amardeep Posted February 17, 2011 Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 Listening to the below recitation of Shiva Sahasranama (it made me think of Jaap Sahib) I wondered what the reason is that Sikhism does'nt have a tradition of recitation like we see in the Islamic and Vedic tradition? Is it because Sikhism came in en age of litteracy which means that the purpose of oral traditions etc. was not as strong a need as it was in the two other traditions where litteracy was uncommon. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I find listening to it quite 'cosmic'. If you do ever come across the SGGS saloks recited puratan style, please point it out.
