  3. Also, if someone could provide dates for sagraands for the new year. (agaiin, as shindasingh requested non-'nanakshahi' please)
  4. Neo Jee I'll try my best to post a Hukamnama at least weekly, if not daily. Challenge_everything "The deeper arth of this line is that those who are humble are pooran or complete. They are heavier spiritually than those who are full of ahankar who have been described in part of Gurbani as spiritually 'empty'. Those nimarata wale Gursikh pyare like Akaali Baba Deep Singh Ji Nihang, or Bhai Kanhaiya Ji or Bhai Adhan Shaah Ji, were fulfilled inside and so they were complete. But hankari moorakhs like Aurangzeb, Jahangir and Mir Manuu who were full of hankar, were spiritually empty." Thats EXCELLENT and wat i was looking for e.g. i dint understand the weighing bit but ive heard ppl say the 'nivea sey goraa hoey' and dint know wat they meant!! ------ As for todays hukamnama beautiful as usual e.g, Sant rasan voota, aap toota, har rashe saey matheyaa. "You dwell on the tongues of the Saints, by Your own pleasure; they are intoxicated with Your sublime essence, O Lord"
  5. VjkK VjkF Please could we discuss the meanings of today's hukamnama from Sachkand Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. SHALOK, FIRST MEHL: The simmal tree is straight as an arrow; it is very tall, and very thick. But those birds which visit it hopefully, depart disappointed. Its fruits are tasteless, its flowers are nauseating, and its leaves are useless. Sweetness and humility, O Nanak, are the essence of virtue and goodness. Everyone bows down to himself; no one bows down to another. When something is placed on the balancing scale and weighed, the side which descends is heavier. The sinner, like the deer hunter, bows down twice as much. But what can be achieved by bowing the head, when the heart is impure? || 1 || FIRST MEHL: You read your books and say your prayers, and then engage in debate; you worship stones and sit like a stork, pretending to be in Samaadhi. With your mouth you utter falsehood, and you adorn yourself with precious decorations; you recite the three lines of the Gayatri three times a day. Around your neck is a rosary, and on your forehead is a sacred mark; upon your head is a turban, and you wear two loin cloths. If you knew the nature of God, you would know that all of these beliefs and rituals are in vain. Says Nanak, meditate with deep faith; without the True Guru, no one finds the Way. || 2 || PAUREE: Abandoning the world of beauty, and beautiful clothes, one must depart. He obtains the rewards of his good and bad deeds. He may issue whatever commands he wishes, but he shall have to take to the narrow path hereafter. He goes to hell naked, and he looks hideous then. He regrets the sins he committed. || 14 || Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaaj Ang 470 If you see this thread today, (6th December) you can go to the normal Sikhnet hukamnama page to view in Gurmukhi and view the panjabi transalation of the shabad- http://www.sikhnet.com/hukam If not, then consult the sikhitothemax website- http://www.sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp?Sour...&PageNo=470 The main part I would everyone to focus on is the starting salok about the "simmal tree". Having listened to a number of kathavachaks a long time ago I scarcely remember them refering to this shabad when talking about humility (nimartaa). Specifically, I would like to know the meaning of "nivey sey goaraa hoey". Also, please note these stanzas form a part of the Sri Asa Dee Vaar. Ill post more questions about this shabad later, I can t rmember what other things I wanted to ask.
  6. VjkKVjkF http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2312 Sikhitothemax is excellent for finding shabads in Sri Aad GGS Jee. For example the shabad your refering to can easily be found by using the 'first letters from start' criteria, so all u put in the search box is 'kaka, baba, kaka, Thatha, sasa'- the first LETTER of each word in the line of the shabad your looking for. Hopefully you understand my poor attempt at explaining!!! VjkKVjkF
  7. VJKKVJKF If u dont want the form to do anything for the moment then just make the action attribute blank: <FORM ACTION="" METHOD="POST"> This way the page will just refresh without any data passed on to the php script. Please also note that get rid of target="_blank" since it will just bring up a new window with the same form in it whenever u click on submit. finally im assuming u know that the script uve given isnt a php script but rather just the input form which means that my7Results.php file will probaly be the php script which processes the forms information Hope that helps VJKKVJKF
  8. Narsingha jee please can also give more details on which Nirmalay say this while we wait for jtSingh.
  9. Thanks jtSingh for clearing that up. It makes sense since we can see MANY deras which originate from famous Mahapurkh such as Sant Karam Singh Hoti Mardan wale, whose present day mahapursh are Sant Baba Roshan Singh jee as well as Sant Ishar Singh jee who incadently are a part of the same tree. I know that this mite be touching a senstive topic which has been disscussed in other threads, but could this be the same sort of thing in the Damdami Taksal where there is the present Jathedar Sant Baba Thakur singh as well as Sant Mohan singh jee at Bindra kala who both could be carrying on from Sant Gurbachan Singh??
