That's just one of the insignias. This is if you follow the japna techniques and focus on the dhun. Eventually you should hear the shabd dhun and it is 24/7  an-din.
This is just one nishanee if following this practice method. There's a couple of other nishanees that I'm aware of but I'm sure there will be many more in gurbani.
Tricky part. What happens is that when you still the mind, you will hear it. Objective is to be aware of it whilst getting on with the day. It's an ongoing development process where one starts learning to conquer the mind.  There's lots of stages in this conquering starting of with deep khoj within and learning to distinguish between mann's mat and Gur-mat. ie. immediately identifying if your decision making was man-mat or gurmat.

It's not from anyone in particular but from what I've summed up from various sources over the years, my own insights (aatmic gyan), experiences and gurbani. It seems to follow the flow of gurbani that I'm understanding.
Naam being pargat is a very important milestone and breakthrough point. Gurbani clarifies this especially the significance  of being out of lakh chaurasi and getting naam amrit.

If you like; I can give you an idea of the deeper explanations in pm, since they are not suitable for open forum, even though it's all in gurbani.  Let me know, but It may be a few days or so as I'll be busy with my 'body & spirit' building regimes!

Sure.  A few ways explaining this as per gurbani.
Let's say that after doing japna, one starts to hear the shabad or a dhun  It can be very faint at first, and can even be 'hit or miss'.
There's stages where it disappears and remerges again, stages when it vanishes every time you try to listen in.  Even stages when it can go away for a good while until one makes some efforts again. At these levels, its not pargat. it's not 24/7.
When shabad gets pargat, there are different nishanees in gurbani about what a sevak may experience in meditation and even in everyday life. When these changes and experiences occur, it becomes 24/7. Becomes pargat. It is now called NAAM, the sound of guru's voice, coming from his mukh, Sevak is following path of gurmukh.
The shabad is naam and naam is shabad. It's all EK.
As well as this, if sevak starts doing everything in tune with this Naam, then he/she will be in hukam of satguru.
    ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬੁਝਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
Ėko nām hukam hai Nānak saṯgur ḏī▫ā bujẖā▫e jī▫o. ||5||
The One Name is the Lord's Command; O Nanak, the True Guru has given me this understanding. ||5||

Guidance of gurbani can show every individual there own verification and nsishanees that they've reached this Naam pargat avastha.

The energy generated from super positive sangat and the cloud of divine spirit around you can certainly kick you up a few notches. I've encountered this a few times and it leaves you feeling elevated without having made too much effort.
These sounds should become one, so to say.
I think the intentions and pre-conditioning of mind really plays a big role here. I wouldn't advise you continue searching for the same sound again,  the bell, chimta, drums etc.
I remember that I'd always say to myself "OK, got it,..heard that now.. what next ?"  For me, I was able to get through these until they become a single sound. eko naam, eko shabad.    It may help if you try and disciple your inner mind in this way. If you can, then it can be very beneficial in your own self-development because you may awaken to the hidden depths of your mann.
As I always say; listen, acknowledge and then move on.    Don't worry too much about them because they won't go anywhere. You hear them at first, then they fade and become one. You follow that one and then you will hear them again when you are at the darbar. There, they are called panj shabad.    Anand sahib bani says  "vajay panch shabad tit ghar subhagay" At that stage, you're completely out of Kaal's desh (maya) and in chautha pad. The 5 dhuts will be left outside the door behind you (panj dhut tudh vas kithay kaal kantakh mariya).
I said some time ago; the shabads are kind of preliminary, as if  heard earlier as nishanees and signs of progress. Sometimes, they call these pavan shabads to differentiate them from the panj shabads that are heard in the darbar as opposed to outside the darbar.

as @BhagatSingh suggested above, "stay chill as if it's nothing"  I'd probably add, "wait for what's next?"
Thunder like "gobind gajay"   Lightening like light and then the all cooling rain of amrit. Can be felt on every single rom of your body as if it's raining. Gurbani mentions a few of these "amrit varkhai,.. amrit varsai" shabads.

^^Next time^^   Just let it be and let the experience take your consciousness. Give your mann and mat to satguru.  The first time this happened,  I had the immediate first 2 lines of the below shabad come into head. "ja-o tao prem khelan ka cha-o, sir dhar tali gali meri a-o".  I immediately put my joined hands on my laps as if in open hath-jor mudra pose, akin to giving an offering. Then, visualized/imagined putting all my consciousness/surti to the Guru and let him do whatever. What happened next, was completely out of this realm.
    ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
    Ja▫o ṯa▫o parem kẖelaṇ kā cẖā▫o.
If you desire to play this game of love with Me,
    ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥
Sir ḏẖar ṯalī galī merī ā▫o.
then step onto My Path with your head in hand.
    ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥
    Iṯ mārag pair ḏẖarījai.
When you place your feet on this Path,
    ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
Sir ḏījai kāṇ na kījai. ||20||
give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20||

I've heard that too or may have seen the same video. I can say, that rom rom makes things much easier and that's why I'm always encouraging it. Some people can get it pargat early on, whereas others get it later.

