How Do We Go About Starting Jhatka In The Uk

actually I dont. I just dont automatically assume that veggie Sikhs are anything bad just cos they CHOOSE not to eat meat. -

How Do We Go About Starting Jhatka In The Uk
chatanga1 replied to chatanga1's topic in General Discussion
Rubbish! I was kesadhari for 17 years before I took amrit, and i would never hesitate to ask any shop/butchers if their meat was halal. On some occasions, it was, and i said thank you and left the premises. Dont jump to conclusions about meat-eaters. That is a very common trait of veggie warriors, to think that just cos we dont beleive in Gurmat as a vaishnav panth, that we must be totally devoid of compassion or even worse morals. Dont make that mistake ever again DSG. -

ok, that makes it cleare where your thinking comes from. I dont believe that at all, and that is kinda what the rss types beleive as well. Why did Guru's give new places of worship ? why HariMandir Sahib, why not just go and renew the truh at Hardwar and get all the Sikhs to do their matha there? -
How Do We Go About Starting Jhatka In The Uk
chatanga1 replied to chatanga1's topic in General Discussion
absolutely. the reason i started this topic, was not to debate the stupid argument over whether a sikh can/cant eat meat, but to see if a workable solution to the problem of "Halal only" was possible. Are Sikhs capable of having Jhatka meat introduced in the UK? that is the q? -

i think most would think that you have to be vegetarian, but as Akal Takht maryada says otherwise, i dont think they would have aleg to stand on. But even if they accepted Akal Takht maryada, it wouldnt mean they would eat it. My dad accepts Akal Takht maryada on meat, and he hasnt eaten any for 25 years. However I would think that more people would accept this, if they had open mind on the subject. -

actually amardeep, doesnt additional salt increase risk of heart failure? if we all beans and rice with a nice dose of salt, in the west, especially UK, think of the burden on the NHS. -

this is one thing that i was thinkning about. Now the way the Nihangs do it, first they wash the goat, then do chandi di war, and then the chatka. Firstly, does only 1 Chandi di war paath have to be done for all the animals every day? also isnt it better if its actually a Singh doing the chatka, gutting and preparation? then, if it was to be done on large scale, obviously it would cause problems in getting Singhs to do the chatka, although creating employment as well. now what parts of the goat are actually eaten? -
Dalits Fined For Daring To Drink Water From Tap
chatanga1 replied to kdsingh80's topic in General Discussion
vijaydeep singh, any books youcan recommend for further reading of the so-called low castes concerning sikhs? -
in the same way that halal has now become easily available with the muslims havinbg their own abbatoirs and being allowed to kill animals without stunning them, so what would be the first step to take for Jhatka to be given the same status as halal? which govt body would we need to go to first?

the answer to your 1st question is YES! In my gurdwara there was talk of making a non-jatt a stage secretary, and the jatts went ape-shit over it, one even saying you have bought in a bhatra to sit on our heads. Even the women who make langar threatened to walk out if he was given a place in the committee. Nope, we are still right. Jatts consider themselves as the best and truest sikhs. -
bit of a cheap shot isnt it ishragi?

The Jhatka Conference In 1937
chatanga1 replied to chatanga1's topic in Inspirational Stories | Sakhia
Absolutely true, Mithar Ji. Don't you think that we should remember Jhabbars jeevan the same way that we remember other great Sikhs from recent and long ago times? I have never in 7 years, at Wednesfield Gurdwara ever heard his name mentioned from the stage. People like Jhabbar certainly inspire others to commit to Panthic work. -
Mithar writes : "It simply means that Sant Jee is saying that a lot of people do showmanship but not everyone will actually fight like soormas in an actual battle..." this is the gist that i got from reading it. Basically that (like me) there are a lot of flash gits around, but when it comes to actually being in a confrontation, they run. Im not sure Sant Ji is actually talking about gatka here.

The Jhatka Conference In 1937
chatanga1 replied to chatanga1's topic in Inspirational Stories | Sakhia
yeah bro, but just as one does not attain to saintly in a few days of naam simran, one does not attain to warrior status after a few days of meat-eating. Sipahi mentality should be promoted definitely. -
The Jhatka Conference In 1937
chatanga1 replied to chatanga1's topic in Inspirational Stories | Sakhia
it's very interesting you say that Tony, as the Shiromani Akali Dal grew from the nucleus "Akali Jatha Sauda Khara Bar" of which Jhabbar was the head. and i posted this topic on sikhsangat. they removed it the next day. -
I have a book called the Life of Kartar Singh Jhabbar. This guy is like a personal hero of mine, a very lion-like character, who never feared the enemy for the glory of the Panth. A kind of pre-partition Sant Jarnail Singh. What is quite surprising is that very few people know of him. This may be to do with the fact that he operated in Western Panjab mainly. However this topic is just to relate a few facts, arising from the recent discussion on meat/veg issue. This is it in brief: In 1937, a Sikh, bagh singh tenant of Ghulam Hussain, in Jandiala Sher Khan in Sheikhupura, did jhatka, and for this he was insulted and turned out of his land by muslims of the village. This news was dispatched to Jhabbar, who organised a 2 day Jhatka Conference and requested that 50 goats be presented at the conference, for 25 goats each day was to be jhatka'ed. The muslims of the village and local area, brought in more muslims with the intent to attack the Sikhs to prevent jhatka, but there was over 2000 Sikhs armed and waiting for them. In the fight 1 Sikh was shot, and 6 Muslims were killed. The local MLA Abdul Ghazanfar claimed the Sikhs had attacked innocent muslims, and the case went right to the Panjab Govt. Sikander Hyat Khan requested an interview with Jhabbar, and Khan was visibly annoyed when he heard of the jhatka having taken place. He asked Jhabbar " what if we decided to kill 50 cows there?" Jhabbar said " then we would kill 50 pigs there." Khan asked why, and Jhabbar replied" the issue is not over the killing of cows or pigs, but that if muslims have the freedom to perform halal as per their religion, then why dont the SIkhs have this freedom to the same. At the point Khan had nothing to say, and the case against Jhabbar was dropped. Here is a little info on Jhabbar, i really recommend that you buy the bok next time you go india. Amazing guy. http://bhaikartarsinghjhabbar.org/eng_boch1_15.html
