  4. These are the quotes from a book and from Yogi Harbhajan Singh. " "Naad means harmony, a process of harmony through which the "Aad", the Infinity, can be experienced. Naad is the basic sound for all languages through all times. This sounds comes from one common source called the sound current. It is the universal code behind language and therefore behind human communication. "The science of Naad works between the movement of the tongue in the mouth, through language, and chemicals in the brain. The is no nerve connecting system from one section of the brain to another. There is no wiring, instead there is a solution, neuro-transmission fluid. Different chemical liquids are secreted from all different parts of teh brain. Messages are transmitted very fast from wach part of the brain through the fluids which are called "Naad Namodan Rasaa". Naad means communication, namodam means addressing and rasaa means juice". In addition to the vibrations set in motion, something else happens when you chant. This is really important. There are 84 meridian points, or pressure points in the roof of the mouth. One can feel that upper palate with the tongue and experience its different surfaces. There are two rows of meridian points on the upper palate and on the gum behind the upper teeth. The tongue stimulates those meridian points, and they in turn stimulate the hypothalamus which makes the pineal gland radiate. When the pineal gland radiates, it creates an impulsation in the pituitary gland. When the pituitary gland gives impulsation, the entire glandular system secretes and a human being obtains bliss. This is the science. Every time you speak you stimulate them with tongue. By stimulating there pressure points on the upper palare in a particular sequence, using the right access code, you increase the secretion of the hypothalamus gland and actually bring about a chance in the permutation and combination of your brain cells. When we chant, we are also using prana, the life force of the universe (atomic energy) to create asound current. Naad means "the essence of all sounds". All languages contain sounds which relate to one or more of the five elements of air, fire, water, earth or ether. Gurbani is a perfect combination and permutation of sounds relating to all the five elements in complete balance. When Guru Arjun Dev, the fifth Guru Nanak, compiled the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, in 1604, he put in only those Banis which were in Naad. These compositions are called Gurbani. Gurbani is the combination of the tongue with the meridian points. When you read and recite Gurbani, it stimulates your hypothalamus. It is totally different than any scriptures because Gurbani is made in a scientific way. There are two banis: "kachee bani" is that which does not fit on the Naad. It is not a balanced sound current. "Pakee bani" is that which fits on the Naad and is balanced. One who knows the Naad knows the Aad, the Primal Creativity. One who knows the Aad is Parmayshwaar, the Supreme God. The whole language of Gurbani has the power to make a person divine, just in its recitation, if done correctly. One need not be concerned with the meaning for a change in consciousness. Bani has to be understood by the heart, not by the head. There is no power in the head, it is in the heart. The head is for God and the heart is for you. That is why Guru Gobind Singh asked for the head, and not for the heart. Whosoever lives with the head to God and heart for self, that prayer is complete.
  5. It is understandable that Sri Guru Granth Sahib has more than 20 sounds.......here Naad is the universal sound for all the languages.....e.g in english there are only some characters, but with the combination of characters number of words can be formed.....same way Sri Guru Granth Sahib has number of sounds, but the base sound are limited......I'll post some details about Naad in a while
  6. My understanding is that Gurbani is also a form of Naam Simran..............I heard interesting thing in Yogi Harbhajan Singh's lecture.........he says that "Nad" sound has the capacity to take us to the WAHEGURU. Any word which has "Nad" sound can take us to HIM........Waheguru, Satnaam have Nad sound.....as per his lecture, Gurus include ONLY the Bani which has Nad sound to it....so, basically whole Guru Granth Sahib has Nad shabads/words with Nad sound. So, basically receiting Gurbani is also important. He further explained that there are total of only 20 sounds in this world........interesting thing is that in Bhagat Kabir's Granth, it is also mentioned that GOD/WAHEGURU created 20 sons with 20 shabads/sounds.
  7. I heard some lectures in english as well as punjabi from Yogi Harbhajan Singh and his way of doing Katha is powerful. I just listened to 3rd......it's really moving.....try to listen this one (3rd) http://www.mrsikhnet.com/index.php/audio-video-archive/ - Audio -> Educational -> Siri Singh Sahib -> Punjabi Katha -> 3 there are total of around 25 lectures in punjabi.
  8. Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ke Fateh, Does anyone have the access to photocopy or pdf file for the handwritten diary of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji? I know that I can download a typed copy from http://www.ik13.com/IAL.pdf but I am after the photocopy of the original handwritten copy.