That's a sign of a good meditation session.
Your voice gets deeper as well, and starts resonating from your stomach.
That happened to me a few times during sleep. The first couple times, it caught me off guard, and like you, I started questioning it and it ended when I did.
The first time I got too scared, the other times the fear went away but the excitement was still there.
That excitement was preventing me from Clarifying this experience.
But I didn't know that at the time.
So it didn't happen for a while, and during that time I found a video by this guy called Rich2150x
Rich talked about how when strong turbulent vibrations come, then you have to just stay calm and not get too excited about it and just go "hmm" as if its nothing and simply take note of it in a very detached objective manner.
So then when it happened again, I remembered to stay chill as if it was nothing.
I stayed calm and chanted Ram.
    Then something special happened.
But what made the vibrational storm manageable was watching it with a non-excited, non-questioning, non-fearful, detached, objective eye.
This is also applicable to emotional storms.

Ok. This sounds all good. Funny thing is that I had these cricket like sounds come twice. They were there in early stages and then re-emerged in later stages. Must have been some blocked energy channels(sukham) that needed re-activating.  We all have different areas that need addressing at separate times and that's why people experience sounds in differing patterns.
These are also very good and I sort of understand what they are (from my own experiences).  It's what they lead to and what can follow along the same path, that is of importance.  I can't say much about this on open forum due to a few reasons, but I think I gave some hints in pm not long ago.
You should raise your surti(consciousness) by continuing simran to get to next levels. When this happens, you will find more nishanees/avasthas in gurbani. This is always the final verification and re-assurance from guru. As the gurbani rapport builds up "Guru maneyo granth" starts becoming apparent. If I don't find my answer in gurbani, then I know my experience wasn't part of the path or avastha.
This takes practice and it's certainly possible. As @BhagatSingh veer (below) said above; you can meditate on it.
The anhad will be 24/7 when pargat. You can tune into it any time, any place.
I practiced a few weeks by using some earplugs and blocking out everything external.  I did 2-3 hour sessions, three times per 24hr-day (about 9hr/day total).  Session at amrit vela and at least 2 or more sittings during the day. I was able to amp up and start differentiating between the frequencies. You can start identifying several different  frequency tones and it will make you appreciate the numerous raags in gurbani.     I recommend the "hearos" brand ear plugs, since they were the most comfortable and strong at 33 decibal noise reduction.    The ear plugs certainly helped to intensify the shabad during those few weeks. I don't need to use them now unless it's noisy in the house or the street, but the magnitude continues to increase and change.
The shabad-dhun is very powerful and its not just a dhun. It can guide you in the most unexplainable ways if you let your self be the chela.  Along with gurbani, you will come to realize just how easy Guru Nanak ji made it.
Shabad gets your naam pargat and naam itself becomes the shabad. That's your direct passport, visa and flight to get to EK ,..hence ✈️Nanak Naam Jahaz hai ✈️

Thanks, been quite busy with my own schedule.

Sounds like the 5 tat colors. An earlier post not long ago by Sat1176 highlighted the Mind and 5 tat maya. Remember that the Mind is born into sukham maya and "eih man panch tat tay janamaa"  Let them come, acknowledge, and then move on..

Recommend that you try and listen to this. Try to move attention around the head, left, right, above, behind..  to try and see if you can grab it. OR just try and stay Central, neither left or right.

Thoughts are always going to be coming. The key is not to attach to them. That's what a mantra is used for. Its a tool(tra) for the mind(man),.."man-tra"   Let the thoughts come and leave themselves. If the thoughts grab away your focus, then us the mantra to try and bring the mind back. You keep doing it until steady and in towards sunn. You've already been in and out of sunn without realizing since you hear the high pitched tones.
You should do both. Set your own time allocations and start off by doing simran session with saas saas. This can be anything from seconds to minutes,...until you get to the steady, settled, and calm state. Then go into 'antarghat'-internal jap. Just try and get deeper, and deeper within yourself. Listen to the tone(s), if you can hear them. If they help you get deeper, then use them to do that....and keep going.

Focus on the light and it should get still. If it doesn't stay steady, it could also be awakening of 3rd eye dristi. Either way, it's most probably the route to see parkash of nirankar.   However, you must try and listen to anhad to get the full connection.    If all this is happening whilst you are trying rom rom technique, then it's real good. It may all fall into place in an instant.    Must continue working and slogging at it with prem.
Shouldn't really be a shape or figure. Roop, na rekh, na rang.   No form, shape or color.   Again, if you focus on anhad dhun, it should still the mind further for better connection and dristi.

