  1. ACTUALLY scientific tests proved: naturally, asians are most intelligent/studious blacks are best atheletes, also instruments i believe whites are inbetween. im not being racist, but thats what they found. oh and yeh we shouldnt hate on gays, well not much anyway (joking)
  2. on this note, the head is meant to be covered all hte time for a sikh. not just reading bani etc. this ritual has crept in because sikhs dont keep their hair covered always, so nowadays only cover in gurdwara, etc. im sure u know the rehitnamas so i cant be bothered to post them ------------------------------------------------------------------- Moderator note: Try to go with topic. Don't just assume that everyone is here baptized or with hair. This forum is universal, and everyone is welcome to join if they have desire to learn about Sikhism. We want to inspire them so they can come back to Sikhism and live with it. So, for future try to go with the topic and refrain yourself from giving advices without knowing the real situations
  3. a few days ago i learnt some freaky stuff about kids who saw past lives and they correlated events with historical deaths of others....it was interestin.....search "proof of reincarnation" or "scientific evidence for reincarnation" or something like that........
  4. urmmmm i couldnt find hte same one but somone summed it up in a later/earlier thread http://www.sikhnet.com/sikhnet/discussion....26?OpenDocument sorry guys
  5. r k if only there were more sikh gals like u. major props 2 u!!
  6. yo.......lol......sorry to break everyones amazement etc......but this article is falsified it is not real......they had a debate on it on sikhnet and it is proved to be written later. what really happened in the tent (and it all happened in the tent) is between guruji, the panj and waheguru only. it was not done in the open, and i suspect this was where the panj were taught naam dridh (im just guessing at that, but its ment 2 b private aint it?) o yah, and about the goats being slaughtered, that was falsified aswell. again the story came out afterwards, like after gurujis death. since the panj never told anyone, and guruji never told anyone, no one knows. it is my opinion that the panj were beheaded in the tent, but certainly no one saw it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- moderator note: Can you post the link to this discussion from Sikhnet?
  7. a good read is "amrit ki hai" by bhai randhir singh. the english translation is up on the www.akj.org literature section to read. im sure that neo singh had some life changing experiences, but whether or not he will share them with us (n i dont really expect yah to, so dnt worri) is a different matter lol
  8. yeh i understand your point bhai for me it all just comes down to the fact that bhai sahib said all the SGGS had a specific rasa apart from the last page ragmalla which had nothing. i have alot of trust in bhai sahib and alot of stuff he said like keski is a kakkar, was only very recently backed up by those such as pyara singh padam who found accounts from the vahees of bhatt. if someone cud explain that i wud believe in it. and the controversy with alams kaam kandlaan story or whatever is sorta a bit dodgy. yeh i know its spreading controversy but i cant really talk about this stuff with family, they are all antiragmalla and wont even entertain the idea me questioning that, and if i go to the gurdwara they are mostly pro. the only place i can get a balanced view is from the net, or books, etc. sorry-ness.
  9. i think namdharis need a beating primarily because they dont let women take amrit. Moderator's Note: Please Behave. You could have said that nicely
  10. lol, tell him to listen to suleman the ghost tape then or read bhai randhir singhs autobiography he sees into past lives. reincarnation is the most credible life after death theory, primarily becuz if there was a eternal hell, it would involve an unjust god, becuz no god would give infinite punishment for finite actions.....lol i say that every time to moslems/christians and they go silent
  11. KARMA. bad karma from past lives - suffering in this one - cause and effect. smoke drink and booze young - suffering in old age - cause and effect. cut your hair, dont take amrit - then get your ass kicked by jaam - cause and effect.
  12. the sex thing was a parallel. u mite see it as ritualistic in the same way u see jhoot as ritualistic. there is little mention of jhoot in rahit maryada by sgpc but then again they allow u to have meat. alot of other issues like sarbloh bibek arent touched on either. When u take amrit the following is said: Gursikh di roti beti di saanjh Gursikh naal. The Gursikhs have to share food and establish marital relationships with Gursikhs only so what is a gursikh? bhai gurdas says its someone whos taken amrit. Gur Deekhya Lai Sikh, Sikh Sadaayaa. (Var3,Pauri 11) One is called a Sikh only after he has been blessed with 'deekhya.' Charan Dhoe Rehraas Kar Charnamrit Gursikhaan Pilaaayaa (Var 1, Pauri 23) (Guru Nanak) followed the system of washing the Guru's Feet and blessing the Gursikhs with the Charanamrit (Charan-Pahul). (charan pahul can be paralleled with khanda de paul obviously) bhai desa singhs rahitnama says this also: Pratham Rahit Yeh Jaan, Khande-ki-Pahul Chhakey. Soee Sikh Sujaan, Avar Naa Pahul Jo Lai. The primary Rahit for a Sikh is to take Khande-ki-Pahul. Only he is sagacious Sikh. a couple more relating to bibek aswell incase anyone is interested: "Bhojanaad Moundit naal chhakey, Tankhaiyaa" or One who eats food with a Mona/non-Sikh, is guilty of a breach of conduct (Piara Singh Padam’s Rehitnamay pg. 72) "Patr sarb loh kay, bhougtay asan souaad....loh patr mai chhakai," meaning: using utensils of sarbloh, one eats tasty food...one should eat in sarb loh utensils" (Padam, 75) Sau Sakhee, sakhee #8’s rehitnama: "So Sikh gur ka janeeay, Monay ann na khai": such is a Sikh of The Guru who does not eat the food of Monay/Non-Sikhs. there we go. a gursikh is someone who has taken amrit. gursikhs can only share food with other gursikhs. therefore, amritdharis can only eat from/share food w/ other amritdharis
  13. can i just say whilst i would never tell anyone to hold back from taking amrit, that wud b the worst thing, just make sure you are FULLY prepared if u want the highest amrit raas when u take amrit.....if u havent prepared properly then you wont get as much benefit...also do alot of research into the rahit, the controversies over meat, keski etc to make sure that you are sure on everything. kaur thats wicked ur 15, im 16 n hope to take amrit in about 2yrs.... urm simi.....im not going to say anything....most people probably know how i feel on clubbing and whatnot
  14. When Kalyug finishes (this will be ALONG time) then there will be Sattyug, and the cycle starts again. Some people say that the yugs apply to states of mind, but I am not so sure. The teachings of the SGGS are eternal anyway - there is not a single shabad which is not totally applicable to any time, any place, and any person!