  10. Bija Singh Ji I don't have the scholarly knowledge as you have. I think that Neo's posting already answered your all questions. But let us discuss this. "Waheguru" shabad is the ultimate mantar which WILL help us to reach GOD. "Waheguru Naam Jahaj Hai, Chare so utre par". Whosoever jaap Waheguru will be saved from this sansar samundar. e.g If we want to reach a house at another end of the ocean, then a big mighty boat can help us to cross the ocean. But after reaching the house, there is NO need for the boat to enter the house, in fact it is NOT created to be in house. Same way, "Waheguru" shabad is here to help us to cross this world ocean and drop us in the house of Waheguru/God/Allah/any other name. The way you're understanging "Waheguru", aren't you just limiting GOD to a shabad "Waheguru"?? I think you took the words in wrong sense. I never said that concentrating on some image (idol) is must. Let me explain in detail. But before that I would like to request you one thing that "Please do NOT write/think this way: I don't agree with the Mahpursh here". I'm saying this NOT to prove that my Mahapurash is the best. But I am requesting this for your and mine betterment by NOT indulging in the against things for Mahapurashs. Mahapurashs are Mahapurash, they are NOT mine or yours.....They are Waheguru's treasure. Anyways, in order to reach Waheguru, we need to have 3 things: Simran, Gyan, Dhayan. Dhayan/Concentration is must in order to attain something. But the question is whose Dhayan/Concentration is allowed in Sikhism. In Sikhism, Dhayan should be of the Guru (Guru Granth Sahib Ji). It is never said the dhayan on idol is must. If you concentrate on Gurmantar, then you agree that Dhayan on something is must otherwise we cannot aim on nothing. When we concentrate on Gurmantar (or any shabad in Guru Granth Sahib Ji), we are NOT concentrating on Nirgun. We're still concentrating on Sargun. It is because Gurmantar was given to us in the form of word and is also written. There are various techniques to concentrate: e.g the technique that you wrote (concentration on Gurmantar); another technique to concentrate on Mool-mantar etc.; another technique to concentrate on Waheguru mantar etc. etc. But if some person in another religion is concentrating on some think having more physical aspect to it (thinking that it is concentrating on Nirgun and NOT limiting GOD to that particular object), then it is NOT wrong. e.g Bhagat Namdev Ji had the vision of Raab 72 in Sakar Roop. Once a Sadhu said to Bhagat Namdev that you are Kacha. Then Bhagat Namdev felt bad and thought why he is kacha even though he had the darshan of Raab so many times. Then Bhagat Namdev remembered GOD and HE appeared before him and told him to go to another saint to sort out his question. When Bhagat Namdev went to see that saint, he saw that the saint was standing on Salgram (Vishu's worshipping stone). Bhagat Namdev thought that how could he answer my question, he himself is doing very wrong as he is standing on GOD. Then the saint stopped him by saying that God has sent you here, so ask me. Then Bhagat Namdev first asked that you are standing on GOD (Salgram). At this the saint told Bhagat Namdev to place his feet somewhere where there is NO GOD. Then that saint told him that this is the reason that another Sadhu called you Kacha because you are limiting GOD to one particular object. At this point, Bhagat Namdev understood everything and attained the full Gyan (Brahmgyan) and he then uttered the shabad: "Ram bole Ram bole Ram bolda, sabna gata de wich Ram bolda". The meaning of the above mentioned sakhi is that even tough Bhagat Namdev worshipped Salgram (something in maya), but in order to attain the Paka/Pure status he had to understand the full meaning and it is the Salgram (Vishnu) who directed him to a source that explained him that GOD NOT only resides in Salgram. He is sarab-vapak.
  11. I might be wrong, but this is my understanding: If we argue that Nirgun ONLY resides in ITS Word, and we have the GOD and there is NO need to do Naam/Dan/Isnan as ordered in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, then it is the same as normal morte puja. As per Mahapurash's words: Even shabad cannot reach WAHEGURU Nirankar. WAHEGURU shabad canNOT reach Nirankar. "Waheguru" Naam is helping us to reach Nirankar.