These sound like energy rushes. It's easier to understand them if you're aware that there are 2 bodies.  First is your physical body and then there is your subtle/sukham body. We have to try and maintain a balance or level of equilibrium between them. This way, you shall get a better grip of your sukham sareer.  It seems that your sukham sareer is trying to run faster than your physical efforts.
RULE 1: be positive,....in fact always be positive.  No negative ''what if's?'', or "I have to stop"     My suggestion would be "long saas saas" (as I call it) one that has worked for me and a couple of others I know.

**Start off by  just taking a real deep breath in and filling your chest up.
Hold your breath and suspend the chest, and try to keep a stillness.(both physical and inner),   be very relaxed, calm, motivated  and in control...Then,  when you feel comfortable and ready,....slowly,..let the breath out ,....real steady .
Repeat this about 4 times OR until you feel that little space of inner  stillness when suspending/holding.
That was just the breathing, next is to bring in the gurmantar with breath in and breath out.
Start off with a very steady and quiet "waaaaaaaaaaahheeeeee" whilst breathing in. Make sure it is a calm long inward breath pull that is NOT too forceful.
Then,  when you're at the end of "inhale", you need to jus 'pause" and just listen to the inner silence. Next you "exhale" with a steady, calm and long "gurrrroooooo". then when you get to the end "pause" again for a second or two
"Waaaaheeee" on long inhale,....."pause" (hold chest, hold breath)....."Guuurooooo"   on long exhale........."Pause" again at the end before next cycle of inhale.
All jugtees and techniques aid in the opening of sukham energy channels. Some of these may already be open, whilst others may have been blocked for years. Nevertheless, the process is the same and as long as your intentions and aims are for the higher truth and higher frequencies, then no negatives should come in the way. True, some people can go down to vibrate more negative/dark and lower vibrations, but if your heart is right and you are using gurmantar or any other mantas from Sri Guru Granth sahib ji like sat-naam, raam naam, har naam..etc.... then you shouldn't have any worries.
I feel that the calm, steady, long breath saas saas,  will bear fruit for you. I went through phases like yourself, and when I started this little technique, I would motivate and psyche myself up mentally the night before. I'd repeatedly tell myself that I'm going to go deeper and deeper with every molecule of breath.  Getting in this frame of mind before I'd go to sleep would get me all fired up at amrit vela.  I'd get up at 2.30-3.00 am, read japji sahib and then go into the deepest simran that I possibly could.  Seriously, it was in no time that I was having some profound experiences.

Ok, I've not come across this before, so I can only speculate. Middle of the inside of  head is an important area in later stages, but I've always been under the impression that it's advisable to have a solid foundation before going to that area?  Still, I would say that   If you feel energy there or feel some whirring around dasam area, then you have to go with the feel of it.  If it feels uncomfortable, then try to ignore it and put dhyian elsewhere.  My recommendation would be the navel or heart area. Why? because in these areas we have enormous amounts of physical/biological energies.  I mean, our heart generates 60x more electromagnetic energy than the brain.  When this is utilised and geared to making rom rom pargat,, then a whole bunch of doors and avenues can be unlocked. Therefore, I'd recommend you tryin to keep dhyian steady around navel or heart area.(middle of chest)

Give these a try for a couple of weeks and good luck

    Waheguru Fateh Lucky veerji,
yes I do saas saas and mental japa quietly. But when I sit to focus on shabad, my mind starts focusing on different areas of the body. One more thing I need to tell that whenever I sit down to do Simran, something in middle inside of my head starts spinning, afterwards I can’t handle that pressure and I have to stop meditation. Moreover, I feel energy in my whole body especially in my eyes. When I cover my eyes with hands I see lines like we see on ECG report. It’s very hard to explain. But I can surely say that it is energy. Thats why I get more afraid. Am I getting these things to early? I heard that if someone  get them on early stage.  they can’t handle it and also they get mentally disturbed. Please explain more on it.
    Thank you

Yes, but this varies witin stages of sunn itself. For eg. in sunn mandal, you start hear the naam coming direct.
I shall try and do a single thread about sunn, since what I've shared is scattered over a few different threads. Good idea to tie it up in one.

Gurmukh has said that there are various sounds that can be heard internally, for instance, when the breath (pavan) pierces through the Chakras it produces a ringing sound. However, these sound will not take you anywhere. I too in early stages was very confused to what i was hearing. It is referred to as Poan the Shabad. Good thing to know is that your mind is becoming introverted, keep dhyan on simran (Gurmantra), keep going deeper until eventually your mind will rise up the sukhmana channel to the tenth gate from where Shabad/Naam is heard.

Simran or repetition of Wahiguru, is done by the mind or with attention, at different levels of energy or consciousness.

