what Is the technical difference between the way santhia is taught of gurbani and that of Sanatani bani such as Vedas, Upanishads, shaastras etc?

My understanding is that a lot of emphasis was put on perfect pronouniation and memorisation of Hindu bani. But from my experience - in terms of listening to bani from others - not so much importance is given by sikhs, despite what is said.

In the earlier days people did'n use the vechile of writing, so they memorised everything which is the reason why they put so much emphasis on santhia.

I was talking to an uncle one day who told me how, when he was young, people learned Gurbani by listening to paath and trying to memorise it, instead of just having Bani in a gutka, hereby having an excuse not to memorise it, since you can always just read it from a gutka etc.