  12. Great post Neo bhaji......explains in very good wording for all those who equates idol worship (limiting GOD to that stone) with sargon puja. Thanks for such a gr8 post. To add something from Mahapurash bachans: "Who always argue over "bout parsti or bout puja"; they just argue; everyone can argue but the problem is how to control your Mann and concentrate; no one can concentrate on Nirgun directly e.g can one concentrate on sky?? Anything which has any shape is called bout......those who argue over bout, do NOT they love their homes, money, property, wife, children, father, mother, and other worldly creation object; and if the answer is yes, then this is also bout parasti......and secondly, this type of bout parasti (loving family etc.) takes the man to many different 84 lakh joonis as per Gurbani.........but the bout of Waheguru takes us to the Nirgun Brahm." If we think that Nirgun Brahm ONLY resides in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, then we are wrong too, in this case aren't we just doing murti puja that all our Gurus condemned??
  13. This might have you: It is taken from: http://www.sikhawareness.com//index.php?sh...mp;hl=free+will Do we really have a "Free Will" or Kriyamana/Udham Karma? There are three basic positions we can adopt on the question of "Free Will": • Either we have absolute free will, or • We have no free will at all, or • We have a certain measure of free will. Our "Free Will" is like the very limited freedom of a dog on a leash/chain. In other words, there is "Free Will", although its range is somewhat dictated by the past. It is because the environments around us, the relatives around us, and the situation in which we are at the moment are controlled by our past karmas. GOD created such atmosphere (based upon our karmas) and then gave us the choice: sometimes easy enough to decide and sometimes hard to decide. Our whole thinking process, habits etc. are made up from the subconscious mind and which in turns is based upon the impressions from the past karmas. In other words, the choices and decisions we make are greatly influenced by the habitual patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior arising from our past. Actually "Free Will" is a delusion as long as one is a slave to the ego's fears and desires. As long as individuality/ego lasts there is "Free Will". "Free Will" can be exercised only when one is aware and unattached to desires, and the dualities of life, and has no ego. By cultivating vairagya (detachment) one sees beyond liking and disliking, success and failure, loss and gain, pleasure and pain, to the Truth of things. Abiding in the awareness of the Truth, one can act "freely," no longer a slave to fear or desire. Otherwise, "Free Will" is a delusion, merely a servant of egoistic desires and preferences. If karmas ("Free Will") are done without the ego, then this "Free Will" is actually the GOD's will and therefore we do NOT have to bear the results of that “Free Will”. Any change in karma will have an influence on the ego, since what the ego can or cannot do has changed. Any change in the ego will thereby influence karma, since how such limitations are handled has changed; this effect emphasizes the idea of free will. The existence of "Free Will" is only in relationship with ego. The more egotistic a person, the more he asserts the existence of "Free Will". At the other extreme, God realized persons are the ones who have totally surrendered their ego to God and they assert there is nothing like "Free Will" and whatever exists is God's will. God reciprocates with everyone according to their desires (good or bad) and allows them to fulfill desires generated by "Free Will". Lord uses His illusory kinetic energy called Maya to engage the living entities in good and bad acts according to their desires and their previously accumulated good and bad Karma. For example: The following example raises the question of “Free Will” Gerard Croiset was a remarkable Dutch psychic. He repeated an experiment for 25 years with known as "chair test," in which he describes in advance the person who would sit in a randomly chosen chair. In one experiment he said that the person who would sit in the chair selected would be a man 5’9’’ tall, who brushed his black hair straight back, had a gold tooth in his lower jaw, etc. etc. Two weeks later the meeting took place, and the person who sat down in the chair concerned was a man who fitted his description.

  15. Don't rehat break when one does break the promise of regular Nitnem of at-least 2.5 hours? Don't rehat break when one does sees another women with bad thoughts? Don't our rehat break when we don't remember Waheguru with Saas Gras? Don't take me wrong I believe that one has to follow rehat, but being so buried in rehat that while changing kachera they put a new kachera in one leg and only then take out the wet one off.....we often forget that rehat (code of conduct) is NOT the destination, it is merely a code of conduct that needs to be followed WHILE moving towards the ultimate goal. Moreover, I wonder why kachera should never be away from the body?
