  1. Singh47 does have a point. Meat isnt killed in the way it should be for a gursikh. Instead the animal is tortured and put through fear the electric shocks. Not to mention the hard life it has being put into a confined space. This isnt jhatka. Also, my friend use to own a butchers shop..halaal or not..95% of meat shops will buy meat from the same place, from the same supplier, killed in the same way (above) and stick a label on it..and a sticker on the shop window..and sadly, people beleive it!
  2. Beast that was quality lol. sorry i have to say that was a good point.
  3. Ok this is part two..weve discussed the issue with sardars being clowns a reacurring problem in bollywood films. But MUCH more severe is the CLEAR disrespect our own boys have toward sikhi!! How many videos have i seen (countless) where the sikh nishan sahib..the khanda..the symbol of miri piri is degraded to the point of no return..where in one hand the guy has a bottle of sharaab and females (whom he has no respect for) fiddle with his chest (or lack of) and dance seductively like snakes whilst he screams jibberish and makes poses one can only desribe as gay/wannabe gangster (u know, when they point at the screen and pout their mouth forward and look sideways.) So what do we do brothers and sisters?? Why dont we sort out this internal problem before we challenge bollywood!
  4. (and i wasnt being rude before i get told off! i was just being witty veera, before u take the last comment the wrong way!)
  5. Gurfateh sadh sangat ji. Please dont make assumptions about me/my mentality because of the obvious question im going to ask u (because there is a taboo attached to this topic.) But whats ur personal, and views in the context of sikhi (i guess) of earrings?? Because aside from there being NO bani (however many times people may try and change the bani of guru nanak dev ji to say otherwise) there is only historical evidence i.e paintings and descriptions of old school singhs. And in all of these men use to wear them. And please dont say theyre for women, because some women wear turbans..and then some men were bana (which some people could say is like a skirt.) Thanking u in advance! P.S im not a rudeboy or "lafanga", im jst a guy on a spiritual persuit who happens to find earrings attractive..plus my ancestors wore them..which is kinda neat..not to forgetting the fact that i can swap with mum.
  6. I agree but then disagree..i mean prior to the compilation of the guru granth, our gurus themselves i.e bhai lehna (later guru angad dev ji) was a disciple of guru nanak dev ji maharaj. He was given the jot later in life yes, but he still needed guru nanak dev ji for that initial step. Alot of us need this teaching from sants/sangat,etc too. Also u say we shouldnt listen/dwell about sants too much..agreed..but then the same granth ur telling us to seek refuge in, is the same granth which contains the praises of god, from saints. In essence, we are turning to saints..arent we??
  7. That was a nice post rupz! Kinda the same thing happnd to me too!
  8. And thanx to all the others who contributed to this thread! (cheers lalleshvari!)
  9. Ur making alot of good points, but as mentioned veera, i dnt entirely agree with the concept of listening to ur parents about everything. Although guru ji took the slaps with humilty, he did indeed go against his parents wishes of giving money to the poor. Of course we shouldnt disrespect our parents or anything, but we shouldnt have their word as the be all, end all. With this mentality of hukkam, we might as well not have brains, and let people make decisions about everything for us, after all god is everwhere!!
  10. Cheers as kang..singh a song for me please
  11. yeah im curious about this too..i wanna know if im gonna have to deal with man dem with pitch forks
  12. not sure..but someone sent it to me
  13. I agree with beast from what ive seen, i dont beleive for one second our parents should be put first before anything. Our sikhi is the most important thing, and sometimes our sikhi can help lift our parents too, in regards to spiritual life. I know many singhs who have bad upbringings and through their love of sikhi, they have managed to help teach their parents a thing or too. Had they put their parents first, they would never have had the chance to do so, because they woulda been forced down the pub!!
  14. Ive decided im definitely going to take amrit this year (if im still alive!) However i wish to take it from the buddha dal..i dnt want any arguments, PLEASE, i just need to know when they administer amrit in india, under the buddha dal, and at which gurudwara. Thank u!! Waheguru ki fateh
  15. Ingredients of a Sikh One part saint, one part soldier, One part that's always learning As one grows older. One part service, one part sword, One part that's ever-evolving On life's drawing-board. One part spiritual, one part political, One part that aims to expose All that's hypocritical. One part fearless, one part unthreatening, One part that continues to hear When the din is deafening. One part meditative, one part martial, One part that's eyes remain open Yet is completely impartial. One part kettle, one part kirpan, One part that keeps collecting knowledge As the clock ticks on. One part kirtan, one part prayer, One part that sheds light on it all So the whole sangat can share. One part devotion, one part action, One part that speaks the truth Regardless of sanction. One part candle, one part flame, One part literal translation Of our famed "Sikh" name. One part Nanak, nine parts thereafter, Blessed by Guru Granth Sahib, Our eternal chapter. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  16. It is 'wrong' to go out with ur head uncovered, our tenth master has told us this. The only time ur hair should be uncovered is when uve had a bath..and then u should leave it uncovered so as to let it dry naturally. Make sure u comb ur hair twice daily! Waheguru ki fateh
