  1. hey!!! ssa! if i kill a fly, am i a bad person? If i kill an ant, am i a murderer? If i kill a dust mite, am i a killer? If i kill a bacteria, am i evil? These are all living things, just like animals, yet NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEM!!!! i mean we can make it our purpose to SAVE all the living things on earth, make sure everything is ok, so is eating meat then bad, its a living thing, just like those bacteria, ants, and DUST MITES, there are TINY bugs everywhere that we kill everyday, we call a plant a weed because we don't like where its growing, yet its still living and we KILL IT! so like it or not i am a killer, killer of living things, although i must admit walking with my head down low and trying not to step on a insect i get tired, and hold my head high to look at the sky, only to find that a lil birdy plopped its stuff in my lil eye!!! so if i kill a fly, am i a bad person??
  2. hey! ssa! i just thought i bring this VERY contreversial topic up (just beacuse im curious < that should be my quote..lol>) why are many sikhs and indians in gerneral homophobic?? I mean is it wrong culturally and/ or relgiously? Did our gurus say homosexuality is wrong? Or is it against sikhi? 10% of the population is homosexual, so i don't find it shocking when i find out someone is homoesexual! but im curious (like i said before) is it wrong ? what you guys feel about HOMOSEXUALS? i know this is a very tough topic to talk about, but i would like to know about how people feel. i have friends that i know (they are not indian, they are white) that are homosexuals. ok thanks for any input ps.... I AM NOT HOMOSEXUAL, IM HETERO! and why would it matter anyways?? pss.... if this topic gets teased, locked or whatever its all said and done, INDIAN PEOPLE ARE HOMOPHOBIC, and thats the core of it psss imagine telling your parents  lol anyways ONE LOVE
  3. hey! well everytime i go to the gurdawara it should be that GIRLs wear the typical punjabi suit, while the GUYS wear whatever they like! i mean whens the last time you saw a guy in a kurta pyjama?? I WANT TO SEE MORE GUYS IN KURTA PYJAMAS! i mean if i wear like "normal" clothes to gurdwara people stare at me and give evil looks as if i commited a horrible crime, but then im like whats the difference, why is there this BIG TABOO about not wearing a punjabi suit. i mean i love punjabi suits, but why must GIRLs do it. i mean i know i don't have to and everything, but i think guys gots it easy! what you think?
  4. well im glad that you ignored the IGNORANCE! and that you didn't cut your hair, good job!!! i think everyone learnt a lot about soceity and about sikhi after sept 11!
  5. once i was at this youth group meeting, i forget the topic now, but once this uncle said something and i thought it was HILARIOUS (i think it was because he was trying to use some sort of slang with his desifided accent) well i have a big laughing problem ( i am trying to control this problem ) and i started to laugh, well giggle, then since laughing is very contagious i started to make my cousin and friend laugh, then the whole little group started laughing and everyone was starring at us. MY cousin said we were not suppose to laugh at the gurdwara, is it true?? i mean isn't it good to laugh? well anyways im just curious( i say this a lot in this site lol <see there i go again with the loling>) well CAN WE LAUGH??
  6. well is it wrong to have a boyfriend or girlfriend?? what u think??
  7. well we wud never know wud we... if we were walking backwards, but we think its forwards, but really it could be just sideways..... what if we were all upside down, in space there is no reference point so whose sayin where we goin??
  8. what if we were all walking backwards and no one ever knew???
  9. i was in school when it happend, i never really knew what EXACTLY happend until i was home! but yeah itz scary esp. the AFTERMATH of it all. IT MAKES me sooooo mad how some people were ignorant and selfish thinking that if you wore a turban, or assosiated with anyone with a turban that you are a terrorist. itz really sad thatt over 2 thousand people died. RIP
  10. a cure to obesity is JUST TO SAY NOOOOOOO! i know its hard and if you have to run away do it! don't let those uncles and aunties pour food on ur plate when ur hand is on top beggin to stop, RUNNN!!! lol (u lose some calories as u run too, BONUS!)
