  1. If I'm honest, my punjabi is extremely weak so I struggle with Punjabi katha... especially Bhai Sewa Singh Tarmala. When I do understand it's mind blowing though. If anyone could translate the technique that would be great. Just a brief overview. I think I understood a good junk though.
  2. This entire youtube channel has a good collection of videos :)

It was something along the lines of a stage in spirituality. Could someone do an in depth analysis of this Shabad? Thank you, Waheguru Ji.
  4. Is there a correlation between the nostril and the type of thoughts as well? I believe it was left side is rajogun and right is tamogun. After your post I did watch it more closely and the shift is there. During amrit vela and many times during meditation the left is better. At the moment right has a better flow, but it's not that far off from the left. Last night the left was fully blocked.
  5. The main issue for me is always the right nostril. Left always has very good flow, but right is almost always tight.
  6. Yes, exactly the way it's done in the video above. It's somewhat hard the first few attempts but as you settle in it gets easier. The hardest part is going continuously.
  7. First formal attempt - the expert version is just a tad bit too hard but intermediate is easy. Even with intermediate I felt more of a balance between the nostrils than I did when I first began.
  8. I appreciate the advice on this from everyone. To start off, I will try the video Lucky sent. It seems very powerful for bringing balance. I'll report back on how it goes for me. It won't be my primary practice but a supplement on the side.
Raag Maaroo, The Word Of Jai Dayv Jee: ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਚੰਦ ਸਤ ਭੇਦਿਆ ਨਾਦ ਸਤ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਸੂਰ ਸਤ ਖੋੜਸਾ ਦਤੁ ਕੀਆ ॥ The breath is drawn in through the left nostril; it is held in the central channel of the Sukhmanaa, and exhaled through the right nostril, repeating the Lord's Name sixteen times. I am powerless; my power has been broken. My unstable mind has been stabilized, and my unadorned soul has been adorned. I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. Within my mind, I chant the Name of the Primal Lord God, the Source of virtue. My vision, that You are I are separate, has melted away. I worship the One who is worthy of being worshipped. Like water merging in water, I merge in the Lord. Says Jai Dayv, I meditate and contemplate the Luminous, Triumphant Lord. I am lovingly absorbed in the Nirvaanaa of God. । Gurmukho, my question has to do with the shabad above. In the first line a technique to do simran is outlined. Is this used to balance ida and pingla? At which stage would someone use this technique? Is there any gain from doing it at earlier stages?
  10. (I accidentally posted this twice, could admin please delete this one). Sorry about that, Waheguru ji.
। I recently started yoga for the health benefits. I've mainly been doing the "1 minute breath" as a way to strength voice for kirtan. But what I have been wondering is what are the spiritual benefits of various types of yoga (especially the one's that focus on strengthening the nabhi)? Would yoga help your simran in any way?
  12. Yeah I agree. I should have just done more Simran. It's a slippery road to go down especially if you end up getting attached to it.
। I know this is a topic that most abyassi's are against but i had a bit of free time today and started playing around with it. I finished simran today and was in a really calm state, heart rate was really calm and mind was extremely focused. I've been thinking about playing with astral projection again for a while so I decided to try it again. I got myself to the vibration point where the vibrations in your body pick up extremely fast. I started floating and separating but kind of had the initial fear and started going back in. Then it feels like someone came to help me and pulled me out. I didn't have full awareness, I could barely figure out what was happening. I couldn't stand up or look around but I was able to tell myself to roll to the side of the bed. From there on I used the bed side to stand up and all I really did was run around because I didn't know what to do, but I was in full control. After a while I got bored and told myself I wanted to end this, I started to feel my physical body and opened my eyes and I was back. The vibrations since have picked up more than they have in a while and I feel as if there are other entities around us that we don't know of. (That may sound weird lol but that was my first thought I had when everything ended). What my question is, due to the fact I didn't have full awareness/sight of what was happening but had full control of myself. Was this a lucid dream or an astral projection?