As said previously, it is solely done, to be able to concentrate our attention and enter the finer realms and get certain purification also.

    And that´s it.

It can not take one farther, as it is done within the gross or mental planes.

Because it is the mind which needs to get purified.

The body as we know, is insentient or inert, so it does not get anything to do with it, only as much as only to cooperate with the mind in the right and a relaxed manner, so it can stay without moving as long as possible.

The soul does not do the repetition nor simran. The soul is pure by nature, it is same as in essence as Wahiguru Akal Purukh.
Other thing is, that, it is covered with dirt and filth by the different subtle layers due to the collection of it, since aeons, since it left it´s Father´s House( Sach Khand) and came in association and influence of mind and maya ....to the extent, that the soul has forgotten it´s true nature, so it does nothing to regain it´s True self, and merge in Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

And so, this cleaning is done at two levels. Firstly at the lower or mental level, the mind gets purified with the simran, then secondly, ath e higher level in the causal plane, which is storehouse of all our karmas and these can be only wiped, with the Amrit or Shabad Dhun at that level. And the consequence of this cleaning and purification, allows us to cross and reach Parbraham, and from there on, by mounting the vehicle of Nam or Shabad, the soul reaches the True region, Sach Khand, which is beyond any dissolutions)Parlay) and grand dissolutions(maha parlay).

Once reaching there, the soul in the vehicle of Nam, gets the Darshan of Sat Purukh or Satnam, and becomes one, by the Grace and Mercy of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, by getting dissolved in that Sat Shabad.

So, we must always keep in mind, Wahiguru is a Nirankar Conscious Energy(Shabad).

So we too, if it is His Hukum, we shall blend in Him, just as He is.

We should not think, that by reaching there in Sach Khand, we shall see our Guru Sahibans or the different Bhagats or Gurmukhs....

    No.

The Bani says, Sach Khand vaseh Nirankar. This means, only He is there. This Conscious Energy or Shabad, when descended at the lower planes, assumed the human form to let us know about Him, and when our Guru Sahibans left this plane, again they merged back into that Satnam Samundar, becoming one.

Let us say, if a drop of water falls into an ocean, can we trace it?

    No, isn´t it?

The drop was a drop, as long as it was in a container. Once it falls or gets into the ocean, it no longer is a drop, which was an illusion of form, size and colour, due to its separation from it´s Origin and being in a container ( different bodies : physical, astral or causal )

So if we go to see, in the end, in this process of our union with Him, it is nothing to our credit, but it is only the mahima of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, Nam, Shabad, Anhad Bani, or Sound Current ....

And for that very reason, we should never ever underestimate any sound we may hear in the begining. Our purification and the ability to catch hold of the purer sounds goes hand by hand.

The more our purity, the finer(subtler) the sound we listen to, at that stage.

    Sat Sree Akal.
    May God bless all.

All emotions become transformed into higher levels, more purified levels.
    I have noticed this.
The way to do it is to feel that emotion in the presence of God.
So first work on feeling the presence of God around you and then whenever you feel that emotion coming, then bring the presence of God there and feel that emotion as clearly and purely as possible.
You may notice after a while of doing this that that emotion has started transforming.
It's quality is changing. It's becoming a higher quality emotion.

My Understanding of saas graas and saas saas simran
It's important to try and understand what Swaas graas and swaas swaas is firstly.
But even more importantly, we should understand a little about what baikhri, madhma, pasant and para mean.
For these explanations, we have some very good info in one post that has been displayed on a number of threads and below is just one thread that you can access this same info for reference.

