Peshi leads to Disaster

The following is a very sad true story. A Gurmukh (who does seva in Panj Pyaray) narrated it to me.

There was a married Singh, who committed adultery. He went for a Peshi to receive repentance. He admitted to his sin in front of Panj Pyaray and was given Amrit again. One of the guys in the Panj pyaray turned out to be a Kurehatiya. According to Sikh laws, Panj Pyaray are sworn to secrecy and cannot divulge any information regarding any person's sins to anyone else. This Kurehatiya leaked out the information, which spread, eventually reaching the wife/family of that Singh.  

His life became so miserable that the Singh actually committed suicide.

Daas would request people to be very careful when going for a Peshi. Make sure you do some research, before choosing the Panj Pyaray. Panj Pyaray must be of very high spiritual levels and strictly adhere to Sikh codes of conduct.

Agreed on finding the right Panj Pyaras however, that secret should NEVER have been kept from his wife. She had every right to know if her husband was a cheater. If he had came clean to her himself maybe things would have been much better, but hiding the deed from her, was wrong on so many levels. Obviously he was affected mentally by his misdeed, and the results of it. But the choice to take his life was his alone and had nothing to do with his wife or family. He rightly should have come clean himself and dealt with the aftershock. Just by admitting his wrongs to his wife, she would feel much more like he was able to be trusted again in future.  So while I agree the Panj Pyaras should not divulge information, I think it was HUGELY wrong to keep the cheating a secret from his wife. It was HIS duty to tell his wife he screwed up. You keep wanting to drag women name through the mud and use dasam granth as support, but then stories like this you make it sound like keeping the secret from his wife was the right thing to do. Remember it was not her who was cheating, it was him. And to follow what dasam granth says - that being men should keep secrets from women - only leads to disaster. Let's not put blame on the wrong person here. Keeping secrets is wrong, and cheating is wrong. Unfortunately this Singh learned the hard way and could not deal with the consequences of his actions.

I think there is the Guilt. Reasons why he did not tell his wife. Put your shoes both in his shoes and then put your shoes in his wife's shoes. Then you will know what it feels like. We say these people did this bad but when it happens in our house only then we realize what it means to be in very tight situations. We are not perfect.

He only had guilt once it was made known by leaked info. Obviously he didn't feel real guilt for hurting his wife. He was feeling embarrassed for vein caught only.