  14. I tend to have a lot of dreams with mahapurakhs It usually tends to be Bhagat Ji (Bhagat Jaswant Singh) - they'll usually talk to me and act really laid back and fun. The one I had last night was them just spending a day with me. A really long time ago I had one with Baba Nihaal Singh - I dreamt it was a really cold day and they kept giving me layers of clothes because they knew I was cold. (I've never met Baba Nihaal Singh in my life). They didn't speak at all during the dream. The other mahapurakh that's been in one was Baba Isher Singh. I've obviously never met them (I'm 17), I've never really watched/listened to any of their recordings nor did I know much about them. They came to the dream and just showed me love. They didn't speak a single word but the emotion was the communication, the most powerful part of the dream was when they hugged me. It almost seemed like I was feeling physical pleasure during that moment even though I was in a dream. What I've noticed is that these dreams are more frequent when my Simran is going well - maybe there's a connection?
  15. I'm in the same boat when it comes to the tiking. I've gone to the extent of getting rid of all clocks on my upper floor and replacing them with digital clocks. Is there anyone here who can listen to multiple sounds at once? For me it's just one sound at a time. They change during each session but I have no control over which one I'm listening to.
  16. Would the headphone idea still be useful if you're focusing on gurmantar? I tend to switch from the sounds back to gurmantar throughout my meditation. I don't know if the headphones would cancel out the sound of your voice too.
  17. I'm not 100% sure but this is what I've heard when doing a sava lakh (40 day) jaap. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. - Begin with a full body and kes ishnaan - Lay out a clean white cloth to sit on - Do an ardas before the beginning of the jaap - Some people use dhoof to keep the air around them distraction free - Keeping water nearby is good as well, it takes in the vibrations and you can drink it at the end of the day - For focus, I'm not fully sure - Some people say to focus on the trikuti (third eye), some say just the sound matters - 125,000/40 is 3125 so 3125 mool mantars daily - 3125 divided by a 108 bead mala is 28.9 so basically 29 mala's (108 beads) a day I'm not sure how long it would take daily, I've never tried the jaap myself, I'm guessing maybe 5-8 hours a day.
  18. VJKK VJKF I know that in the beginning stages the first distraction that comes up to stop your focus is your thoughts. Later on people have told me ridhian/sidhian come up to distract you off the path and I've also heard your vices can attack you as well. Is there anything else that may come up as a distraction? And does anyone have any info on whether or not it's true that the 5 vices may possibly try and lead you the wrong way?
  19. I was in the same situation last year. I was at the top in all my classes but then my grades dropped and I almost started failing. A Singh sat down with me and explained that your education is extremely important and it's all about striking a balance. If you don't work hard in school now, for the rest of your life you're going to have it hard and might have to work in a situation where you'll constantly be too tired for bhagti. And it also come down to giving daswand, you can't really give daswand of money when you barely have enough to pay bills/take care of kids etc. Another good point is that you should try to get into such a good position that you can take off days or weeks without it being a problem. That will come in handy especially when it comes to going to Sikhi based kamai camps. Many jobs won't even give you a day off to go to a nagar kirtan. Try and look at school as your kirat for the time being. Work hard now so you don't have to work as hard later and you can spend as much time as possible doing meditation/reading bani/japping naam.
  20. VJKK VJKF I've never understood why people use touf and mala's during their meditation. Is there a spiritual significance? Do they help a lot? Am I missing out for not using them?
  21. I'm from Ontario in a mainly white city, not many Sikhs. Closest area with sangat is about an hour away and I'm not old enough to drive by myself.
  22. What happens to me is I feel myself leaving but then I get scared and go back in. The main reason I've been aiming at astral travel is because where I live there isn't much sangat (I'm too young to drive anywhere where there is sangat) and I want to go to Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) as much as possible, I feel like that would be amazing. The power of the sangat at darbar sahib is amazing.