    NOTE- just to simplify.........
    Baikhri- is doing jap loudly
    Madhma- is quietly, like whisper.
Pasant- is silent jap, where there is no sound out from mouth.
Para- is more further, when YOU are not making the effort to say, but waheguru himself is speaking-This borders/overlaps on further to anhad and rom rom (auto mode)
Before we even attempt rom rom, we have to SET the saas graas and saas saas as primary foundations.
I know there can be a lot of confusion between the two, and I never quite understood the difference for a long time.
But from what I gather and the approach I made, I believe it to be as described below (in brief)
    Saas Graas
This is done using gurmantar with BOTH breaths.
    1) Breath in is ''Wahe'' along with slight pull of navel in.
    2) Breath out is ''Guru'' along with relaxing of navel(comes back outwards)
In between (1) and (2), is an important space of silence or void, that one should try and maintain each breath in and out.
This should be a space of no thoughts in between, but you still have your dhyan there !
So, in effect it will sound like-...
    1- inhale ''wahe''
    2- HOLD, and then
    3- exhale ''Guru''
    It should appear as.......Wahe...silence...Guru, ...Wahe...silence...Guru, ...Wahe...silence...Guru, ...etc....
Practice, practice, practice ...until you are doing this until you can bring ALL thoughts just down to One single thought, and then none !
    then next you move onto-
    Saas Saas-
    1st STAGE
Again, the same gurmantar and breathing technique used, BUT only step 1) from above, while inhaling WITHOUT saying 'wahe' with tongue !
    so,......
    1) Inhale in with SILENT internal 'wahe' with breath and navel inwards
    2) Exhale with 'Guru' out and relaxing navel outwards.
Therefore, you are doing the same as saas graas, but the only sound from tongue should be ''Guru' coming out on exhale, but the gaps, pace and lengths would be the same as if you were saying the 'wahe' as well.
In effect, it will sound like...-
1- Breathe in, (no sound except of breath)
    2- Hold for a second
3- Breathe out with 'Guru' sound.
    repeat.
It should appear as ..Inhale.. silence... 'Guru', .. Inhale..silence...Guru', ..Inhale..silence..'Guru'...etc.
Practice, practice and practice.. Again make the goal of killing the thoughts and using that void of silence to help steady mind.
    2nd STAGE
Eventually you want to get to just doing the breathing without any slight tongue movements.
ie. ... breathe in..slight hold...breath out..... and while doing this you are silently japping Wahe-(in) and Guru-(out) by mentally incorporating the gurmanter in every saas.........this is Saas Saas simran.
The 1st stage was a build up the 2nd stage where there should only be the sound of Breath in and Breath out now (only hear the saas) and the gurmantar is actually in your breath and you can hear it yourself but there is no tongue/sound making movement. Therfore, you will hear it, but others will only hear your rhythmic breathing.
Personally, I think it is easier to always start with saas graas and then progress to saas saas, in every simran session.
Whist also going from baikri to pasant/silent jap.
With time, you will find you start going deeper and deeper whilst listening to the gurmantar.
The other key is to listen, listen and listen.
What I have given above is just the way that I was doing it after researching and reading from all other sources. Everyone can vary it slightly to suit their needs in order to help them get rid of the thoughts and HOLD that mind there.
Once you really start listening to the jap and it starts embedding itself within you, then with Waheguru's kirpa, you shall start hearing the anhad/naad/primordial/celestial sounds or Waheguru's voice itself !
Please don't take the above as official simran rules or anything, because they are just my own final conclusions of what I ended up doing in the end after playing about with all sorts of other jugtees and techniques. They may be of some help to some to some of you who are going around in circles trying to settle in that little comfort zone where you feel some decent progress.

Some questions have been arised in this thread as well as on other, on meditation, on the Shabad Dhun, the Sounds one hears..if to listen those from the right, left or center...and so on.....

In the above post Veer Sat Jee, has beautifully expressed in a simple manner, the result of catching hold of the right Sounds, which then take us back to our Nijh Ghar, Sach Khand.

In the Granth Sahib, in Raag Ramkali, Bani of Sree Kabir Sahib Jee Maharaj, tells us in the following lines, how to listen that Sound, from where to listen to it..and what happens if you attach yourself to that Sound:

    ਸੁਖਮਨ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਨੀ ਪੀਵੈ ਪੀਵਨਹਾਰਾ
Sukhaman Naaree Sehaj Samaanee Peevai Peevanehaaraa
    सुखमन नारी सहज समानी पीवै पीवनहारा
The Shushmanaa, the central spinal channel, is intuitively balanced, and the drinker drinks in this wine.

He says: the Sound which is to be heard, is the one which is heard from the center of your forehead, between the two eyes, because that one is the Amrit, which the sikh, the disciple, is eager to find and have it.

Worldly wine makes one person loose all it balance, and makes him like a wild mad elephant ....that is worldy wine or liquor.

But when one drinks this Wine or Amrit of Nam, of Shabad, the mind is vanquished, and the soul regains its freedom, to go back and merge in Him.

    Further on He says:

    ਉਨਮਦ ਚਢਾ ਮਦਨ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਨ ਭਇਆ ਉਜਿਆਰਾ
Ounamadh Chadtaa Madhan Ras Chaakhiaa Thribhavan Bhaeiaa Oujiaaraa
    उनमद चढा मदन रसु चाखिआ त्रिभवन भइआ उजिआरा
When that wine rises up, one tastes the sublime essence of this juice, and sees across the three worlds.

He means that, when one drinks that Nectar of Nam, one tastes the essence of that Nam, and the effect of that drinking Amrit, in this case listening, to that melodious Shabad ringing within us, one´s consciousness is wiped away from all impurities, thus we get the power from that Nam, to cross all the three planes, namely the physical, the astral, and the causal....then only one crosses Brahm, and reaches Paarbraham. After that, though the path is a highway to Sach Khand, but still then, one has to remain seated in the Jahaaz of Nam, in order to reach our true Home, Sach Khand.

