I read elsewhere that this 26 year old 'here', was a Chechen. Never heard of Chechens in the UK (they're probably under the radar as 'Russians')

What do the Sangat think ? I think he tried to do the right action

Public launch petition supporting ‘hero’ who ran over Maida Vale killer

JANUARY 26, 2022

A petition has been established in support of the ‘hero’ driver who ploughed his car into a man stabbing his ex-wife on a London street.

Yasmine Wafah Chkaifi, 43, was stabbed to death by ex-husband Leon Mccaskie, 41, in Maida Vale, north west London on Monday.

Mr Mccaskie also died at the scene after a 26-year-old drove his car into him in a desperate attempt to stop the deadly attack.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently on bail.

Ms Chkaifi’s family have described the driver as a ‘hero’ who ‘deserves a medal from the Queen’.

Members of the public moved by his intervention have now signed a rapidly growing petition to protest the driver being charged with murder.

Cindy Chan, who began the petition said she felt ‘compelled’ to stand up for ‘the 26 year old driver who saw this happening and tried to do something about it by driving his car into this horrific act to stop it.’

‘He is a hero. He is our #maidavaleherodriver.

‘He does not deserve a prison sentence. He acted to stop this horror. He must be in complete shock by seeing this stabbing and is not a murderer… it should be diminished responsibility. He tried to protect the woman.

‘The stabber is the murderer as he had an intent to kill but the driver just wanted to stop it.’

Over 8,000 people have now signed the petition, many commenting with messages of support and encouragement.

Jenny Borrett wrote that if the driver is charged with murder ‘it would be an outrage to human decency’.

Another signatory, Teresa Crowley, wrote ‘he acted out of fear of what he witnessed’ and argued that ‘instead of locking him up’ he should be given ‘recognition for being a hero’.

Ms Chkaifi’s family have also hit out at the police for doing ‘nothing’ to help her in the years of intimidation and stalking she had endured from her ex-husband despite repeated warnings about his behaviour.

Ms Chkaifi’s son told MailOnline: ‘It was a very abusive relationship which got worse after the divorce. My mother was continually being harassed and intimidated by this man. He made her life hell.’

He added: ‘I was always in touch with the police but they did nothing to help here. There was even a panic alarm installed in our flat – that's how scared she was of this man. He was a monster.’

Responding to the allegation, the Met Police said: ‘A Stalking Prevention Order had been obtained against the deceased man, as a matter of course there will be a review by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards NPTD further.’

He should be out for sure. Murder means he planned it. How you gonna plan to witness an attack with a deadly weapon and have to respond with your only deadly weapon, your car?

What nonsense.
