  2. yeaa its a sweeet song!!!!!!! i loveeee the accent! british accents are the bestttttttt!!! lol one!
  3. have u peepz noticed that females tend to sit on the left, while males on the right when comming into the gurdwara?? ?? But if the guru granth sahib was in the middle, there is not real left or real right.....!!! I think it would be cool to have a circular gurdwara, maybe i should build one! Everything would be circular, there are no corners, just unity, balance and no ends.... one
  4. hello! SSA! my cha cha recently was talking to my parents, and i overheard their conversation. What he said was that the Harminder sahib/ golden temple get thousands if not millions of dollars a day! Which makes a lot of sense! But there is no real accountant or like money tablulation going on. All this money is some how dissappearing. Who is taking count for all this money?? I know money shouldn't be an issue, but once thousands of dollars gets missing, wouldn't you worry where its going? I think maybe the gurdwara should start adopting the casino way of counting money, with metal counting system, and computers counting the money! lol this may sound stupid, but it might somehow make sense, i am unclear on this topic, so if anyone has any facts related to this topic please inlighten me! we should adopt a good method of keeping track of where and who is counting all this money! well tell me if this is true or not... i never actually realized this was happening until my cha cha told me from a recent trip from india! one love
  5. omg i totally agree about the superstition thing, my nani ma is superstitious and its kinda funny, my mom kind of well tries to inforce some of her superstition on me, even tho she knows it's not true, funny eh? she also says no hair showers on tues and thursday, lol so just to tick her off i wash my hair on tues and thursday!! and other days... lol she knows i don't care, but she said that superstition was from mothers/ fathers living in india with a water shortage, or it costs too much, since they had lots of children and that equals a lot of baths, and since hair baths take a lot of water, they had strict rules, like only wash ur hair on certain days or else u will have an UGLY husband! lol it sounds stupid, but its i guess understandable. And another supersitition was once i was making salad and while making it i popped a cucumber in my mouth, my mom saw this and she said i should eat while making something, it will rain on my wedding. lol everything has to do with marriage! i know why we are not suppose to eat while making food, but that superstition was funny, so i was like LET IT RAIN, maybe it would be a tues so i can have shower on my wedding day too! --ONE
  6. yeah it might not look "right" but thats how someone dresses, and we can't judge someone by how they dress, but thats the reason why must ONE use that stereotypical comment to label someone??? this one guy in my school hes white, bald and wears FUBU all the time, you would think he would like rap and talk "ghetto" but he doesn't hes very good at debates and loves heavy metal... now if people stopped putting people in boxes and judging them and USING stereotypical comments maybe they can see the real person, instead of seeing thats just wrong....
  7. heyyyyyy! ssa! i know this isn't anything new but we need to think of new and innovative ways to STIMULATE sikh youth, thats me and you! Some of our fellow peers are lost and confused, not because of ignorance (well maybe few) but because they don't understand or they are juz HIDING! we need to start brainstorming how we can capture teens and children of sikh faith besides just reliance on family. Altho that does do a big part! I mean there are camps, which i find the best thing to do to make the youth interested in sikhi, but is there anything else that can reach out to them? I mean its a very big topic, and many associations have tried everything, do you have any ideas on stimulation and captivation to try to get some sikh youth involved???? one
  8. hey!! ssa! i jus thought i say a lot of peepz now and days are being very pessimistic! and its driving me crazy! Someone told me that there was no point in trying to stand up for equality, "bang" that hit me. Yes maybe they are right that equality will never exist, and that life might not be the best. But for right now at this moment and the future people can make a difference, even if no one wants to follow... I have to hate against anyone. I may dislike someone, but i don't hate them because of what they are. People need to understand that if you try ur best to make everyone happy (even tho this may seem hard) and even try your best to make those stereotypes and rude comments, life does become easier, and you do feel successful. I think people these days are abusing the power to say what they want, you need to think of how they grew up and how they didn't. Be it if they are gay, black or a "fob" one shouldn't start using language to inferiorate this person. For example: "that is so GAY" how is that a insult? this just proves that you are homophobic and that you have no respect to people. Comments like these altho it may seem normal to use this insult is degrading and stupid. TO say "THATS SO BLACk" Or "he dresses black" is also a stereotype, people think that just beccause someone says one thing its the right to say it. I hate it when people say those comments, and i do speak my mind when i hear them. So i just thought i should bring this up, don't tolerate any type of stereotype, even if its not targetted at you or not. I am not GAY, but i am not going to tolerate a homophobic person making a homophobic targeted comment. ITS STUPID, and im sorry if some of you fall in this trap. --one love ps. this isn't targeted at anyone, this has been buggin me for a LONG time and i think its a time to hear other people stories and thoughts, what ya think?

