  1. "NewAgeSikh" Just to point out, the keeping of hair was stated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, our 10th Guru, what he has said is just as important as what is said by our 11th Guru: Guru Granth Sahib. Also about the kirpan, nowadays it is very small and blunt, and not typically used as a weapon. But Sikhs still wear them because of what it means: it symbolizes the Sikh value of defending oneself and the weak. It is about defending the helpless: note the use of the word kirpan and not tulwar. I get the sense that you are just attacking the identity of Sikhs: the five k's. The thing is I can't figure out why you are doing this. You say everyone else is blind, but you are the one calling your self sikh while questioning those that created Sikhism. You know more that the Guru's did? Also try and keep this civil, and don't resort to petty personal attacks.
  2. very true karmjeet. Just a superstition; sometimes I can't understand why people let things like this influence their decision...just doesn't seem logical. So I say just buy a house you like, forget this stuff.
  3. This is a really sad story and really gets to me. The guy is a very upstanding sik; pointing out wrongdoings at the gurudwara's he stayed at and yet people treat him like this. Hearing about what he is going through just makes me feel horrible. How can someone do that to their own father?
  4. As bad as this is, cannibalism was far worse in the past. I don't really think the world is going down some crazy cannibalistic path. But it still sucks to hear about things like this.
  5. it's just infatuation, you can't love someone without knowing them.
  6. It might just slip out one day, but I try and control myself cause most people don't say it to be assholes (even though it bothers me).
  7. haha...yeah I get that brother thing too man. I work with one of my freinds and we don't look anything alike, but people are always asking if we are brothers. Sometimes I just feel like asking if they are related to all the white people in the store?
  8. Nice, we all know Stalin was the craziest..
  9. hehe...the "sweet" lil angel wants to fight dragon? Well, I say bring it. 8)
  10. Thanks, I've always wanted to be part of a club.. ...oh, and the dark side isn't so bad.
  11. If the person doesn't give you a straight answer then, just block that address. They are obviously fooling around if that's how they reply, I say forget it. Just my two cents.
  12. This monk is a bit more complex...
  13. I had to post this: George W. Bush "Wait, I'm not a dictator!" you cry! Well lets look at the check list: Unelected? Check! Use wars and xenophobia to boost popularity? Check! Total control of the media so they never say a bad word against you? Check! Kill scores of innocent people to get what you want? Check! Do anything to get your hands on oil? Check! Inhumane treatment of prisoners? Check! Face it, you're a dictator, and no amount of gloss will hide that fact… or the fact you're a borderline retard who looks like a monkey!
  14. Joseph Stalin Well done comrade! You're one of the big boys! When you're not holding speeches about how everyone is equal in the communist society, you're busy living the high-life while millions starve, freeze or get worked to death! You zany person you! http://www.poisonedminds.com/tests/dic/ My friend sent me this and I decided to post it...pretty cool
  15. You're like a dragon. Dragons where the terrible creatures that lived in large caves and often swooped down out of the sky and stole sheep, cows, and even people from the countryside to eat. They were gigantic with spikes along the back and tail. Some had wings, legs, and the ability to breathe fire. Even in the Bible, the Levithian resembled something like a dragon so they may have actually existed. Dragons were loyal protectors that were more powerful that any other animal that ever lived. Some where peaceful and others just wanted to destroy. The pest control for dragons were Knights who were appointed the task of killing a dragon. Some stories tell us that eating the dragon heart let you claim victory in any battle or eating the tongue would allow you to win any debate. (please rate)
  16. Mr. Singh, if you look back at the post then you will see that the topic was not changed until Neo's post, after which he locked it. So I don't understand how your above post is relevant.
  17. Thank you all for your responses. Also to clarify what my post said, I meant that the Gurus had been enlightened, that they had known truth (that they, as you put it, had merged with the ocean). But what I was saying is that we are not to regard them as god, isn't that what they themselves said? I still don't understand how they are not human? They have been spritiually enlightened, but they were still human right? Thanks for repyling to these questions too.
  18. I'm very sorry if I have offended you in anyway, although I do not see how. All that I said in my post was that the Guru's were not god (i.e. we do not worship the guru). I do not understand how you consider that heresy. All I believe in is the one god, and that is it. I highly respect the Gurus as enlightened individuals; ones that as in the link you provided had known truth. That to me does not make them god. Also I believe it is you who is jumping to conclusions and not I. The Gurus were human, Sikhism is a practical religion, they were though as mentioned earlier enlightened. I do not understand when you say they were not human. What were they then? A different species? A divine being? Also I never once insinuated that I could ever judge the Guru's spirituality much less yours, but apparently you have taken it upon your self to judge mine. I will however say that I do not dogmatically adhere to beliefs if a person can calmly explain to me the errors/flaws in my views. I also admit that I do not know as much about Sikhism as most of the people on this forum, but that was exactly my reason for joining this site (and I consider myself to be a good Sikh). Yet you seem to just judge people and lock threads when they go against what you believe. Honestly it is quite disappointing to see how hypocritical and judgmental you can be when your goal is to spread awareness of Sikhism. P.S. the point of a forum is to discuss issues to gain a higher understanding of topics. From my single statement that the gurus were not god, you simply lock the topic. This is not meant to be a personal attack on you, nor is this meant to judge you; merely to state that I do not understand on what grounds your objection is based.
  19. pardon any errors in the above post..feeling kind of tierd, but had to post my opinion.
  20. I don't believe the Gurus were god, and a lot of other sikhs do not either. You are missing the point, it is disrespectful to portray the guru's in a movie to have someone pretend to be them (not because they were gods, but because we highly respect them, there's a difference). Also it is the guruship that is important, this is why there was only one guru at a time, the guruship would be passed down. Right now it is the Guru Granth Shahib. So why would you wanna make a movie about the guruship when it is present in the SGGS....doesn't make much sense to me.
  21. Yeah, Jamuka is right. I have always understood the Sikh point to be that we are all created by God. However, Christians believe god to be in the form of a human, thus he has a son called Jesus, that is also a God (thereby differentiating him from humanity). I hope that was clear enough.
