  1. "Its all about technique. If you use the right technique you can get the treasure of naam." Once Baba Harnam Singh Jee (Rampur Khera) was walking through the village and came across a farm worker who had recently taken Amrit. Baba jee asked how much Bani he recited. The singh replied that he was uneducated and unable to read so he did 11 malas of mool mantar daily. Baba jee enquired further and said “but out of the 11 malas that you do how many mool mantars do you actually listen too?” the singh replied that he did not understand so baba jee asked him to sit with him while he explained. They said that until you have heard the Bani with your ears you will not achieve much. suniyee saat santokh gyaan. Baba jee said that he continues to recite mool mantar as he has been – without listening to it or contemplating on it then you could continue for 100 years and nothing will come out of it. Now instead, listening with your ears and make sure your mann has heard. Recite slowly and check that you have heard and understood each syllable." ----> https://kathanotes.wordpress.com/2013/07/03/sukhmani-sahib-part-22/ Wondering what jug or how you are japing? Are you concentrating fully on the jaap. Are you contemplating each syllable as you jaap through it or do you repeat at super fast speed? I feel if I have to do as per Baba Harnam Singh Ji's instruction, 6 malas would take me forever as I would just remain stuck over Ek-Ongkaar for many seconds. Here is Sant Ishar Singh ji Rara Sahib wale doing jaap : Note the speed.
  2. I also shy away from posting, bcoz if u share ur experience you loose that kamai. It could be my braham.

  4. Not a fan of air fresheners, they contain lots of nasty chemicals. I open the window and the air here is itself naturally fresh and pleasant !
  5. Can you provide an audio version of this, so that I can download and listen to it in my free time? Best,
  6. I have also heard about 2.5 hours karza. However, does 2.5 hours count towards 1 sehaj path as u pointed above?
  7. Can u elaborate on hygiene?
  8. Isn't Gurbani, Gurmantar, Mool Mantar all the same? Thanks for the reply. I will definitely look into this.
  9. I dont have much experience to share, but was listening to Bhai Vir Singh ji's tape in which he said japan should be done through out day and sometimes same jaap can get boring, can make a sikh egoistic, can create monotonous boredom. In this case he advised to do altering jaaps of gurbani tuks to keep the mind engaged and keep the bhav going. Best of Luck
  10. 1) Correct about the Maryada of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. I don't know what you mean by "dera", however I would trust the words of a pooran brahmgyani over the words of some scholar who studied history books and decided that "this" is the maryada of Guru Gobind Singh ji. You should be careful when you say "dera". 2) Sikhs in Armies over the world during special operation do wear helmets, for example you can see several pics of Harjit Sajjan who is the defence minister of Canada and you can see pictures of UK soldiers too wearing helmets. 3) Agreed with you on the income of tobacco and alcohol - I am not involved in this at all, but it was a question as some sikhs do here -- they are owners of motels, convience stores that sell these products a lot. Best of Luck !
  11. Thank You RagMala Guest, Excellent post. 1) You said 1 sheaf path in the form of MoolMantra (6 malas daily) or Waheguru (80 malas) or 2.5 hours minimum (from where did you find the 2.5 hours one, bcoz I cannot find any literature that supports it. 2) I am guilty of doing my Nitnem banis fast, if I do it slow and with prem, its going to be a miss for sure. But other banis are done to the best of prem I possibly can. 3) Dont care about cinemas, songs, dramas ----- Its all Jhooth ! man-made non-sense. 4) I have to start seva, once this COVID-19 is mess. I wish to do jhoothay pander and jorra sewa at Gurdwaras.

  16. Not specifically but it is overall good for the health. Start with cold showers -cold showers lower heart beat and relaxes the body. Most people take a cold bath and assume it is cold, but the water is not sufficiently cold for the benefits. The water temperature should be at least at 11 degree C or below, preferably single digit C. Dont do this at the first day. Gradually work your way towards it. Suddenly going into extreme cold water can cause cardiac arrest or other problems. You must also do the deep breathings empty stomachs. For insomnia try the honey remedy I mentioned above and also get a full blood test, bcoz usually insomnia is a symptom of something that is not working properly in the body.
