7 Aspects of Man

Recommended Posts

Man, as the mystics understand him, is the immortal soul surrounded by seven aspects. Here follows a summary of the "seven aspects of man" established around the actinic causal body of the soul, anandamaya kosha, "sheath of bliss":

1) the physical body, annamaya kosha, "food-made sheath;"

2) the vital health body, pranic sheath, pranamaya kosha;

3) the astral body, instinctive aspect of manomaya kosha;

4) the human aura and instinctive mind, prabhamandala and manas chitta;

5) the intellect, odic causal sheath, buddhi chitta;

6) the subtle nerve system, nadis and chakras;

7) the intuitive mind, actinodic causal sheath, vijnanamaya kosha, "sheath of cognition."

Reverse your thinking about yourself... Visualize the pure radiant body of light, the being of the soul, the "I Am," the "Watcher." Then around that is formed the intuitive mind, and around that is formed the intellect. Then the chakras come into view, governing the highest to the lowest states of mind, and the ida, pingala and sushumna currents. The instinctive nature is formed around this, then the human aura, through which thought forms are created, then the vital health body, and then the physical body.

the astral body is alwys there with you. it vibrates at a finer frequency....

when u r deep in meditation the body that you can feel is the etheric body,which u feel yourself floationg, when u go more and more deep then u loose sense of physicla body and experience the astral.

in dreams u r always navigating in your astral body.

i disagree the astral body must be constructed through sadhana, dreaming is part of the physical body, thoughts are material things. Sowing seeds in barren field is a metaphor for individuals who read gurbani but do not put in the effort required to build a soul as it were. These individuals are soul-less i.e. they are barren.

When you die .. your physical body dies. It is the Astral Body that leaves the physical body permanently and goes to the next level.

All ghosts-spirits- good or bad are all actually astral bodies !

what normaly-day ppl call as ghosts is actually an astral body and it is there when you are alive also.

the barren field is referring to a state of mind, nothing to do with the astral body.

READ THIS :

brother... see you have a physical body.... and this physical body has a certain age, and it dies.

then covering the physical body you have another intermediate body this is the etheric body. when you are deep in meditation and at that time you loose sense of your physical body, in this stage you are in the etheric body.

after the etheric body comes the astral body, the only difference between the astral body and the etheric body is that the etheri body is a finer vibration of the physical body, where as the astral body vibrates at even finer and subtle vibrations, when you are aware of the astral body then you can leave your physical body and travel to different places.

when you are deep in meditatino and if you feel as if you are coming out of your body,.... that sensation is your astral body.

The astral body can be felt and experienced by anyone, even a non-spiritual person can.

after the astral body comes the CASUAL BODY... the casual body is the IDEA BODY... and it can be experienced only by saints.

after the casual BODY COMES THE SOUL ! the atma... this is the REAL GOD.

So the SOUL... THE REAL YOU is covered in three delusions and that is the 1)Casual Body 2)Astral Body 3)Physical Body.

When you die..only your physical bodies, and your etheric body also dies shortly after, but your astral body is still alive and it goes and takes upon another physical body and that is what is called REBIRTH.

But when you do a lot of meditation, you shed your physical body, and your astral body and even then higher you can shed your casual body and experience the GOD.

Just do a google search on "Astral Body" or a google search on "Astral Projection" It will give you all the answers.

Infact the astral body lives in an ASTRAL WORLD it is a counterpart of the physical world ! which is vibrating at subtle vibrations and the casual body lives in an casual world which is vibrating even at subtle vibrations...

We can feel only the physical body, cos we have bcome ignorant and attached to the five senses, this is why we can experience the higher and finer bodies.

Subtle layer of the body which is also known as shuksam sirar/astral layer of the body is made of 17 elements: 5 gyan indraies(senses), 5 karam indraies, 5 prans(upan, bhayan, uppran etc), antish karan(man chit, budd/ahankar).

Astral body is related to mind, when one reaches nirvakalap samadhi one rises above from all three layers of the body- ashthol, shuksham, karan parpanch, at that state of atma there is nothing but anubhav parkash, there is no consciouness/sub consicouness...sun samadhi.

YES both are defining states of God.

I just want to say taht while there is Nirbikalpa Samadhi, there is also a more finer samadhi which is the ultimate state that is Sehaj Samadhi.

The difference is that Sehaj Samadhi is like being permanently and forever in Nirbikalpa Samadhi. A person can go and come out willingly when he reaches nirbikalpa samadhi, but in sehaj samadhi he remains 24 hours in that state.

This is why we sometimes say the mind has attained "SEHAJ". In this samadhi the breath becomes very slow and sometimes even stops, Heart also stops and there is no sense of Time... there is no past-present-future.. the perception is lost.
