It's an interesting film (we watched it for research reasons).

You get a slight insight into how the destruction of Bharat Sangeet (devotional) takes form from the Mughal period onwards.

You get a small taste of Sufi tradition, which is cool, particularly understanding the root of the innocent love for Heer.

I think there is a mention/praise of this love by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in their Vaaran also.

But as always, Bollywood's attempt at history fails.... Waaris Ji decides to use a Vaaja to sing his convincing devotional song to win over the district Mughal law enforcer.

The vaaja of course being introduced by the fanatic Christian missionaries over 120 years later.

Lastly, it would have been wise if they had decided to give the actor playing Makhdoom Ji some "devotional" dancing lessons!!

Yeah I know that was odd! But I liked the songs in this film not to mention the film.
