This is the best read I've had in a while.

Absolutely astounding analysis of dasmesh pita's Zafarnama in context of inter-court communications and allusions to the Ferdousi's classic Shahnama.

Really highlight's Guru ji's literary side and nuanced diplomacy, even under the most distressing of circumstances. Interesting to note the author claims that the work acknowledges Mohammad in its opening stanzas.

Also looks at the lesser known Fatehnama and posits the very interesting idea that it could have been based on an earlier, more aggressive communication that was penned just after the shaheedi of the sahibzaday or it could have been the work of a younger fighter amongst the Sikhs.

Also delves into the historical use of the term nihang as a metaphor for a fierce fighter in Persian literature.

I loved it; it touched my heart! Enjoy!