So we can clearly see, that the way to reach Sach Khand, right from the begining, is holding on to the Shabad, the Nam, which is ringing within us all the times nonstop, and the method to catch that Shabad is through Nam Simran.

That is why all our Guru Sahibans, Gurmukhs, stress so much on Nam Bhakti, because it is the only weapon to kill the mind and defeat Kal.

One more thing we learn from Kabeer Sahib´s Bani today, is that, the sounds to be paid attention which pull us upwards, are the ones which start from the third eye level and above, but not like those by yogic practices which instead of taking us upwards, bring us downwards, towards throat center, heart center, navel center and the still belower, the ganesh center... our goal is upwards, towards the region of eternity(Sach Khand), not the lower stages or chakras ...which are very much in the realms of being part and parcel of transitory, and thus perishable creation.

This is the difference between the yogas and Gurmat...while one releases the shakti within us and keep us bound in the creation by pulling our attention to the lower centers; Gurmat, opens the real power within us, the power of Nam, the Shabad, which gradually frees us from the creation, by cutting all our bondages, and thus making us worthy of merging and becoming one with Wahiguru.

The path of Gurmat is unique and superior to all others from any angle, from any point of view. All other paths are, made by the negative power, to keep the soluls entangled in the creation, by creating the impressions, that those sounds and results, are similar to those who walk on Gurmat, he cheats the souls .... there are countless universes and creations within us, so if proper guidance is not there, we may just wander aimlessly and miss our goal

But the purpose of Gurmukhs is always inwards and upwards... so it is always better and safer to take guidance with Gurmat.

Bahut Janam vichurethe Madho, ehe janam tumare lekhey...

This is because your flow of prana is imbalanced and getting obstructed in places. In order to understand this, you have to realise that there is 1) Your physical body and 2) your subtle body (sukham) . In order to be enlightened, these have to be in harmony and in sync. That's why, your body is your temple.
Whenever the energy accumulations in your sukham sareer get too vast, then they have to transform directly into your physical body. This is why emotions, feelings and states of mind all affect our physical body. Feeling shitty, depressed, stressed leads to popular symptoms of many physical ailments etc.
I've repeatedly stressed in the past that it's important to maintain good posture and be seated upright when doing jap. This allows prana to flow more freely.  Also note, that Yoga means to jog, which means to join/merge. True yoga is about the science behind joining your Sukham and physical sareer and to keep them vibrating at equal frequencies. First step is to jog your physical and subtle, your miri and piri, your inner and outer. After this, one can move further in order to jog self-jyot Waheguru jyot.  It's all about how you abolish levels of duality and become more pure in order to merge with Akaal Purakh (joti jot milaayai)
In my opinion, what you need to do and get stronger with is... focus on prana flowing with saas  by doing the saas graas/saas saas techniques with slight navel pull in and out. Done properly, this should pave the path of flow without sudden obstructions and eruptions. Activate and keep all energy flowing upwards from navel.

    Beautiful.
These moments are great steps in your spiritual evolution. Even if it last's a moment or two, it can be significant.   It's your higher self experiencing the awareness of existence in a sort of multi-dimension.  These "cool" moments come when consciousness jumps outside of the manukhs constant "thought" process.  (this is when true feeling kicks in) .  You kinda see via others eyes and how your own self reflects in those around you.  The common factor within all is the higher truth, and that's what you felt!
This could well be an enlightening out of "ego" experience that may be fundamental to your own haumai understanding,     Try to put it to use in general daily life by aiming to view all your interactions with others as if looking at the whole scenario from a bird's eye view(out of your own ego) .

gsm52 got a reaction from Lucky in The Ringing Sound (Anhad Shabad; Sound Current)
    Wgjkkwgjkf
This is very valuable forum for Naam abhayaasis and other who want to gain knowage about sikhisim. I am following this for couple a of years.
Most intrest I have in meditation section and post of Gursikh rather I say Gurmukh  Lucky ji and Sat1176 are giving very good guidance to Naam abhayaasis like me.
Since my english is not so good and explation is bad so I hasitsate to post ask question or doubt whenever i got confusion, but searching back and forh from this forum  some thing I use to get near by.
I will write in very simple english My explanation may not be good but I am sure Gurmukh will understand what I mean.
What ever is being discused above and guided by lucky ji and satji, I am (I pray Haaumme/eggo should not come to me by writing this line becouse still long way to go) also due to Gur kirpa may be near by.  I confused many time.
From kanth to trikutti and trikutti to forhead was sacary.
it was Maalikk Kirpa, I feel with his kirppa only we can travell step by step and Gurubani say that we should take help from Gurmukh Pyaaryee who are traveling to this path.
From trikutty/forhead, I wanted that focus should be down to naabi, (thinking that this body may not be ready to take load)  but focus was going upword.
Tip mention by Gurmukh lucky ji worked but just for couple days there was pulasation/vibration from naabi to upword with some low humming sound.
I was follow the same vidi that,s long breath with Gurmantar mentoned by Santren Daya singh ji in his akath kathas. Now Long breath with Gurmantar give a plasant feeling  in trikutti and above ( in forhead pulsation with heart beat) so focus stay there again.
Now from Last couple weeks focuss ( when I mention focus mean pleasant pulsation mostly with heart beat) shifted to up in head top. 1st day just few second.
Now due to God grace time is increasing. Some time whole body from leg to top of head pulsate with heart beat and body feel very relaxed.
At this point i feels I need help.
How do I follow next step.

