Importance Of Beards

I say deliberately because Gandhi purposely said the Gita or Mahabharata never really happened but represented an internal struggle. If that's not deliberately ignoring or misinforming people then I don't know what is.

I cringe when I hear Indians say " this is land of Gandhi and Buddha" so no fighting or self defence allowed here. Deliberately ignoring Guru gobind Singh, Shivaji, Rana Pratap, Banda BAhadur and others.

Agreed. Gandhi's interpretation of the Gita does not do it justice.

However, as far as the Buddha and Buddhist philosophy is concerned, I'm not sure they advocate complete pacifism. Remember, the original masters of karate and kung fu were Buddhist (who spread the arts to the far east)

Kung Fu and Jiu Jitzu was practiced in India by the Yindoos and then taken the Far East by the Buddhists. I also believe the Japanese Samurai with their hair in a Jura also come from Indian tradition.

Interestingly, Bruce Lee's own martial art " Jeet Kwan Do" the way of victory definately has a Sanskrit connection " Jeet"

Or the martial aspect was deliberately dumbed down.,

Even in the old sculptures of Chola Dynasty they are painted like that.

I think the eternal-youth argument has a stronger base.

For example even Shiv ji who is a yogi, lives in jungles, is portrayed with a very young face, even though his jatta suggests he would also have a beard and would be quite aged.

So youth is a theme. Since beard represents age and wisdom, it wasn't painted. I think they had a beard but the artists were painting them not based on what is "realistic" but based on a different value system.
