I've read so many books that spell it Waheguru and even on kirtan titles they spell it Waheguru, but does it really matter(seems like it should matter lots)? Hari Posted October 10, 2003 Report Share Posted October 10, 2003 In Gurbani Gurmantar is spelled: vava-kanna-haha-sihari-gagga-aunkar-gagga-dulaunkar That's why I always use Vahiguru (v-A-h-i-g-u-r-U), it is best transliteration of Gurmantar. I pronounce Gurmantar as Vaa-hi-guroo.There is no "w" in Gurmukhi, but in some instances vava is meant as "w," especially Persian/Arabic loan words, like awwal (spelt aval), as in Awwal Allah Nur Upaya.