So i would like to say Thank you to everyone on this site and to everyone who has replied to my questions and comments! THANKS! And also i think we should all stop asking "GOD" about what we want in our lives, instead thank "GOD" for what "GOD" has done to everyone. Have you noticed not a lot of desi people use that word? We should all use this in our VOCABULARY! anyways thanks again one! Ps. say thank you to your mom and dad once in while... they may say thank you back some day !
  13. i think sardars being models is GREAT!!! its something that we all support because all you see are those white people and the occasional black person, the market needs to experiance some culture, ive seen one AD in seventeen a couple of years ago with a sadar and a newspaper, hez originally from montreal, i forgot his name though, he knows j-lo!!! Well i dunno if modelling is appropriate for a sikh site... nothing really to do with sikhism.. but i think its great thing to have in the market! All you see if there is an indian model is CUT HAIR PEEPS! anywayz respect to all the male sadar models out there! one

  15. yeah that was a long time ago when the gurus got married, i mean look at our grandparents they got married at like 18 or so, i think that is VERY YOUNG! man marriage for me is years ahead of me! and i think u need to be like 25 plus! anywayz thaz my opinion, and juz cuz u can't handle the opposite sex is no excuse to get married young, that juz promotes affairs and other immature things peepz do!!! and juz cuz ur parents say u have to marry young is no excuse too, WHO SIGNS THE PAPERS TO THE FORMS?? U DO! not ur mom or dad! one

  18. lol i think ur punjabi teacher is wrong! i don't think that punjabi can make every sound! but they do have wierd sounds!! i remember getting stuck on kaka and khakha, chacha, shasha, thatha, dhadha, dada, omg i can go onnnnnn forever and those yaya and stuff! omgg my punjabi school teacher would be yellin at me for hours trying to get those sounds! its hard i guess if you don't know it fluently, thaz why punjabi peepz can't say the W, they say V and the Z they say J! lol its juz the pronounciation... one! ps. never trust a punjabi teacher, they lie a lot! (well mine did!)
  19. im curious to know why people are marrying so young!!! ??!!??? maybe its because im getting older, so i am getting to know more and more people who are getting married that i used to talk to. But i still don't understand it. You have your whole life to look up to. For me personally i think late 20s is the ideal age. YOu need to go to uni/college/school and get a good job, then go on. But i don't understand these people who want to take off and get married, i know someone who got married straight out of school! maybe its the culture. I don't know or mabye its my parents because they got married VERY late in indian timing, i dunno, but all i have to say is LIVE YOUR LIFE, its not just about marriage, its about being true to yourself and work up to it, maybe im too young to understand, but for some reason i don't understand why!!!??? i think that if u marry early its like throwing away your life too soon, wait a while. Anyways this has been buggin me b/c i get really shocked when i hear a young person getting married, i thought that this was over and done with... i know in "3rd world" countries girls get married at 17, or even younger. AHHHHHHHHHHHh anywayz what ya guyz think?? please don't take no OFFENSE/ DEFENCE to this, im just curious why people marry so young...... do you know? and don't say love because thats just too typical of an answer!!! --keep on smiling
  20. yeahhhhh that vancouver thing was an EXTREME case, i don't think Gina princess has that kind of dad, well i pray that she doesn't! plus ITS HER DAD i mean she should have the confidence and feel proud that she has a dad too look up to! she did say she will do anything for her parents! so why shouldn't they do anything for her? one
  21. hey! well first of all may i say that the basic existense of sikhi was made because of inequality and injustice of the people, the CASTE SYSTEM! there should be none at all!! so i agree with steel bangle, in the fact that if your dad has a problem with that just pop that in somwhere, but i do know its MORE difficult than that... you can' t change an adult males view on life..... well it's hard. Well i can't give you taht much advice because im just a little girl to some people, how old are you? most likely in your mid 20s or older right, well you should be if you are thinking of marrying this person. But doesn't matter about that you are in love with this man and you should tell your dad. Your dad most likely will get upset that you have challenged his authority and that you stepped in a place of taboo for all brown girls. YOU know ur parents more than any of us, i think all you need is the confidence to confront him, do it in a time when you are not rushed or hurried, do it when hes not busy and your not busy, take your time but don't drag on hidding it. I know how my parents would react to this situation, so do you, so don't be tangled about the caste thing, you might never know, he might be happy that you found ya self a MAN! lol well keep on smiling ! and don't worry everything will go fineeeee!! and just build up the confidence and you can do anything, he is YOUR DAD he isn't going to kill you, so don't worry!!!!! one!
