  1. This is for all those "Singh" out there who refuse and even mock Shastra Puja: "As(i), Kirpan, Khando Kharag, Tupak, Tabar ar(u) Tir. Saif, Sarohi, Saihati - yahai hamarai Pir!!" (Shastra Naam Mala, Guru Gobind Singh) Guru Gobind Singh himself worshipped Shastar.
  2. If you consider yourself a Singh then it is mandatory for you to do Shastra Puja. Understand when I say that you have to do Shastra Puja if you are a Singh. Are you a Singh? Don't answer me.Answer to yourself.
  3. I understand what you say.I was using my own understanding of Shakti in my explaination, which was quite silly in hindsight. But I have affection for these kinds of imagery for the Divine. And does not Shakti come form Shiv? Kaali Mata...
  4. This is typical of the Vedik literature. The last sentence talks about knowing and not knowing. That only the Ishvar knows, or perhaps he does not know  . That last bit is a knowing wink made by the Veda. You'll find a lot of these winks in such great literature. It talks of knowing and not knowing. What is it to know? What is it to not know?Damn, I could go deeper, but just prefer to say  Naam.
  5. I've got W.H.McLeod's "The B40 Janam-Sakhi".It's an interesting read. But beware; McLeod is a known biased Christian misssionary. It has some black-white pictures in it.One of them shows Satguru Nanak and Bhai Mardana in "the Land of the Pathans".Curiously, it depicts Satguru as a child-like figure, with a seli topi and locks of hair streaming from his temples.
  6. No.I had made up my mind before the Iraq syapa, that he was a liar. He's a confidence trickster. After all, he is a lawyer. And everybody knows lawyer's go to hell. And I'm not joking. And no, I never voted for his party.
  7. I'm afraid it may take another 2-3 generations before mindsets of Panjabi's change for the better. :x
  8. Well,I'm not qualified to answer your questions. But maybe it's about experiencing the outer sign within you, and the inner sign on the outside.Sort of like a continous loop of outer actions and inner reflection? They say there is a luminosity to be experienced within you and another to be experienced around you.And that it is good to experience this - it is the initial stage. To experience both luminosity within and outside at same time is nice too. Maybe there is no inner and outer. What do I know?
  9. You know there is a Hari-mandir very near you.Closer than the heart beating in your chest. And there are pilgramages to be experienced within you. Brings shivers up and down my spine, or should I say my Chakra...
  10. Dharam (righteous duty) is the child of Daya (compassion). "Dhaul Dharam Daya ka poot. Santokh thaap rakhia jin soot." - Jap Ji Sahib English translation: "The (mythical) Bull of Dharam, the son of Daya; Patiently holds the earth in position." This means that it is Dharam which holds things together on this earth.Which is pretty much obvious, otherwise we would have complete hell all over this Mother Earth. And righteous duty is born of compassion.
  11. Turbans wouldn't be banned in UK either. The UK has too much of a long lasting relationship with Sikh for centuries. We even have a law that allows Sikh to wear turbans on motor bikes. Unless ofcourse UK has the great misfortune of electing a lefty socialist government...
  12. You realise that by saying this you are doing complete and utter beizzati of Satguru. You know what happens to people who do beizzati of Satguru? In the end they say "Pata nahi kee paap keete!!" - when they suffer. Take note.
  13. Doesn't this belong in Islam section?
  14. Polygamy maybe practised in an area where there is low male population.Or because a man may want more than one wife to have many children. It may well be a cultural tradition for a particular culture. Leela."Khel khel, akhel kelan, ant ko phir ek" - Jaap Sahib One who is free from the hooks of Maya, can play in Maya how ever they (Vahiguru) wishes. Why do people want to not believe in historical facts about the Satguru?? Whats up with you people? You are like those God-damned "Christians" and "Muslims," wanting to ignore things which may seem out of the ordinary in this modern day.
  15. Nobody here is denying any man of there love and yearning.Unless your mashooq's (lover's) parents post on this forum, saying words to the effect of denying your love. You seem to me to be taking out your frustrations on people who have got nothing to do with your frustrations. Follow your heart, but don't neglect your head (Buddhi).
  16. It's no big deal that 6th and 10th Kings had 3 wives.I don't know why others see it as being a big deal.
  17. I'm reading a book called The Kabbalah Unveiled Translated by S.L MacGregor. It's makes for very heavy reading.I think I will have to re-read it twice or maybe thrice.Maybe make a Trinity of readings... The Kabbalah or Qabbalah is a very fascinating subject that has captured my attention at the moment.I am new to it, so please forgive anything silly or untrue I may post about it. http://www.kabbalah.com/k/index.php/p=about/whatiskabb And: http://www.kabbalah.com/k/index.php/p=meditation/morning Check out: http://www.kabbalah.com/k/index.php/
  18. Found this English translation of p.123 of Gyan Ratnavali by Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh at http://www.sikhs.org/guru1.htm Can someone please post this section about Satguru Nanak eating deer meat in Gurmukhi from the Gyan Ratnavali, as I do not have access to Gyan Ratnavali. It would be most appreciated.Thank you.
  19. Found this website: http://www.geocities.com/advaitavedant/index.htm It has many Indian scriptures in English translation.Enjoy.
  20. So it was shardai.I thought as much.Probably the sugar rush got to your head Neo.
  21. This is about transliteration and not wether Omkar means the same as Oankar. They are both different transliterations of the same Divine Name. The word Omkar/Oankar existed well befroe Satguru Nanak Nirankar manifested on this plane. In Devnagari script (used for Hindi and Sanskrit) you have a nasal sound called anusvara or chandrabindu which is transliterated as "m".This is what appears at the end of Om ---> A-U-M.When you couple Om with kaar, you pronounce the "m" as a nasal "n".Hence you get Oankar. Omkar is not pronounced "Omkar" but Oankar. Om appears in Gurbani as ura-aira-tippee, also the Akshar Onam which appears in Dakhni Oankar is supposed to be synonymous with Om/Oan. Om is known as Mool Mantra, as is Ek Oankar. Hari Om Shanti Shanti Shanti...
  22. As far as I know Shaheedi Deg is made with recitation of 5 Bani. Remember the Shaheed Singh whenever you drink the Shaheedi Deg.You are honouring the memory of Shaheed Singh every time you drink Deg. Don't make a habit of it though.

    Stigmata

Padre Pio has stigmata on his palms. The thing is that the nails would not have been hammered through Jesus's palms, but his wrists. The body of any crucified person would not have stayed up if nailed through the palms of the hands. The weight of the body would've made the hands come off the cross. They nailed through the wrists, behind the meta-carpals (I think). This way the body stayed on the cross and didn't fall off. So it looks like that Padre Pio suffered from a psychosomatic phenomenon.Otherwise he would've had stigmata on his wrists, not palms of hands.