  15. Yo......dont worry about it.....me, all my extended family, and alot of mates are going out there in 10-15 yrs time.....trust me there are alot of people planning to do lots of parchar etc
  16. I am not pro ragmalla simply because neither was Bhai Randhir Singh. He is one of the greatest saints we have had and if he says there is no Rasa in it, and it is not Gurbani, then I am inclined to believe him. Read the article on AKJ site.
  17. like i said i havent got a reference. but i heard it once of a reliable person, and i think it was mentioned on sarbloh.info, but im not sure how or where. guys, its common sense. if a man fancies another man, there is something wrong. the ying yang balance is wrong. then its yang yang. sikhi cannot condone such things. call me homophobic, but theres a gay person at my school and i always feel a bit nervous around him
  18. If gay anand karaj was allowed i would convert to islam. i cant give a page no for triyah charitrer cuz i actually havent read it myself lol, but i am 100percent sure its in the same catagory of incest... so say if someone was attracted to their sister....would you allow them to have anand karaj....for the sake of "liberalism" and attracting more people? set fire 2 de chichimon lol joking
  19. thats teh whole point.......akal takht havent made a decision... during udhasi times....they recited it.......then after singh sabha they stopped.....then they started at durbar sahib.....then i think they started again but im not sure. their current stance is recite it "according to local practise/tradition".
  20. guys, i am not a scholar nor have i read every single page of SGGS ji. if u notice I havent actually said Im for or against - Im just as confused as other people here. This isnt a problem with this generation - like I said before, the debate has raged since the late 1800s. People as early back as Gyani Ditt Singh were anti Ragmalla. Im not trying to stir up discontent or confuse the youth, I'm just searching for the truth! If Gyani Ditt Singh, who was an important part of the Singh Sabha Movement (and if it wasnt for them we'd probaby all be in a Hindu Mandir by now), has doubted the Ragmalla, then this is a problem that must be addressed, rather than swept away. This next generation of Sikhs might be the last generation that we get before everything turns pearshaped for the panth (or more so than already) and a decision needs to be made by the Akal Takht on this issue! Im sorry if I take this a bit seriously, but to me the SGGS is the most important wordly/touchable/seeable object in my life, and if I have doubts on a part of that, it needs to be resolved.
  21. the main aim of a sikh is to praise god. but surely i could cut my hair, drink, do drugs, and munch meat, and i could still praise god. i dont think my main aim is to gain salvation, or to become any happier - these are byproducts of pure praise of god. and praise of god can manifest in paath, noble acts, seva, etc etc. so if a dodgy new jatha sprung up, and they changed kirpan to katar, would you have any problem taking amrit from them (if you werent amritdhari already)? i mean, youd still be an amritdhari.....and you wouldnt technically be any different, other than the fact that you carrying a punch dagger instead of a kirpan.... but hte difference is.....at high spiritual levels you probably COULD feel a differnece, just as at high spiritaul levels, not reading ragmalla could hinder me, or being confused on what gurbani is could do the same. in the same way. there are many, many, variations on the rehit from differnet jathas, and they cant all be right. one of them was the one that guruji imposed in 1699. and all i wish to do is follow that....once im on the right path ill hav no trouble accelerating str8 ahead!
  22. ill never work out why langar is sooo tasty....makes posh restaurant food or whatever taste ming.....and even when your gran makes it....it still isnt quite as nice.........indeedy, langar is something very special - and unique to sikhs!
  23. gurbilas patshahi 9 talks about guru tegh bahadur losing his senses, then his head being cut off, going flying into the sky and landing in someones house. should we accept such blasphemy since it is surrounded by better stuff? or should we disprove such facts with evidence? there is also some suggestion that a few pauris have been interpolated into akal ustat. they dont fit the writers style, or subject. should we leave them there (they are in praise of a hindu god btw, and not in the way that other metaphorical compositions are) or disprove those? ragmalla for me is a very important issue. we shoudlnt accept anything blindly. i wouldnt want my holy book to have stuff written that has come out of an erotic stories book!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. punjabis well important.....bt having sed that my punjabi aint great at all..... most important thing is teaching kids from a young age....that is when their mind is developing the most...if their role models are barbie dolls and gorees (lol) then you know what path they will take when they are older, if the first stories/nursery rhymes they learn are those of the gurus then they have a strong foundation to increase in their sikhi. oh yeah and sangats very important.
  25. Its not a ritual, the Rahit says dont take jooth from a non amritdhari U mite find it weird that a amritdhari cant have a sexual relationship with a non amritdhari, including his/her wife, but I see the reason straight away. It is very easy to shout BRAHMINISM at everything you dont like lol
