Welcome to the forum.

Vidya simply means knowledge - stemming from the sanskrit Ved. In Sikh circles, the term is used for example to talk about the knowledge of war (weapons) and Religion (Texts) Shastar and Shaastar Vidya.

Traditional Indian medicine is termed Ayurved - (Ved-Vidya). Knowldge of Raags is termed Raag Vidya.

The terms is usually used in the context or classical Indian Arts and Sciences (and Philosophies).

To learn or gain vidya, one simply studies the subject in which he wishes to gain vidya.

Hope this helps.

There are numerous pothis on www.gursevak.com. That is vidya right there.

Katha on www.gurmatveechar.com, that is vidya.

vidya is useful knowledge learned to such a degree that it flows like water.

useful knowledge is that knowledge which can be put to practical use or can round out our knowledge of those important subjects which affect our lives.
