I was doing some more research and some say the v sound doesn't exist in northern india. I'm quite confused....

In Gurbani Gurmantar is spelled:

vava-kanna-haha-sihari-gagga-aunkar-gagga-dulaunkar

That's why I always use Vahiguru (v-A-h-i-g-u-r-U), it is best transliteration of Gurmantar.

I pronounce Gurmantar as Vaa-hi-guroo.There is no "w" in Gurmukhi, but in some instances vava is meant as "w," especially Persian/Arabic loan words, like awwal (spelt aval), as in Awwal Allah Nur Upaya.

As far as I know, in Sanskrit, there is no "w" letter nor "w" sound.

well if they're that sensitive... sorry if I offended anyone but I do believe that we should strice for proper transliteration instead of using amateurish ways..