  16. I might be wrong, but I am always wondering why would doing something against the "thought to be traditional" means to take Amrit again?? - Is Amrit so weak that anyone can cancel it and needs to take it again?? - How could this type of Amrit take people out of Sansar Sagar if it (Amrit) cannot maintain itself?? Please don't trap Amrit in a limited way........What is Sanskar Amrit?.......Where we initiate into Khalsa BY HAVING A GURU as Guru Granth Sahib Ji. e.g 40 Mukte wrote to Guru Ji that they are NOT their Sikhs, and YOU are not our GURU.........basically reversed the Sanskar Amrit.....but when they reprented, GuruJi did NOT ask them to take Sanskar Amrit again or do they?? My thinking is that: If one take Sanskar Amrit is one human birth, then he do NOT have to take it in every human birth. But yes, we don't know if we took it in previous birth or not. So, kindly treat Amrit as something which does have the capacity to take us to the next level. Bul chuk de maffi
  17. From what I understood is the following; - When we are meditate on Naam, actually we're meditating on form and NOT formless. The puja of formeless could ONLY be done by a person who had attained Brahmgyan. How could we meditate on formless if we are NOT able to understand the formless, saying formless is NOT understanding. In the Brahmgyan stage, the eye to see and understand the Nirgun/formless is opened. Till then we are meditating on form. Nirgun de puja/worship should be done with 3 flowers: Saam (Ikagarta/Concentration), Sam (Samgristi), Bodh (Tat Gyan). And we normal people do NOT have all the 3 flowers that are required to do the meditation of formless. When we meditate on Naam and put our dhayan/concentration on anything: Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Gurbani, Vikhaya, Our Guru (for religions other than Sikhism), Brahmgyani.....we are meditating on form and this is what we should do.........anything that has shape is called form. The rule is: Do the puja of form to reach the formless. i.e Meditate on Naam and concentrate on your Guru (Guru Granth Sahib Ji) to reach the formless.
  18. I'll be thankful if anybody from the sangat could send me the following: - Any scripture in any digital format (PDF, Word etc.) - Any idea how to get/purchase Gurbani database. I'm NOT interested in getting or purchasing software, but I am after the database e.g the database that SikhiToTheMax is using. Thanks!
  19. I remember sometime back on this forum, we were discussing regarding letting/helping someone die because he/she is in coma for many many years.......and along that line. The following article answers this question very well spiritually.......have a read and let your thoughts be posted in this thread: http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org...ence/euthanasia
  20. In this kalyug, our values and determination to help someone is diminshing at a rapid pace. We even don't care if our own children are suffering because we don't want to bear pain for our children. We always put ourselves first sometimes intentionally or sometimes un-intentionally. Sometimes, we are neither aware of what we are doing nor are willing to hear the facts (against our own understanding). We always think that we are educated. These days, my sisters are not willing to bear the pain during her child's birth. I'm not against the pain-killers to reduce pain, but I am against the pain-killers in certain circumstances (in normal births) where the pain-killers are effecting the new borns. Here in western world, doctors always ask do you want to take epidurals during your child's birth? And unfortunately the answer comes in positive. The doctors say that there are NO serious side-effects on either the mother or new born. But this is NOT full truth. Let's try to understand: - The child in worm is connected to the mother with a cord. This cord is used to feed the child in worm. - The Epidural causes the mother to loose control over the lower body WHILE the child is still in the worm. - Is it possible that the strong epidural which causes an adult to loose control over her body will not effect the child which is still connected to mother's body through a cord in worm?? Think about it. - All doctors agree that whatever mother takes does effect the child in worm, but still some doctors fail to agree that epidural will effect child in the worm. Some of the facts are as follows: - Hydrochloride is used in Epidural. - Side-Effects on child: Weak Immune system which normally leads to eczema, asthma, low hearing and viewing power, and other infections at early age, and in very rare cases skin cancer, and various other problems like: Lot of heat is generated in the child's body. - The first recorded use of an epidural was in 1885, when New York neurologist J. Leonard Corning injected cocaine into the back of a patient suffering from "spinal weakness and seminal incontinence."1 More than a century later, epidurals have become the most popular method of analgesia, or pain relief, in US birth rooms. - A common intervention, epidurals are given to reduce pain during birth. But at what cost?? I have attached 3 articles from British Medical Formulary and other Doctors who have defined the problems of epidurals and also the side effects of hydrochloride drug which is one of drug used during epidural. So, kindly read them fully and decide yourself and help spreading the word. GeneralInformation.pdf HiddenRisksOfEpidurals.pdf NegativeEffectsOfHydrochlorideDrugs_BritishMedicalformulary.pdf
