It is not prohibited , however it is believed that renouncing does not lead to Brahmgyaan. THe Bani of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Sri  Dasam Granth Sahib has verses which indicate that many have taken sanyas and renouncedthe world however have not been able to realize Parmatma.

Bro, many of our famous saints, like Baba Nand Singh jee, Baba Attar Singh jee, Baba Mahaharnam Singh jee, etc, were renunciates and achieved the highest level of Brahamgyan.

Those verses, which you are talking about, are referring to impostors/incompetent/Niguray (Guru-less) people.

that is why i said it is not prohibited ..but there are so many of these sanyasis who do renounce and are lost in the ego that they are now great yogis ..the verses indicate that Parmatma cannot be realized and Brahmgyaan cannot be achieved just by renunciation.
