FIVE men have been locked up for a total of 32-and-a-half years and branded "sexual predators" after they were found guilty of having sex with vulnerable girls as young as 12.

Judge Peter Kelson QC told the men he had no sympathy for them as some wept when he handed down the sentences at Sheffield Crown Court.

He said: "Your weeping cuts no ice with me. A few years ago you had what you regarded as your fun and now you are taking your punishment.

"All five of you were convicted of offences of sexual activity with a child.

"The clue is in the title, a child. This legislation concerns itself with child protection, perhaps to some extent from themselves, but particularly protection from sexual predators, like I find all five of you to be.

"The message must go out loud and clear that our society will not tolerate sexual predators preying on children. It is no defence to bleat that you thought she was over 16.

"If there is any doubt at all there should be no sexual activity."

Two brothers, their cousin and two other men, had sex with the girls, two aged 13 and one aged 16, in cars, alleyways and car parks in Rotherham and at the girls' homes.

They duped the girls into believing they were in loving relationships but used them for sexual gratification.

The girls have been removed from South Yorkshire by police and Rotherham social services who today welcomed the sentences.

Razwan Razaq, aged 30, of Oxford Street, Clifton, was branded a "danger to children" by the judge. He was jailed for 11 years after he was found guilty of having sex with two 13-year-old girls.

He admitted breaching a sexual offences prevention order banning him from being alone with any girl under 16, which was imposed in 2005 for an indecent assault on a girl aged 13.

Judge Kelson said Razaq cruised the streets of Rotherham looking for sexual partners, not caring how old they were. He even told one victim he wanted to marry her.

"The younger they were the easier it was. You are a danger to children as you appear not to care what the true ages are."

Razaq's younger brother Umar, 24, also of Oxford Street, was jailed for four-and-a-half years. He was found guilty of having sex with a 13-year-old.

The judge said he befriended her when she was 12. On one occasion Razaq rang his cousin Mohammed Zafran Ramzan and told him to come and have sex with the girl.

"You were facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child by your cousin. Nobody should take a chance on a female's age. Less still should they share that child with somebody else for sexual gratification."

Mohammed Ramzan, 21, of Broom Grove, Broom, was sentenced to nine years for raping a 16-year-old girl and two counts of having sex with her 13-year-old cousin.

"You knew she was under 16 but for the sake of your own sexual gratification you carried on regardless."

Adil Hussain, 20, of Nelson Street, Clifton, Rotherham, was sent to a young offenders' institution for four years for having sex with a 13-year-old.

"She was obviously under age. You gave in to your lust regardless," said the Judge.

Mohsin Khan, 21, of Haworth Crescent, Moorgate, was jailed for four years for sex with a 13-year-old in his car and giving her cannabis. The judge said Khan told her he loved her and would spoil her like a princess.

Det Con Dave Walker from South Yorkshire Police public protection unit said: "This has been a very difficult two year process for the girls at the heart of the case and we hope they can now move on with the rest of their lives."