I have been playing with the tones since I watched those videos. For a long time now I was unable to hear anything but have been increasing my simran throughout the day trying to get back into the swing of things.
So I tried the technique that is described in those videos of focusing on the right ear which is my dominant side. It is the side that in the past I have heard stuff from before.
After a few minutes low and behold the high pitch tone appeared which I recognised. So I put my dhyan on it and slowly by slowly the intensity increased. Not to something I couldn't handle but much louder than the initial ringing you hear. I have never heard it that loud before. So I kept my attention on it for some minutes until it felt like my whole right side of my brain was resonating with the tone. It was no longer localised to my ear. To say I was surprised by the sensation was an understatement. So after that I decided to direct my surti towards the left ear whilst still listening to the sound. The resonating sound changed into a vertical bar like sensation and it slowly starting moving across my head to the left side. Shortly after that it felt like it had moved to the left side of my head it felt like the left side had been lit with by something and my left side also started ringing a similar tone. After a while the tones split and I could not contain my excitement and now for the first time I was hearing two sounds in the head simultaneously, which became quite loud the more attention I gave them.
Slowly as I tried to keep some kind of lock on both sounds in the left and right, they would merge for brief periods and you could feel a vertical bar like sensation of sound running between the eyes going upwards into the forehead. For the first time in my life I may have had glimpse of what it is like to hear the sound in the trikuti region. As before it was always localised to my right ride.
Please note, that I have not got the foggiest idea of what I'm playing with here, but whatever it is, something is definitely resonating more profoundly than a high pitch sound that starts in the beginning of the ear drum. But it is definitely not localised to my ear drum anymore.
Over the next couple of days, whenever I would look for the sound, it quickly appears on the right. Sometimes it now starts off as the sound of crickets in the night which slowly turns into the high frequency sound which then increases in volume. When you stop giving it attention then it disappears. However it now turns on randomly during the day on either side as I carry on my job and I am more aware when it does. If I am able to close my eyes and devote attention to it, then the volume increases and you get a type of sensation that your brain in your head is resonating with this sound. Is it intoxicating? Not yet. It takes a great deal of concentration to be able to keep an lock on it. I have heard and read that next stage after japna begins with dhyan avasta. I now appreciate it more when they say first learn to concentrate on the gurmantar and develop stamina in a thoughtless still state. Because when you are just trying to focus on a sound, it is much more difficult to maintain unless your foundation is strong, and you definitely notice your monkey mind taking random thoughts which can become very annoying when your trying to concentrate on something and surrender to it.
During the day I'm practising on the gurmantar a lot more. Then in the night when the house is quiet and all have gone to bed, I try and focus on the sounds.
I am also noticing during the day when my air is balanced in both nostrils. You can feel the flow in the trikuti between the eyes really easily.
Whatever changes may be happening in my surti I am definitely feeling more inwardly aware of subtle changes in my head and hearing is becoming more inwardly sensitive.
    Waheguru

Seems like a very well researched book.

I look forward to some more interesting postings from this.

Singhji, it's a little difficult to explain but I don't think t lures you away from real bhagti.
We have to use some form of tool to help focus and put our fixation on bhagti.
When meditating, some people use a little black dot or mandala to stare at. Some use a candle flame or jyot, but as sikhs, we use the dhun of gurmantar, tikuti, focus between brows, navel..etc..
I've learned that it is trying to find the right jugti that suits each of us according to how much devotion and bairaag we have.

