuse and cry not to go back in the day?!!! I KNOW i used to complain so much that i don't want to go!!!!!!!!! the aunties were so mean sometimes... well i kept it up until this year.. i stopped it because the teacher was BEYOND ANNOUYING and i could not cope with her! i know how to write, read punjabi, but the sad thing is i can't speak it that well! but i know enuff to get a long i think! my parents never spoke punjabi with me that much b/c they thought i wud not be good at english like they did! i wish they didn't do that! but i think i know a lot now b/c i wanted to learn! now if only they made punjabi school and the teachers so much better when i was a kid i wud be a master at it!! lol im just happy i don't have to go to that punjabi school teacher ever again! SHE WAS SO BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!! ok i might go back to punjabi school ....somewhere in the future just to learn more, but not with her! lol i did u guyz used to learn bhangra/ giddha in punjabi school too??! it was so annouying but when i look back it was kinda fun in a annouying way, i got to meet so many punjabi/sikh friends!!! i went to a mainly white school all my life and still am today! lol so its good to get to know peepz!! --k have fun learning punjabi!!! --one keep on smiling

this is a good topic of discussion!!! todays modern society outside of sikhi is against any hair at all... its like this huge massive hairless ape trying to tease us into conforming to wax, pluck, shave, zap the follicles of our naturalness (man that sounds so hippy) many of my non-sikhi friends find hair repulsive and gross... i mean they can't STAND guyz who have hairy legs... and im thinking what is up with these people... they find guyz that have a hormonal disfunction attractive?! i told them they were on some cheap masala..then relised its probably the 'black pepper corn' they were using.... the truth of the matter is if u want to be a hard'kaur' sikh one should accept the fact that there is hair... and yes people are goin to stare at u.. i mean depending on ur genes and background some youth tend to have hair when they are very little and realised around grade 7 and 8 that shorts were not a very sociable thing to wear anymore.... (if ur a girl of course) i think this is a personal issue and how strong ur heart is in sikhi and how strong u can take society..... --keep on smiling
