Brothers In Humanity

A great lecture is going on, on the Ahlulbayt channel.

The speaker, using the Koran, speaks of 3 levels of brotherhood - blood brothers, Brothers in Humanity and Brothers in Islam.

He has used many examples showing that those of other faiths who practice truth are more loved by Allah than Muslims who lack the same good characters...

He talks about universal principles (Islamic Principles i.e. compassion, charity, truth etc) and that those who practice them, even though they are not Muslim, are true brothers of true Muslims..

He mentions stories of just non Muslim Kings being greater than tyrannical Muslim Kings...

Great stuff, he talks of a tradition of calling all non-muslims to the masjid in ramadan, because during this period, the teachings are based on universal principles rather than specific Islamic sharia, hence everyone can benefit.

He says that Muslims have a duty to treat Godly non-muslims with the same respect as their own kin i.e. help them in everyway possible.

All backed up with Koranic evidence. Very different to the fanatical Saudi propoganda.

Good luck to these guys for propogating such a good interpretation of Islam.

He basically denounces Muslim kinship on the basis of ritual (sharia etc) - he is placing more importance on truthful living (internal character).

Sounds like he has been reading up on what Guru Sahib considers to be a True Muslim:

Panj nivājā vakẖaṯ panj panjā panje nā▫o.

Pahilā sacẖ halāl ḏu▫e ṯījā kẖair kẖuḏā▫e. Cẖa▫uthī nī▫aṯ rās man panjvī sifaṯ sanā▫e.

Karṇī kalmā ākẖ kai ṯā musalmāṇ saḏā▫e. Nānak jeṯe kūṛi▫ār kūrhai kūṛī pā▫e. (3)

There are five prayers and five times of day for prayer; the five have five names.

Let the first be truthfulness, the second honest living, and the third charity in the Name of God.

Let the fourth be good will to all, and the fifth the praise of the Lord.

Repeat the prayer of good deeds, and then, you may call yourself a Muslim.

O Nanak, the false obtain falsehood, and only falsehood. (3)
