tavleen Posted April 18, 2003 Report Share Posted April 18, 2003 Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I came across this shabad one time when i was feeling kinda down and after reading it and its translation, i felt a whoooole lot better. so i thought i'd post it on here because we all have times when we feel like everything's working against us, but really, it's nothing at all. just a matter of how we look at things..anyway, this shabad appears on page 1140 of Guru Granth Sahib Jee... ---- bhairo mahalla panjva Bhairo, 5th Guru tao kaReeai jay hovai baahar We should feel sad, if God were beyond us. tao kaReeai jay visrai narhar We should feel sad, if we forget the Lord. tao kaReeai jay doojaa bhaaey We should feel sad, if we are in love with duality. kiaa kaReeai jaa(n ) raheaa samaaey||1|| But why should we feel sad? The Lord is pervading everywhere. ||1|| maaeaa moh kaRe kaR pacheaa In love and attachment to Maya, the mortals are sad, and are consumed by sadness. bin naavai bhram bhram bhram khapeaa||rahaao|| Without the Name, they wander and wander and wander, and waste away. ||1||Pause|| tao kaReeai jay dooja kartaa We should feel sad, if there were another Creator Lord. tao kaReeai jay ane-aaey ko martaa We should feel sad, if someone dies by injustice. tao kaReeai jay kichh jaaNai naahee We should feel sad, if something were not known to the Lord. kiaa kaReeai jaa(n ) bharpoor samaahee||2|| But why should we feel sad? The Lord is totally permeating everywhere. ||2|| tao kaReeai jay kichh hoy dhhin(g)aaNai We should feel sad, if God were a tyrant. tao kaReeai jay bhool ru(n)n(j)aaNai We should feel sad, if He made us suffer by mistake. gur kaheaa jo hoy sabh prabh tay The Guru says that whatever happens is all by God's Will. tab kaaRaa chodd achint ham sotay||3|| So I have abandoned sadness, and I now sleep without anxiety. ||3|| prabh toohai THaakur sabh ko tera O God, You alone are my Lord and Master; all belong to You. jio bhaavai tio karey niberaa According to Your Will, You pass judgement. dutiaa naasat ik raheaa samaaey There is no other at all; the One Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere. raakhoh paij nanak sarNaaey||4||5||18|| Please save Nanak's honor; I have come to Your Sanctuary. ||4||5||18|| ----- 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