  10. This maybe: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/horizdropdowns/ ?
  11. EXCELLENT POST Karmjeet jee The thing is, its so hard to have/ be nirlepta coz theres so much media that is aimed at inflaming lust within us. But then thats the marag of sikhi KMinAhu iqKI vwlhu inkI eyqu mwrig jwxw ] kha(n)niahu thikhee vaalahu nikee eaeth maarag jaanaa || The path they take is sharper than a two-edged sword, and finer than a hair.
  12. I think Guru Raam Daas jee uttered this shabad wen His son Prithi Chand started to argue with him, cant rememeber for wat reason tho. (Prithi Chand was the brother of Guru Arjan Dev jee and wanted the Gurgadhi from his farther but was unsuccessful) http://allaboutsikhs.com/gurus/gururamdas.htm#SELECTION http://allaboutsikhs.com/gurus/guruarjun2.htm
  13. Ive just sent an email asking for the material they used to describe the shaheedee of Baba Deep Singh I will post back when i get a reply. Sorry for the delay in replying to you.
  14. isnt it so that Baba Deep Singh Ji's sees was completely severed and not "almost". I think its an attempt to make it look more "realstic"; abit like the argument that Guru Gobind Singh Ji didnt cut any of the Panj pyares heads. although both these events could be discussed in different threads
  15. From the above article on the SGPC website: :x
  16. Could this be it?? http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=5575
  17. Both Mata Jeeto jee and Mata Gujaree both left their bodies on their own accord. According to a tape that I heard number of years ago, Mata Jeeto jee saw the future e.g. the besiegement of Sri Anandpur Sahib, leaving the kila etc and the shaheedia of the char sahibjadey. After seeing this in a dream she asked Guru Gobind Singh jee whether this was true, Guru Sahib confirmed this. Mata jee then told guru jee that she could not see all this pain happen and would rather die/ leave for Sachkand and asked permission to leave her body. Guru Sahib jee granted her permission and subsequently she did ishnaan, a Sukhmani Sahib da Paath and left her body. Im assuming that Mata Gujaree jee left her body in the same sort of way. Ive also heard that during operation bluestar a Singh was shot in the HEAD However he sat down, did a Sukhmani Sahib da Paath and left his body >>>chardikalaa or wat!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. kenyankalasingha jee, ive been using the hub for quite a while and ive never really found many different videos and pics of sant jee that arent already on the mentioned websites. Obviously i could be wrong but i doubt!! However there is ALOT of OTHER Sikhi related media on the hub that isnt available from websites. See the link below, its a faq for DC++ and has some links for Macs: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/dc#2
  19. www.saintsoldiers.net- media section has a number of videos which include sant jee as well bits of media coverage of the dark events in the '80s. As for pics try the Damdami Taksal websites- can't remember all of the urls off the top of my head but the two main ones are www.gurusikhijeevan.com and www.gurmatveechar.com. You ll find links to the others from there
  20. 'fateh jee A great way to do santhia is to follow the current sehj paath by AMRIT BANI RADIO. Theyve started a sehj paath for the 400th Aniversary of GGS pehla Parkash, where Giani Swaran Singh reads a line and then the sangat reads same line again. Its done at a slow pace so u can follow quite easily The paath is repeated three times daily at (8-9am or 9-10am NOT SURE!!!), 4-5pm and 9-10pm- thats British time. (would be grateful if some1 can confirm that) For all non UK ppl u can go to their website @ www.amritbani.com and listen live and use sikhitothemax or sikhnet to follow the Gurbani. Sorry if some1 has already posted about this.
  21. My nick is <~#§#~/>, im normally on the kirtan hub all day ive had problems of late coz wen trying to PM(or even thru the main window) in DC++ i get disconnected dont know y :? n e way c u on there 'fateh jee
  22. oops sorry -changed (ill put a new one later!!)
  23. 'Fateh jee Just added a folder of ebooks, mostly in pdf format, of different programming languages etc to my share on the hub. Got quite abit more on CD please tell us if u need more i COULD have on CD.
  24. 'fateh jee Sorry if i caused any inconvenience My handle is actually <~#§#~/> not the one i said above Anyway ive uploaded the Biography of Sant jee - which is taken from the book STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE onto the server in the folder: users/ssinghuk so u dont have to rely on me being online. I think (read it a couple of years ago) this is only a small part of the book since most of the book bhas translations of Sant Jees Speeches Also I was told to upload some Sant Anoop Singh Kirtan but ive only done abit of that.
  25. 'fateh ji wen listening to Sant Hardev singh lulo wale katha on Asa di Vaar he said that the total number of shabads/stanzas comes to 108: 60 saloks By Guru Nanak Dev Ji including some by Guru Angad Dev ji 24 pauries By Guru Nanak Dev Ji 24 shants by Guru Ramdas Ji dont know if that means n e thing tho, long time since i listened to and ive lost the tape as well