  21. Let me add one more thing to this topic before someone starts the debate that this is Hindu stuff and is anti-Sikhi: As per Guru Granth Sahib Ji: "Sarab Rog Ka Aukhad Nam" Always the source of any cure is GOD Himself, but it is done through the powers/techniques (mudra, asans, chi-energy etc.) of GOD by the GOD Himself. And it is NOT necessary to learn these techniques in order to get cured because GOD automatically execute these things internally Himself (without letting us know) OR He will let us know some techniques/medicines by "someone" which could be useful for us. Now, here believing that "someone" is dependent on the patient/person himself. Actually, this is NOT patient/person's fault, only one can believe whom HE/GOD wants. GOD has laid down some principles which HE also follows even thought HE can do anything. e.g In order to bring new child in this world we have to follow some steps (be it medical clone or normal child) and it takes a pre-determined time, but at the same time it is the blessing of GOD Himself and HE also has the capability to give us a child without following any rule, but HE always wants everyone to follow the rules laid down by Him. Thanks
  22. Mudras actually DOES work if you do it properly and for the specified time. In my family, we've tried it and it works wonders. - "Mrit Sanjivini Mudra" is really a miracle for heart patients. One of my family member is using it for the last many years it was recomended by a yoga instructor. If heart beat is irregular, fast, uneasy then give it a try; it will work instantly. - You might have seen many photographs of yesteryears Bhagats and/or Puran Sants with "Gyan Mudra". Give it a try to Gyan Mudra with Padamasan or normal cross-legged sitting position (make sure that your spin, neck, and head should be 90% angle), you will feel that concentration is marvelous after some time along with other benefits. It is NOT a myth. Let's try to understand some points: - When GOD created His creation, HE also created everything to sustain and maintain it. - Ayurveda was created by GOD Himself in order to help our physical body in case of some problem. - Mudra and Asans were created to maintain the physical and spiritual aspect of ourselves. e.g. If we have a electric circuit in our house, then definately there are some points using which we can regulate the flow of electricity, automatically correct the broken circuit etc.... but the condition is that you should be aware of it. - GOD created Chakras in our body in order to help us spiritually. Otherwise, Chakras has NO purpose in our body. Chakras are just like a kelle (a small nail where we hang our clothes in villages), it helps us to rest our concentration in our to progress. Some people who knows and believes in it takes advantage of this place; while others use it automatically becuase it is natural. GOD has given us all the knowledge of ayurveda, mudras, yoga asans, chakras, and many other techniques during our birth, but when we start progressing in this world our mind becomes impure and we forget this knowledge and then that knowledge takes the back seat. New born children till they start recognizing people or some luckly till later in the age knows how to rectify their problems because their mind was pure at that time. e.g - Have you seen your child may be 3 months old to do some kind of funny stuff with his/her fingers and hands? Many times they will do thumb up and then all finger close and open. They do it in a very funny way and we thought that the child is playing. Actually, they were balancing the 5 elements where each finger needs to touch the base of thumb, but because of their incapability of do it with each finger, they will do it with all fingers. - My child had severe skin problems and NO medicine worked. Then one day we noticed that she was placing her thumb under the little finger and she does it oftenly. Specially, if she takes less drinking water she will do it more. At first I thought that she is just playing.....but later when I was searching for mudra, I found that by placing the little finger under thumb one can increase the water element in the body. Try it yourself, don't take water for long and try this mudra or Pran Mudra......you'll feel that these mudras will remove your water thrist. It really works!! Our problems in the body is due to: Vata, Pita, Kalpa and it could be rectified with mudras and in extreme problems with ayurveda. But today we have a problem that we won't be able to find a ACTUAL ayurveda spiritual doctor. There are many and many claims to be 100 year old links.....but still as we have impure mind, we cannot derive or understand the granths and/or physical body by reading them. I would rather say that we have alomst lost the understanding of ayurveda from a common mind.....ONLY the persons who are spiritually alleviated, can depart the knowledge. e.g you might have seen some spiritually alleviated person having NO knowledge of ayurveda and/or other technologies but recommending you some very fine techniques from ayurveda......think about it, where the knowledge comes from? It is already in the mind like the GOD. Where the GOD is, HIS powers are also present. e.g some time back someone due to the influence of bad forces (ghosts) consume the full bottle of poison ( used to kill rats), but survived after 10 minutes......how?? because one spirituall asks to give the person curd mixed with banana, and after consuming this.....vomit comes and all the poison came out of body. So, when we grow spiritually, we will learn all these forgotten stuff. I personally would like to do the following (even though I never started): - Gyan Mudra for whenever you do Naam Simran. - Pran and Kike Mudra regularly.