  11. hey! SSA! i have a bigggg issue when people say that GOD is MALE, like he is everywhere, he is the supreme being, he, he, he, he, he ,he! OMG im going to go crazy! GOD is not a HE! or even a SHE! but still i know its maybe a short word but i mean it's only one more word, so just say GOD not he! WHenever someone refers god as "he" i always say SHE just to see their reaction, its funny somtimes! again im no feminist, im not preaching that women are better than men, im just saying its wrong to refer GOD as "he, him" ! and yes its wrong to refer god as "she" too!!! any comments?? have you people ever noticed this?!!
  12. thanxxxxx so much for everyones imput!!! i understand a bit better, but how do we know if this is all true?? i mean you never really knowwwwwwww!!! science is basically theory in a way.i dunno i think toooo much sometimes! don't get me wrong im like a MAJOR SCIENCE NERDD but im juz curious as i said before! and there are many questions that have no answers....
  13. well i think keeping ones hair is important, but if you keep your hair that doesn't make you all of a sudden religious, i know people who keep their hair and still drink like there is no tommorow, do drugs, do "bad" things. And i have seen people more religious then some people with hair. I personally kept my hair and i never cut it! I think i wud cry if i did anything to it, i had it forever!!!!! BUt i think the point that someone posted before was right, girls always do "waxing" and stuff like that, i guess its peer pressure and media! REcently some people i met through punjabi school told me that they CUT their hair, i was shocked and kinda mad at them. They said they "couldn't handle it" and that "they look better like this" I haven't seen them yet, i don't really want to!! But i was shocked. BUt again cutting ones hair is up to the individual, and im no preacher, and i know people who cut their hair who know a lot more sikhi than i do, but sometimes i wonder if they are so into it, why not KEEP THE HAIR!?? and about the point about the jobs thing, thats ILLEGAL if someone doesn't hire you due to your appearance, i say SUE THEM!! one love!
  14. i agree its all business and stuff, its just how society is and how we grew up to be! Maybe if ya waz a girl it wud hit ya a lot harder! or maybe im juz overreacting! but im happy i live in CANADA, where girlz actually can play in high level athletics! i mean whens the last time you heard of a girls indian soccer team? i haven't !!!
  15. I am a bit curious about how our religion says humans came to be... Do we beleive in evolution? Do we support science? Is there a story like the aborigionals in North america about the turtle or the adam and eve story in sikhi? I am just curious! THanks a bunch! ! ssa
  16. i agree that WTSN had not a lot of viewers, i watched it once in a while, but the main reason that it didn't succeed was because there wasn't enough businesses willing to advertise there, therefore no money from ads and stuff! and this is beacuse of not a lot of viewers, and plus WHY does a station have to say WOMEN TELEVISION SPORTS NETWORK?? why can't women be seen playing sports on TELEVSION SPORTS NETWORK? are women too bad to be seen on these stations? Its sad!!!!
  17. SSA! Hello! I just thought i make a post about WOMEN in sports. When is the last time you watched women sports?? Media and society seems to support men through sport activities. If you just flip to TSN all you see is men playing football, soccer, tennis, hockey, basketball, golf... I think the only thing that women are watched for in sports is iether golf or tennis and sometimes basketball. I don't know it seems unfair to me. I think society should support women in sports. Men get more paid then women too. I am no feminist but i do think that next time you watch your sports on tv you think about whos playing, men. Have you ever seen women play hockey, football?? I know a lot of girls who are better in sports then their male peers! Anyways i just thought i will voice my opinion? What do you peepz think? Is it soceity or media to blame??
  18. hey! Well even thought sikhism has promoted equality for women through many years it hasn't been practiced, im my opinion. I feel that women are just as equal as men, and now and days women are treated equally. THere is always this occasional uncle or so who just drives you up the wall about how girls can't do stuff. This reminds me of the time when i was at sikh youth camp when i was 13. I wanted to play soccer, because I LOVE SOCCER, and this uncle who was organising it didn't let me play because i was a girl. HE didn't let my friends or other girls play as well. He thought that the boys had more skills and more of a sporty spirit. IT makes me mad when people make those assumptions. I was very upset, and especially in a sikh camp this kind of thing happend. Later on my older cousin told him off, and girls could start to play with the boys, and it was fun. But i think mostly women are treated equally. And we are given a chance to do everything. And yes in my opinion women are good at their traditional roles but also other roles too. And in gurdwara i think more men should be helping with making langar and more women doing organized sports and helping in the hall! Peace, Love and lots of happiness.... ssa!
