Is there any link between the two ? or was it just a random act of nature and humans just happened to be in its pathway ?

here is the link to Gadhimai Hindu festival in which around 5000 buffaloes were killed for ritual purposes

But then again millions of animals are slaughtered for eating purposes in the western hemisphere ?

Afterall , there might not be a causal relationship between the two events.

Last time when floods came in Hemkund Sahib area, people were saying it was bound to happen because so many illergal and inapproriate activities were being carried out in neighboring hotels of Gobind Ghat. People were abusing the sanctity of the place. Event Sant Jarnail Singh saw eggshells near the gurdwara but remained quiet, as told by Giani Thakur Singh.

Maybe the northern areas of India, tibet, nepal, hemkund sahib are so powerful, pure, pavitar that when bad activites are done they have an exaggerated effect due to nature of the shakti of that place.

But all things aside, it is sad for people who are going through such circumstances. We should always be fearful of God and remember Him at all time. Who knows what will happen when ?

Bīj bīj ḏekẖi▫o baho parkārā. I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted -

ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ फल पाके ते एकंकारा ॥२॥ Fal pāke ṯe ekankārā. ||2||

The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs,

ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ घट फूटे ते ओही प्रगासु ॥

Gẖat fūte ṯe ohī pargās. but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains.

ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ भरम लोभ मोह माइआ विकार ॥

Bẖaram lobẖ moh mā▫i▫ā vikār. Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya.

N30 jee, Have you done it. Please do tell how "stand totally apart from conditioned mind"? how does it reveal... like you think something and the answer appear or task is completed for you without any effort?? or would you like to answer in your Nisargadatta link?