gsm52 reacted to Lucky in Am i going to sunn the right way ?
aaaahhh, i see..... I spoke about naam, sunn and it being pargat on another thread earlier.
I would suggest some similar advise that I mentioned on there...  To do saas saas with very slow long breaths.by doing  "waaaaaaaahheeeeee"...pause, hold,,and then "Guroooooooooo"  . Start doing this with whisper, be very relaxed ,,, follow the breath and then incorporate the gurmantar.......then,  ..Steadily, and calmly,...go from whisper to just silent recitation (antarghat) within yourself. Keep going and keep going until you get lost in the shabad.
I STRONGLY suggest this as per gurmat.
Please don't think that going into sunn is what it's all about and be trying to rush it.  That's not gurmat.   You've got to have the foundations of saas saas and rom rom before you play around with sunn. i never paid attention to what it was and never stressed about rushing into it.    Sunn is just a void of which there are 4 main levels that I've come to learn. You want to get NAAM PARGAT,, which itsefl occurs in earlier stage of sunn, but then the NAAM can ONLY gain in abundance meaning- you get NAAM KAMAYEE(wealth), by proceeding with it further into depths of antarghat.  The sunn will come automatically when in deeper meditative states.
Trying to rush into sunn without naam kamayee, is not recommended as far as i understand. You've also got to note that techniques like hypnotizing, brainwashing via hypnotic induction..  for example,  all use the process of putting you into the void (sunn) and manipulating your susceptible sub-conscious.You see what I mean about being gurmat or not?

Bottom line, Do the saas saas as described above because I know it works. In addition, you are still safe to do the listening to silence or sooo soooo as wel, but please have the foundations.

These are good questions. I'm aware that you will have difficulty in getting the answers, but in time, they will come to you.  Things can get pretty tricky to explain unless one understands the experience.  Nevertheless, I can try answer them relative to my own journey and understanding. They are pretty long explanations to write down, so i will have to be a little blunt.  Whether i'm right, wrong, or if others experience different, is another discussion.

This comes with practice.  You will start hearing shabad, alone, once naam is pargat.  There's quite a number of nishanees in gurbani for when this happens. We can discuss those then, but in the mean time it's just about practice.

    1) "Some say to sit and wait in sunn"  you asked  ..<--doesn't really apply to naam pargat in my opinion.  I'll explain briefly.......
Now,.... I never understood sunn for ages. Even when i was in it,  I never realised where or what it was.  I have now awakened to the fact that there are 4 possible stages of sunn. The 1st is the basic sunn/sleep one that we all pass through at night before the mind falls in maya dreams. Think of it as a very short stage of dreamless and thoughtless sleep. You can practice elongating  this dreamless stage when doing jap, during moments of when you may be drifting to sleep. There is a very thin line between this void, dream sleep and being aware(in control).   Have you seen the movie 'Inception'?
The 2nd stage is the longest part of journey and is the Sunn Mandal. This is the stage when naam CAN get pargat. A lot of transformations take place in this zone and some people may even break it up into more divisions of sunn.  You don't really sit and wait in this stage as you questioned. The sitting and waiting is done in Sehaj sunn(the 3rd stage), when all you hear is the anhad dunn in the centre and all around.

My suggestion  is to do "saas saas".    Do this very quietly with focus on breath. Make the breathing long with antarghat or whisper "waaaaahhhhhheeeee" long pause, then  "guroooooooo',   long pause.  This is what helped me get to next levels.

To sit and wait in sunn, isn't really going to get you far in my opinion with out naam kamayee.  What i mean is that it's much easier to sit and wait in sunn when one get's naam and  has gained naam kamayee.
Do the saas saas above and rom rom jugtees.   These should automatically take you into the tips of sunn mandal to begin with.... Then naam gets flowing,... naam kamayee begins, ... naam gets pargat...and then Naam kamayee will  take you further into depths and experiences of the same sunn mandal towards sehaj sunn.   It is the  fastest manner I know in which  you can undergo major transformations.  I'm suggesting it because I know it works.
Other methods of trying to rush into sunn are methods that i can't advise and don't understand how.   Gurmat emphasis that one does japna to get to naam. Naam is what helps you get deeper into sunn because you want to latch on to the shabad.

You need to keep practicing more rom rom because it isn't pargat yet.   Get real deep and start using all that energy from heart area dissipating throughout the body with jap.    I keep stressing the importance of practicing rom rom technique after saas saas.   Rom rom makes so many thing easier when you get to later stages.   It will help you get to deep meditative zones within seconds with the anhad shabad and you will discover so many other things.

Right or dominant side is usually at first. You wanna be able to hear the front, back and centre as well. Again, this is just practice, practice and practice.

The KEY to the whole approach is to work at a pace, in sehaj with utmost prem. If you have conditions or you only have prem for some conditions, then you will not succeed. What i mean is that when i ask most people "why they want to jap" . They usually respond with "sukh ,shanti, peace, at ease, no life stresses" ..etc..  These intentions make the process somewhat conditional, and conditions with God don't really help except in infant stages. This is the secret that no one tells you and the reason why 95% of seekers remain stuck.

You should try and do saas saas with whispering the gurmantar and then go into silent and mental.
Some people can do it straight away and some can't... we all have to play around and see what works.
I know what you mean about not making noise and waking house up because I also like to keep it 'low key' and also helps me in keeping steady to get that absolute stillness.
