Sheel Manjari was surprised by looking at her own husband, as she thought, he was a different man. Her eyes opened up wide in astonishment. The husband thought that she freaked out by looking at him (believing in his mind that he had caught her cheating with someone) and that's why her eyes opened up. Sheel Manjri has been duped to believe that the person in front of her (her husband) is someone else. In the base tale, Chitar Singh has married Chitar Mati, just because of the fact that she looked like his ex-wife. The similarity with the original tale can be seen as King Chitar Singh is trying to give his filial and righteous son a death penalty for his vile wife. The "Tale of Sheel Manjari" illustrated that women can do anything to get what they want, in this case the man the woman desired. In this way the smart minister gets Raja Chitar Singh to think from a different perspective, i.e. that Chitar Mati may indeed be fooling him and that Hanuwant Singh is not guilty. Even though, Sheel Manjari was very faithful to him, just for one gaze the Shah left her. He did not bother to think that his wife was faithful. In the original tale, Chitar Singh did not care about the righteous nature of his son and was ready to think that he was guilty. This applies to real-life in a sense, if someone is good at something or is a good person in general one slip can cost their whole reputation and people will only remember the mistake.
