I grew up watching my grand-dad cutting everything by hand (i.e. saw) including taking a few mm off the sides of hardwood (fire check) doors!!, this saves so much time and gives accurate cuts on small timber. Thats really a life changer veer ji especially as how you mentioned seeing your grand dad cutting everything by hand is not easy i can totally relate to it. Its good to be creative as you made a work bench using scrap timber is a really good idea.
